Shadow is our first dog. I've had cats before, and I usually judge a vet's office by cleanliness, how the pet reacts to the staff, and how the vet answers questions / tries to sell you stuff.Daniel Island Animal Hospital is very very clean. It doesn't smell like animals inside, and they have a little jar of hypoallergenic biscuits for nervous dogs (sorry, I didn't see anything for nervous cats). The front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and quick about getting your animal's information. They couldn't find Shadow's microchip, though, which concerned me a little. The vet was able to locate it later. The technicians were gentle with the dog, although she didn't appreciate getting her temperature taken. They seemed to know how to handle her without getting her overly stimulated. When the vet came in, she examined Shadow, asked me a few questions about her condition, and made an assessment after some tests. Shadow seemed to like her and didn't mind being handled. The vet did not try to sell me anything besides the necessary antibiotics and some ear solution for Shadow's yeast infection. In addition, she offered antihistamines for the allergies but told me it was cheaper to just use Benadryl. Overall it was not a stressful experience to go the vet, and when I called later with concerns the staff answered all questions to the best of their knowledge. They even call to follow up on the dog a week after the visit to make sure she is doing better. I highly recommend this veterinary office. They are competent, caring, not money-hungry, and responsive to your and your animal's needs. Read Less
