We recently switched vets from Daniel Island Vet to Best Friends Vet because of the location; and quite frankly the price. We have seen Dr. Mokos at both places, but the Best Friends Vet is a lot cheaper when it comes to yearly exams and shots for our pups; so it is not sacrificing quality since Dr. Mokos is such a good vet. She's caring and understanding to your pets' needs. In addition we found the rest of the staff here to also be really friendly and caring. Read Less

I took my cat there because he had been excessively grooming and losing hair. I was concerned he might have contracted worms. My concern was dismissed and they did X-rays. When they reviewed the X-rays with me the doctor was concerned about my cats hind leg and markings on the lungs. She felt that it denoted cancer and the probable best case senecio would be my cat losing a leg. I protested that my cat was running and jumping and didn’t exhibit pain at home. I explained I had adopted him as a stray and it must be an old injury. I didn’t see how it explained the over grooming. I paid to have the X-ray review expedited and left the office with my cat in near tears. I was given a opioid perspiration for his “pain”. A half hour later they called and told me good news, it’s an old injury and most likely asthma. I asked again about the over grooming and was told all of his blood work was fine. He’s just in pain from the old injury. 6 months later I took my cat to a different vet because I noticed he had diarrhea....yes he had worms. He’s had worms. The marks on his lungs were most likely from the parasites, the slightly swollen intestine that the doctor wasn’t concerned about was most likely worms. I spent close to $700 to have my cat misdiagnosed. Read Less

I just can't say enough about Best Friends Animal Clinic. Dr. Mokos and staff always go above and beyond to make sure my pets are well taken care of. Having frequented other vet clinics in the past I can safely say that BFAC truly cares about you and your furry friends. Their prices are very affordable and they aren't just trying to make that 'extra buck.  They are always willing to fit us in if we are experiencing some sort of pet emergency.  Offering extended hours during the week along with being open on Saturday, is also extremely convenient and yet another testament of how much they care about your pet's well-being. The staff is great, very friendly and super nice. But it seems like every time I bring my pet in there, there is a visible problem, and they don’t do anything for it. My pet will be wheezing and having mucus coming out of every thing on her face, and it gets brushed off as she’s okay, and she’ll still be sick at home for another couple weeks. Dr. Mokos is the most kind and caring vet I've ever met. She literally saved my dog's life twice when she had ate something she shouldn't have and needed surgery to remove it. Her prices for surgery were far more reasonable than anywhere else and truly the only reason we were able to save our dog. #BestVetEver. I have a rescue who has had a pretty rough time constant vet appointments for the past 5 months. Before visiting best friends I saw a few other vets for my other pets and Jack as well. I have never had an good luck with any one of them until I was refered to best friends. I have never been happier their staff is absolutely amazing they are the most friendly staff ever and they will do anything to help their patients and patients owners to keep them healthy. This is the best veterinarian's office I've ever been to. They are so friendly and helpful. I really feel like my pup is in great hands when I bring her here. Yesterday I had to rush her into the office with an emergency situation, which probably seemed a lot scarier to me than it actually was, especially since she's my first dog and that was her first "emergency." They were extra kind to me on the phone as I was freaking out and quickly took care of her, and were patient and comforting when explaining the procedure to me. Dr. Mokus and her team have been so kind and comforting to us throughout one of the most difficult situations we have ever been through. Our sweet pup was diagnosed with kidney disease. Dr Mokus asked several questions and did a thorough examination to be sure. We trusted her immediately as she was clearly very knowledgeable. Every visit here was wonderful. Dr. Mokos and her staff if fantastic to work with and genuinely care about the health AND HAPPINESS of the pet patients. Our cat Jasper had all the normal shots and whatnot throughout our stay in SC, but he also ended up needing some teeth removed. We suspected this from what our old vet in Michigan had said but had passed at the time due to cost. By the time we got it done with Dr. Mokos, the teeth were worse but she was going to charge even less than the Michigan vet! She even gave us her personal number of anything came up after hours the week after the surgery. 5 Stars, and we'll definitely come back when we're sent back to SC. Read Less

I am very impressed with the staff here. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Dr. Thompson is knowledgeable and professional--I was especially happy that she didn't want to use antibiotics as a first option for addressing a suspected skin allergy. Prices are reasonable and everything is broken down for you. The extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays make this convenient with my work schedule too. We had used 2 other clinics since moving to the area in 2008 before finding Best Friends Animal Clinic. We have a large Newfoundland Mix with terrible allergies and a patched together knee. Dr. Mokos has helped our dog more over the past 6 months more than any of the other vets we have taken her to since moving to South Carolina. She always does a follow up call to check on Sydney after seeing her, and shops for the least expensive medicine when treating her allergies and infections. Professional and compassionate. Love the way they follow up with a phone call to check on the patient after an illness or injury - as well as call to reorder monthly heart worm meds ... it's not a sales call it's really a gentle and sweet reminder (which I totally appreciate). I trust the staff who patiently answers all my questions and addresses my concerns. Their hours make it easy to schedule appointments and they have even stayed later to wait on a sick pup. Dr. Mokos and ALL her staff are so caring, helpful and friendly. When you walk in you are always greeted with a smile and a happy attitude. Everyone there makes you feel like your pet is THEIR pet. They lovingly take care of each animal (while calling them by name when you walk in!) like they were the only patient there that day. Dr. Mokos is extremely smart and that trait along with her true love for all animals make her the perfect vet. There are a lot closer Vet Clinics to my home in Summerville but I drive all the way to Hanahan so my babies can be taken care of by an office that truly caresand I mean ALL of them. Dr. Mokos was recommended by a friend after I was disappointed by the first vet I visited in this area.  I really love her and her staff.  I noticed someone wrote that the receptionist was rude, and I find that surprising.  After 2 years and dozen of calls to them, everyone has always, always been friendly, helpful and accommodating.   We have had a couple of emergency injury appointments over the years, and Dr. Mokos is so amazing.  She always calls to follow up personally.  For routine appointments, they aways take the time to address any concerns you have.  They evaluate your individual dog and their activities before just administering medications or vaccines they may not need.  I highly recommend them. I have 5 cats and have fostered kittens for CAS for several years. In that time, I've dealt with several vets. Dr. Mokos and her staff are the BEST vet's office I have ever encountered. She is very knowledgeable and thorough and her prices are very reasonable. I have taken several foster kittens in to her when I've had emergencies and CAS was not open, and we were charged nominal fees for the services provided. I have been going to Dr. Mokos for over two years now and have had nothing but a positive experience. All of the staff treats my dogs like they are their own. We had a 13-16 year old dog (he was a stray) that needed a really major surgery and they did it for what I thought was a really reasonable price. This clinic is very close to our home but we also tried another local clinic. This place wins hands down as the best vet clinic in this area. I worked at an animal clinic (extended hour clinic) to put myself through college so I hope I know a little bit about Vet clinics. I have never had a staff member here try to UP-sell their services. I go in with an issue, they evaluate my dog, and provide various options. The most recent visit they didn't charge me an office visit because their recommendation did not involve their services (i.e. pet training). Normally it is very difficult to leave a clinic with anything under $100. Their hours are minimal but the times we have called they opened up/stayed late just for us. On a separate note, we lost our dog once and because he was microchiped this place called us and returned him the same night. I cannot say enough nice things about this clinic/doctor/staff. Read Less
