My 10 month old kitten had breathing issues and was not wanting to eat. Dr. Nunn fit me in her schedule today. After testing, she told me that my kitten had the coronavirus with a bleak outcome. As difficult as it was to do, I had to have Kiki euthanized as I have another cat at home and wanted to protect her. Dr. Nunn is the best veterinarian I have ever been to. Unfortunately the news was not good, as a tumor had grown in her throat and was keeping her from breathing. They explained the exrays and explained everything in a kind but direct way. The staff treated me as family and loved me and my dog as if were had known eachother forever. We were able to go home and have 2 AMAZING days together before saying goodbye. Although my heart is still broken, I am SO THANKFUL for the wonderful staff at Hanahan Veterinary. With no family in the area, I felt comfortable coming in to let her go alone because the staff gave me more support than I could have asked for! They sat with me as I told stories, cried with me and hugged me like my family was with me. Dr. Nunn and staff, you will always have a special place in my heart. Dr. Nunn diagnosed Beau, our Dachshund, with Cushing's and I credit her with saving his life. She truly listened to our observations and did not dismiss them at all. They hurt our cat by screwing up a basic tooth surgery. Her eye popped out. They had us pay over one thousand dollars to bullshit around with the health of a family dog who OBVIOUSLY had cancer, according to the vet who put her down. They're friendly, but extremely incompetent. Positive reviews come from people with healthy pets. These people screwed up the lives of our animals. Yes i love this vet clinic. Besides my sister in law working here. I also love the staff. They r super nice, very profesional, know how to explain everything with ur pet whats going on.... I've been taking my pets here for as long as I can remember, from Sassy the kitty, Smokey the Weimeraner, Tobi the mixed wonderer and Missy miss playful wiggle butt, all of my pets have been part of my family and I've cried when they're sick or hurting but love them so much and everyone at HVC is wonderful, Dr Gerbec worked tirelessly with Smokey to make him comfortable from arthritis and seizures until the time came we had to put him down, he was a beautiful wonderful dog!! Dr Nunn and Dr Baker have both worked with Tobi and Missy, Tobi was a challenge that was difficult but I loved him and Dr Nunn did everything to help him, but he too was put down and Missy is a delight, she just got her rabies vaccine today along with other annual vaccines and nails clipped, heartworm check, ears cleaned and meds for heartworm prevention!! I love HVC and all the people who work there, Tasha, Rachel, Lisa, Dr Gerbec, Dr Nunn, Dr Baker and all the rest everyone there loves the pets that come in there and take excellent care of them for a fantastic price!!! I wouldn't dream of taking my dog anywhere else. When my first dane was diagnosed with Addison's Disease, they made our monthly trips something to look forward to instead of seeing it as a burden. Hanahan Vet Clinic is the BEST. My Dachshund was having sudden, terrible allergies at 5 years of age - nothing I did helped. Dr. Nunn got her on the road to recovery at a affordable price. There was no enormously expensive "surprises" at the checkout. They let me know ahead of time what they were doing and how much it would cost. Every penny I did spend...I was thrilled to hand over. I also had her anal glands done and nails trimmed with Hanahan. They took her back to another room and she was back with me in the exam room SUPER fast - I was shocked! "Gracie Rose" (my doxie) HATES nail trimming. They had even filed her little nails to perfection. There wasn't even a odor from having her anal glands done. They put something around the rear area and it was fresh and clean smelling. Most pleasantly surprising is Gracie's calmness. She stayed so calm! "Maddie", a Tech there was a true animal whisperer. She is amazing! Gracie Rose normally would have been extremely shook up from having nails trimmed and anal glands drained...She was just as calm as can be. Result: Dr. Nunn found the cause & solution to the allergies and now Gracie Rose is medication free (except for her monthly heart worm & flea pill) with a doc that she's nor I / my wallet are afraid to visit. I'm so thankful for this place. There is no other clinic like Hanahan. One stop for all your furry babies health needs. I highly recommend - Go see for yourself. NEVER bringing my dog back here again! These people have one thing in mind and it is not the welfare of the animal and that is MONEY!!! I brought my dog in to look at a hernia that was caused by a surgery they performed!!! I initially brought the dog in for diarrhea 3 months ago and that has turned into the dog getting cut open and several visits later and THOUSANDS of dollars later the dog STILL has the diarrhea and now has a scar on it's stomach that has now formed into a hernia! After a 45 minute visit and them taking blood work and x-rays I get a bill for $500!!! This dog has so many problems now that she would have NEVER had if I never had brought her there. She is crippled thanks to their surgery, she cant use the bathroom correctly, has a scratched cornea from them, and now this hernia! They seem more concerned with what they can rack up on the bill with a bunch of BS extras than the actual reason to why you brought the dog in in the first place! Starting to see a trend here and they used to not be like this but I guess they have to pay the several vets that work there now than actually focusing on the problem! They have nickel and dime me to death and I will NEVER bring my dog back to this place EVER AGAIN! I cant afford to keep bringing my dog in thanks to their inept vets procedures and expect me to pay thousands of dollars to give them an opportunity to fix their screw ups! They have fixed NOTHING and charged me THOUSANDS  through their throw it against the wall and see if it sticks style of medical care! We have been going here since we rescued our dog from Hurricane Katrina. We left our eight pound poodle there from Saturday to Monday. When we picked him up his eye was red and enflamed like bigger dogs had hurt him or one of the workers had hit him. His butt was also covered in poop. It looked like they hadn't let him out enough and he was forced to sit in his own mess. Hanahan veterinary clinic has a lot of great reviews, which makes me worry that there is little to choose from in the charleston area. While I am grateful that they do a great job of caring for our animals in their nice and clean facility, they are a bit too dollar hungry to keep my business. I wouldn't mind spending the money either if I felt business was being done with honesty, and unfortunately, that is not the case here.  Every time I take my dogs there, they try to convince me to purchase their heart worm meds or whatever else they're trying to sell. that wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so relentless and pushy about it. I like to order my dog's medications online because its significantly less expensive. I also recently discovered that hanahan veterinary clinic won't allow my online pet pharmacy to process my orders because they want me to physically go to their clinic, get a piece of paper and mail it to my online pharmacy myself. Not surprised, they want me to come in so that they can, yet again, try to push their products onto me when I have made it PERFECTLY CLEAR more often than once, that i do not want to purchase them there. Although many vets do this, it's just adding more fuel to the fire that every time I take my dogs in for a checkup, they give them dewormer or something unnecessary and without my permission just to add more to my bill. Also, just for those of you looking to get your dogs fixed, don't get the procedure done here. they'll charge you an arm and a leg. to get my male dog fixed, they told me it would cost up to $400! ha! i kid you not. So we took him to charleston animal society and they performed the procedure and microchipped him for only $105. I'm tired of being nickel and dimed by these people. I've been using Hanahan Vet since 2007. All of my labs have received wonderful care here, ranging from regular checkups through surgeries. The staff and doctors are knowledgeable and caring. The vets have always taken the extra time to explain a situation to me, even going as far to show me slides under the microscope so that I have a complete understanding of what is going on with my pet. Tasha knows your name as well as your pet's every time you walk in the door. Even in a phone call, she knows their names and always takes the time to ask how Buster and Ellie are doing. I started using HVC almost 35 years ago and did until we were transferred out of the area. When we returned to Charleston 18 years ago we also returned to HVC. They have taken care of our babies as if they were their own. They have rejoiced with us, offered encouragement during trying illnesses and even grieved with us. Dr. Baker and the team and Hanahan Vet did a great job today. I was referred by a friend when I urgently needed a vet this morning. They took me right in, ran only the necessarily tests and got my kitten the medicine she needed. I was in and out for $78! (That's a great price by the way with the work they did.)
