I work at a doggy daycare as a receiptionist and a big part of my job is calling other vets for dogs vaccinations. More times then not, I am rushed over the phone, put on hold and sometimes not ever given the vaccinations I need. Today, however, when I called, the person I talked to (unfortunately I can’t remember her name!) was VERY pleasant. She got me the verbal confirmation and then Immediatley had the vaccinations faxed over. It’s rare that I have this experience with vets and I couldn’t be more grateful that she made MY job easier! Don't waste your money here....I brought my dog here twice for an ear infection and have been given ear drops both times, I have applied them as I was instructed to do but they haven't worked at all. Obviously someone doesn't know what she needs so she can feel better. Read Less

Called this morning to take our cat in because he is not doing well :( The lady who answered the phone was more concerned whether or not he was an existing or new patient over why we wanted to bring him in. I was told the earliest they could see him was in 3 weeks. My response was I didn't think he would make it that long. Not once was the question asked of what was the problem. I can't recommend this vet to anyone because of the lack of interest in the animals well being over running a schedule. Read Less

First and foremost, this is my first negative post on yelp and I apologize for the length. We have been taking our Lab Allie for the past three years to Indian Land. Overall the staff is ok and somewhat nice. My poor review has nothing to do with the staff...  it has to do with the fact they are a money hungry cut happy practice. Labs are prone to fatty cysts that can at time become tumors. Last March based on recommendations we pull Allie under and had three removed. All were so obviously fatty they didn't even send them to the lab for testing. Fortunately Allie recovered from that surgery. Minus the fact they forgot to remove a staple the first go around which became infected. When our dog sitter, who is a vet tech, took her in to have it remove they were ridiculously rude and acted like it was our fault. Recently we found another bump which we had them look at.  We were pretty sure it was just an infected cyst. However when they tested it, they recommended it needed to be removed. For the next three days the bump was leaking and we had to treat it. That was our first signal something else was up. After taking her to another vet for a second opinion there was clear evidence of an infected cyst, not a tumor. Now today the day of her proposed surgery there is no bump, just a mark from where her cyst was healing. With our pets it can be very difficult to know the severity of their issues since they can't speak. Hence vets are able to take advantage for profits. This is my experience with Indian Land.  I urge you to not take your pets there and find another vet. Read Less

My dogs have seen Dr Lisa Shaw for over 10 years. I wouldn't take them to anyone else. Always very accommodating and compassionate.  She has helped us say goodbye to two of our fur kids in the most gentle and loving way. Her staff, especially  Nancy, is friendly, helpful, and caring. This clinic had good reviews on another site so I called to make a first time visit appt. The receptionist was unfriendly and limited on information. Told me it would be a month before I could bring my dog in. I'm very disappointed because they are close to home but I'll drive a long ways for good customer service. I will never go back to Indian Land Animal Hospital. The receptionist was extremely rude to me. I simply called to see what shots my dog needed, and all she cared about was the little bit of money my mom still owed for her dog. The first thing she said to me was that I owed some sort of money. Didn't ask how I was doing, didn't ask how my dog was doing. All they care about there is the money. I will be going to a different vet ASAP. Horrible customer service, I was shocked at the way she handled our conversation. I am having my mom call them, and pay them so we can go else where with out business. Very disappointed, a vet needs to show compassion to their clients, no matter what. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Read Less

I am so disappointed.  Normally I never write a bad review.  However, I love my dog so much that I want the best treatment for her and I sure didn't get it here.  Dr Wyss made me feel extremely rushed.  I was told she checked Lyla in the other room when she had her blood work done.  Then when I asked her to check her hips and skin she was reluctant and I had to ask the Vet to physically come look at my dog.  She only did if I held her head like she's a vicious animal, which she is not.  I had more questions and the Dr basically was walking out the door, didn't give me a chance to ask all of my questions and all of her mannerisms were extremely rushed.  She spoke fast, was not empathetic, and made me feel like I didn't matter.  She didn't have any compassion toward my sweet dog at all. To make matters worse, I wanted to update her on her shots, I asked them to tell me the prices...and I as soon as the doc was done she was literally out of the room and told me to go to the front desk... I had no clue if she got shots back in the other room or not until I went to the front desk where they just told me the total.  And that's when I was informed that she got her distemper shots without them even asking if it was ok.  They didn't go over any of the details of my visit, they just asked for my payment.  I want a vet who actually cares and appreciates my business.  Not this one. I have lived in NY, CT, MI and now NC, all requiring vet care for our pets. In all of those different vet offices, we have never had such a caring, friendly, loving staff to take care of our mini bull terrier Scarlett. Isn't that what we all want? Someone who will treat our pets like the family member they are to us? Recently Scarlett has had some health issues and Dr. Shaw has been incredible. She not only makes her own assessments but also contacts other colleagues and specialists to make sure the best treatment is given to her. We've gone for an MRI, spinal tap, sonograms, etc....things that make you feel uncomfortable and worried for your pet. But knowing what kind of person Dr. Shaw is, and trusting her to send me to the right places has been invaluable. And as a pet owner, I'm sure you know a dog KNOWS when a person is someone they can trust and love. Scarlett goes banana's when she sees Dr. Shaw. She won't even give us the kisses she gives her and her wonderful staff. During Christmas, my sister was puppy sitting and didn't know how bull headed a bull terrier can be. In less than an hour of being left alone, she knocked down the barrier my sister put up, ran up her stairs, got to a box of truffles and ate them all! Of course i was in a panic. It was Christmas day! But you know what? Elizabeth, a vet tech at Indian Land Animal hospital had been going out of her way to help me stay sane through all those tests. She would text me and see how Scarlett was doing. I called Elizabeth on Christmas day. And she gave me advice on who to call and what to do. Keep in mind that I was in Florida! Of course I felt terrible bothering someone on Christmas day, but Elizabeth has a heart of gold and didn't mind at all. It's people like this you want taking care of your pet(s). High quality, trustworthy care from people who clearly know how to treat the pets and the people attached to them. I love ALL of the staff there and would highly recommend Indian Land Animal Hospital. Even if I moved an hour away I would STILL drive there for veteranary care. Read Less

Horrible!!!! Brought my almost 16 year old dog to see Dr. shaw for the first time last week. Got a horrible diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Called back Monday with questions and I was very pacific that I wanted to talk to the Dr. now Wednesday, still no call from any dr there. These guys are great with my bulldog.  He has food and seasonal allergies and they're always so nice to get him in when he's feeling yucky.  The bills can get expensive, so when my Bruno is being treated his vet takes pricing into consideration.  Easy appointments, friendly staff, clean waiting and check up rooms.  There's plenty of parking and a grassy area so he can relieve himself before his appointment.I believe they just extended their hours too. This is the best animal hospital I have ever used. Dr. Wyss takes care of my dog and my cat. When I had to have one of my cats put down it was done with so much compassion for me and for my sweet cat. She made a bad situation so much better. I love her and so do my cat and dog. Dr. Lisa Shaw, Dr. Heather Wyss are wonderful caring people as well as the entire staff. I have been to animal hospitals in many states and Indian Land is the best of all. When my german shepherd Elsa was having problems walking due to spinal problems, Dr. Shaw recommended therapy at Carolina Rehabilitation Center. This was helping her until she had to have an emergency operation on a Wednesday for a spleen twisting around her stomach. Dr. Shaw operated and then saw her every day to check on her and sent her to the emergency clinic for overnight monitoring. She also gave me her cellphone number in case of an emergency which did occur on a Saturday afternoon and she had me take her to the emergency clinic but it was too late due to a blood clot. She called me when my husband and I were rushing to the emergency clinic with Elsa. When I called her and told her about Elsa, she was genuinely upset as she cared for Elsa very much. The staff also extended their condolences as they knew how much I cared for Elsa. I still have 2 cats and would never take them anywhere else but there. I don't understand how people can complain about Indian Land Animal Hospital as this is a wonderful and caring facility for animals. Great going everyone, you are all terrific. Read Less

Not too long ago our dog Bobo became ill. We took him to Indian Land Animal Hospital to be treated. We could not have asked for a better, more caring and compassionate group of people. They worked so hard trying to save his life, but in the end his little body gave up. I had never seen a vet, vet tech and receptionist cry before, and I know how sincere they were. Then we received notification that Dr. Lisa Shaw had made a donation in Bobo's name to the Morris Animal Foundation. We now have a little dog which we adopted from the Charlotte Animal Shelter and wouldn't think about taking him anywhere else. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Shaw and her staff. Read Less

DR CAROL WAS THE BEST VET I HAVE EVER KNOWN.. SHE WAS KIND,CONSIDERATE,CARING AND I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD ABOUT HER. SHE AND HER HUSBAND DR ANDY ( WHO DIED IN 2004) HAVE TAKEN CARE ON MY ANIMALS SINCE THE MID 80'S.
