I went in with my pup, Max, a few weeks ago for a skin growth. I had called prior and they were very friendly on the phone and got me in on the same day. When I arrived they greeted us and quickly got my pup and I in then room. I didn't wait long before the assistant came in and asked a few questions. A few minutes later the Vet came in, both were very friendly. My dog was nervous and both the assistant and vet were very patient and careful with him, they even gave him some cheese to distract him a bit. We first visited when our sweet baby came down sick and we needed an emergency vet. Our sweet Golden was not well and we ended up having to say goodbye. The staff went above and beyond being sensitive to our feelings and treating our guy with love and respect. Most recently we got a new pup and of course we thought let's go there for his first vet visit. They were again amazing! They listened to my long list of questions and made our guy as calm and comfortable about his visit. We are so happy to be taking our doodle there!! My husband and I had recently moved to the area and were looking for a kind, professional vet center that would be equal to our old service in Wisconsin. Our long haired Chihuahua was due a shot, but once we met the incredible staff and vet (the owner I believe) we decided it would be best to get complete bloodworm etc as our dog is in a new city etc. Every step and option was carefully explained, and at no time did we feel we were being 'over-sold' something of coerced into a purchase. I work at Camp Bow Wow Fort Mill and as a receptionist, I constantly have to call vets around me for vaccination records, etc. Most vets have me on hold for significant amounts of time, they tend to be a bit rude on the phone and sometimes they don’t follow through with a fax/ email of vaccinations. When I spoke to (Regina or Reanna- unfortunately I don’t remember the name!) the receptionist, she was quick, very pleasant to talk to and got the verbal confirmation very quickly AND had the vaccinations faxed over immediately after our phone call. It’s the little things like this that make MY job easier, and I couldn’t be more thankful for fellow hard workers that do a great job and obviously love what they do. There are approximately 5 vet hospitals within a 10 minute drive but I chose to drive 25 minutes to this place. I love their approach to make the visit as stress free for your pet as possible. Brought my dog here, have been for years.. recent changes to veterinarians and Michelle make this place horrible.. my dog was misdiagnosed by a new vet and passed away this weekend. I emailed to let the vets know their lack of concern for what I asked them to check lead to my dog passing, and no one reached out or apologized. They removed my portal profile and acted like nothing ever happened. I am now having to deal with his loss, which could have been handled differently. He died from cancer and was diagnosed with bronchitis a week ago instead of them looking and checking a growth on his neck as asked. I took my kitten here for his first exam last week and I was very happy with how the visit went. I was a few minutes early for the appointment and the person at the front desk got us into an exam room right away. The waiting area and exam rooms are clean and bright and don't have that dismal-vet's-office feel to them. In the exam room there were treats and some kind of calming catnip substance on the floor and my kitten came right out of his carrier to eat and sniff. In my experience (my other cat also goes to this vet) all of the staff are very good with the animals so I never have to worry about my cats being afraid while they're there. And when I bring the cats home, it's like they never went- they bounce right back to normal. I had *a lot* of questions about my kitten's vaccines, treatments, and future services and they printed out exactly what everything would cost and spent a good amount of time with me to make sure they answered all my questions. I like knowing exactly what I'm paying for and what services are optional. Another thing is I've been to many vets over the course of the years and some of them just don't seem to even like animals; they examine the animal and boom they're done. But at this office they really do seem to love animals and always seem excited to see the pets come in! Read Less

Wow! We are so lucky and blessed to have found this Vet! The experience has been absolutely amazing! This was our first visit as we have been trying to locate a local Vet for our two cats that offer a flexible schedule. Highly recommend this office and if you are considering changing your current Vet, please check out this location. From booking the appointment, to visiting the office was nothing but professional, convenient, and an absolute joy for both the owners and the cats! The staff and doctor actually sat on the office floor with our "crazy" scared cat! The atmosphere was pleasant, clean, and comfortable. They explained every step, offered a free packet to assist with reducing stress for our indoor cats who never leave the house. Never go to Veterinary Medical Center of Fort Mill. We tried to get our dogs nails trimmed. They told us we'd have to pay for a visit first before trimming. I took General in and paid for a visit even though they couldn't do anything. The vet was great. When I left, I was told to make an appointment with the vet for a nail trim. I told the receptionist and she said a vet wouldn't be necessary. I told her yes, a vet would be necessary because I was clearly paying for pills to give General because he has a tough time with someone touching his paws. After drugging my dog to take him in today, I called to ask a question. The receptionist told us we didn't have a vet appointment and proceeded to talk over me when I calmly tried to explain what happened. She was rude while I remained calm. I'm no longer calm. It was great. We're new to the area, with a brand new puppy, and we weren't sure where to go or who to take him to. This office was great. They were kind, polite, they explained it very clearly to us, they didn't push anything on us, they made it clear that it was our choice. As new people taking our girls to a new vet is stressful for all of us. As soon as we came in the girls were weighed and given the soothing sprayed bandana to wear. They did help and we were shown right into the examination room. Our tech listened carefully and asked thoughtful questions. We did not feel rushed at all. When Dr Turner came in she was fully updated on everything that we were concerned with. She examined the girls sitting on the floor which kept them more relaxed and us as well. Again as much time as we needed and all explanations we're well worded and explained. We could not be happier with our experience there and have found the best medical center for our furbabies. I cannot speak highly enough of this practice. I had a tragic, unexpected loss of my dog in the office a week ago today, and I have never felt more compassion from a group of people. I've been coming to this office since day one and I can assure you that you will NOT find a more educated, well rounded group of veterinarians in the area. Standing in complete shock, disbelief and inconsolable over my dog, I was comforted and embraced by Dr. Reck as I was by myself bringing my dog for a checkup for something that was concerning. Little did I know, my dog was very sick and had a large mass in her chest compressing her lung totally, therefore ultimately suffocating her. Every person in this office displayed a tremendous amount of compassion during this traumatic time for me. We love VMCF! I started taking my first dog, Josie, there when I moved here in 2012 and she was about 6 months old. My husband and I got a puppy in February 2014, Rylie. Rylie has always seen a doctor or assistant here. Both girls were "fixed" here. I love how efficient they are with the yearly check ups. The printed out sheet that explains everything beforehand that I can fill out and send with my husband is wonderful.I haven't had much of a chance to look into the new classes that they are offering that teach pet owners and save them money, but I know that I would have definitely gone when my dogs were puppies. My only complaint was that only time I ever called for a sick dog they were unable to help. They assessed the situation and said that an X Ray would be likely, but their machine was broken, so I would need to go to the emergency vet place. All I could see were dollar signs. We waited another day and she got better. But, I was a little irritated because I thought the point of the fantastic hours and stuff was to avoid the Vet ER. I have to give them 5 stars because the facility is super clean, smells nice, the staff is friendly (I even called about giving Benedryl to my dog and they calculated the amount for me over the phone), they are always kind to my dogs, and their yearly check up process is brilliant. I don't have kids/can't have kids, so these two dogs are incredibly dear to me. I wouldn't trust them just anywhere! Read Less

I brought my kitty here after noticing a knot/growth on her tail. Turns out it was a small abscess from being bit/scratched by one of our other cats. I love how efficient this vet office is! In less than 90 minutes we checked in, had the exam, determined she would need a minor procedure with mild sedation, they performed the procedure, gave her something to counter act the sedation so she would be back to normal as soon as possible and then we checked out! Our appointment was at 2:45 and we were headed home by 4! They ensure that your pets visit is as smooth as possible. Many other vets would have kept her all afternoon until they could "get to her". This vet will put your pet 1st to avoid adding any unnecessary anxiety. They treat your pet with the same respect they would your child. I took my cat Zeke here fearing the worst. They helped me search through reasonable options as to what his life would be like if we prolonged it. In the end he needed to be put to sleep. They did this with such care and tenderness and treated him as if he were their own. I even received a hand written sympathy card a few days later. I recently switched to the vet. I will say that the doctors are very nice. However the prices are ridiculous.  Tests, nail trimmings, and other procedures I have done for myPups are almost DOUBLE what they are here.  They literally charged me $25 just to take my dogs blood pressure. I really like these folks, and they are open 7 days a week.  I had a critically ill dog so that convenience was such a comfort.  We now have a large goofy teething puppy and we have had his shots done here, and nail trimmings.  Vet techs have been fantastic with him andDr. D is great, he spends a lot of time with his examinations and has always been very patient with our questions when our other dog went thru his illness.  I cannot recommend these folks enough. I can not say enough about Dr Doukas and Dr Wood. This husband/wife team is amazing. I'm there for monthly visits and have been for a while with 2 elderly dogs diagnosed with cushings and cancer. They really care and call me at home all the time. I've never felt like they just want my money and always feel like they want the best for my dogs. They are personable and never once have rushed me out of the office or off the phone. I have seen all the doctors over the years and all were good but these 2 are great and go the extra step! We love this vet. We found them through our rescue, Lucky Labs Rescue (another great organization) and they've always been really great to us. The prices are fair, the hours are very long, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We work full time and they have good options for us. We can either drop our dog off and the beginning of the day and pick him up in the evening, or we can come in on the weekend for drop in appointments (can't pre-schedule an appointment on the weekend, it's just first come first served). They also let you only see the vet tech if you're just needing a shot or a blood test or nail clippings, which saves you big money by not having to pay the veterinarian exam fee. Read Less

My vet was closed, so we went to this vet for some concerns on the weekend. Staff was very nice and helpful, but the vet was downright unfriendly and I'd even say rude. The price was okay, but higher than my regular vet. The quote for future services was sky-high, so definitely they won't become my regular vet. The hours are really good, which is helpful in a pinch. First. I've been on the Internet forever, but I've never felt so compelled to write a review for a business and customer service before. This place is amazing! Tuesday, I had to put down my best friend of 15 years, Leo. This was his second visit to VMCFM in the past 2 weeks. Dr. Angela and her team were SO caring! I've never gone through putting a pet to peace before, but they made the process as tolerable as possible. They let me pay in the back with Leo so I could walk right out of the office after everything was finished. Leo's ashes arrived the very next morning (within 12 hours). They are not expensive as many have stated here and it's also true, they do not try to oversell. Here's the kicker. I've been so upset all week and then today I receive the nicest card in the mail with hand written notes from each staff member I came in contact with. I've lost 3 family members in the past 3 months and NEVER received ANYTHING except bills. Who does that anymore? These people are animal Lovers who take pride in their work. I can't say anything else other than bring your little Loved-ones to this place for care and Love. They made a horrible situation bearable! Read Less

So pleased with my experience!! Long story short, my pup needed some shot updates but the paperwork from her rescue place was a little confusing so I called my original vet to ask about it. The reception went from nice to annoyed the second I said I had a question. Then it just fell apart from there, they were not helpful and told me it would be a week before someone would even be willing to look at my paperwork and so on. So I went to Yelp for help! Veterinary Medical Center of Fort Mill had wonderful reviews so I called! Not only did they happily answer my questions but they had 2 openings for me to come in same day!! They checked me in promptly, they were so friendly to me and my little Lucy. Dr. Wood and her assistant saw me immediately, answered all my questions, and took great care of my pup!! Being a rescue my dog has a little stranger anxiety and she literally didn't even flinch during 2 shots and meds up the nose! I know everyone will have different opinions but I feel this clinic is very affordable. I have paid astronomical prices in the past for far less than what Vet Med Center of Fort Mill did for me. The front desk staff is friendly and efficient. I am giving Dr. Wood a definite 5 star rating! She is hands on and I can tell she loves her animals. She has seen two of my kitties and I trust her. She has shown a respect for older animals and the pain they endure. She treated my 17 year old kitty like it was her own grandma. Seriously, the love was there. Had a small issue with a temp dr this week. I have to say VMC of FM are a class act! UPDATE: We just passed Daisy's one year mark for her ACL surgery and Daisy is doing incredible! Dr. Reck & team: thank you for giving my girl back her life at the ripe age of 11! We are so thankful that the years she has left will be full of chasing balls and running on the beach! Dr. Reck performed ACL surgery on my dog, Daisy, two weeks ago. From our first meeting, I was instantly comfortable with Dr. Reck as she addressed all of my concerns and was very upfront with the risks vs. rewards of the particular procedure we chose. I drove from Columbia, SC, just to see Dr. Reck after having a consultation with a surgeon in our area who wanted to perform the same surgery on my 12 year old 35 lb. border collie mix as he performed on 90 lb. dogs. For anyone researching ACL repair for their dogs, you know that this is simply not a "one size fits all" surgery situation. After two weeks of taking it easy, Daisy had her staples removed and is now starting to put weight on her leg. As much as it was hard putting her through the surgery, I am so glad that we chose Dr. Reck to perform it!!Read Less

What a great place!  I felt like a bad puppy Mom for being slightly behind (ahem, like a year late), on my dog's annual plus shots, etc.  Preparing myself for the frightening charge, I was ecstatic when the vet tech explained that I could get everything done for half of what I was used to paying at other vets.  Both the tech and the Dr. were warm and friendly, which eased the guilt I felt walking in the door :)It's a clean and pleasant place, they are fair and honest, and took great care of my girl. Upon referrals from two friends I set this place up as my vet. Baxter (black lab puppy) is the first pet adoption for me so I was nervous about missing something he needed or having the visits being exorbitant. Thankfully every visit has been wonderful. The first one the vet tech explained everything he would need to be a healthy puppy. When I scheduled his boosters I didn't realize it didn't need a vet consult, and they waived the fee.They were able to recommend a solution for Baxter's car sickness before a long road trip home, and walked me through the potential problems to look for after I removed his first tick.The best part about this vet is their affection for animals! I adopted Baxter when he was fairly young and teaching him strangers didn't want to be greeted with a jump and a lick (especially since he got big fast! ) was intermittently successful. Everyone in the office has been so friendly and patient with him (and me as I asked some questions several times to make sure I had everything in order).As others have mentioned the hours are really easy to work with as well.
