We just left there. We are on vacation with our 14 year old golden and he got his hip twisted around with his 3 brothers when he were getting up July 3rd. Called them at 8:05 am and got an appt for 1:30 (others were going to be later). Despite us not being an existing patient and it being the afternoon of July 3rd, we never felt rushed. From the person who checked us in and got us into an exam room to Dr Hennessey, everyone was very concerned for our old guy. Dr Hennessey took the time to explain the results of the exam and each of the medications prescribed. We were on vacation here in HHI and they were able to see our beagle/spaniel mix in a very short time from a ripped nail. I recently moved here from VA and read reviews that this was a good vet. Meet and greet went well so I opted to have my 13 year old dog start care, routine blood work supposedly revealed kidney issues. I was left a cryptic vmail by a staff person who said my dog needed kidney dog food. I called back nod got he recorder and nobody called back (was a Saturday but they were still open). I mad a second call. Got vmail. Called Monday and vet called me back and said she was proact...ive and that my dog did not need special food. My dog has not acted any different Y other then being a bit picky with food for about a week--now is back,to normal. I had my old vet send in all the shots and stuff that my dog gets. My dog had lime disease as a puppy and gets the booster every year. The vet didn't seem to think my dog needed it. I was still receiving reminder cards from my old vet, in VA. I called yesterday and asked why I was not,reviving reminders from them. I was told that lime disease shot as well as influenza is optional....well I was never given an option or asked. The staffer said that everyone was In a meeting and would call me back.......again no call. I waited for that call until 930 this morning, Never came so I went up to get all my dogs records( since I can't trust to forward to my new vet). I would not recommend this vet. Dr. Curtis Hennessey has been my trusted veterinarian for over 20 years. He has seen each of my cats from kitten hood through to the Rainbow bridge. He is knowledgeable and experienced, of course. But what is most meaningful is the time he takes to get to know you and your animal. Although he is a very busy doctor, he makes sure your pet gets the attention it needs and you have a thorough understanding of any diagnosis or procedure. I have a brand-new purebred Persian kitten, and I can't imagine taking him anywhere else but Plantation Animal Hospital for all of his healthcare needs. We are new to the Island and were lucky enough to need a vet on a non- urgent matter and were recommended Dr. Hennessey. He was empathetic, thorough and friendly during our dog's check up. Our dog (whose name is Hennessy) has improved under the suggested regimen. I was impressed when I went in to pick up Hennessy's medicine that the young lady at the desk asked about his well being and seemed genuinely happy that he was doing better. My cat had an emergency in the night. My own vet did not return a call from the emergency line within an hour - actually never. I called Dr. H based on a friend's recommendation. He walked me through getting my pet through the night and Plantation Animal Hospital has been our vet home since. Every staff member is warm, caring and professional. We have been taking our animals to Plantation Animal Hospital for several years now. They were recommended by a friend of ours. Both Dr. Hennessey and Dr. Meade are great vets. All our pets are elderly now and when we go in for a visit they spend a lot of time with them and make sure we know all the options available to us. It is very obvious they both really love animals and care deeply about their well being. We have had to call them a couple times after hours and one of them always gets back to us. Dr. Curt Hennessey and Dr. Molly Subasic recently helped my family through a very sad and painful event with our 14-year-old dog, Jake. While my mom was visiting me in CA, Jake was in a “luxury suite” at a boarding facility where he became immobile, developed horrible bed sores and was, ultimately, taken to Plantation Animal Hospital. (I will not name the boarding facility as the purpose of my review is to praise Dr. Hennessey and Dr. Molly and not to talk about my disgust with the boarding facility over what happened.) As soon as we were made aware of what had happened, my mom changed her flight and I booked a flight to HHI but it was 24 hours before we were able to get to the vet’s office. In an effort to make Jake comfortable, the vet’s office closed off an exam room and set Jake up on a bed in the corner with food and water right next to the bed and a stretcher wedged up against the side of the bed to prevent him from falling off. Dr. Hennessey was not scheduled to work on the day we arrived but he came to the office anyway to meet with us and to go over our options. It was clear at that point that it would be selfish to keep Jake here and Dr. Hennessey suggested that we take Jake home to spend some time with him before the inevitable. He also assured us that heaven only has “slow squirrels” which, of course, made me cry but I appreciated. We took Jake home for the afternoon and, after Plantation Animal Hospital closed, Dr. Molly and a wonderful vet tech whose name escapes me came over to my mom’s house and very kindly talked us through the process and put our Jakey to sleep. This was my first (and I suppose could be my only) interaction with Plantation Animal Hospital given that I live in California. However, my husband and I have three dogs of our own and I have visited MANY veterinary offices over the past few years so I can say with confidence that the compassion and care we received from Dr. Hennessey, Dr. Molly and everyone else at Plantation Animal Hospital is hard to find and, unfortunately, not reflective of what you get at every veterinary practice. They helped us get through a very difficult and upsetting event and I will forever be thankful to them for helping Jake cross over “rainbow bridge” in such a dignified and peaceful manner. They are too expensive, not really that nice, don't return phone calls and nickel and dime you to death. They even charge $10 to write a prescription (I'm talking about a $4 antibiotic), solely so you will buy it from them at a 500% mark up. After an okay visit with the Vet and being charged over $200 to look at some hot spots on my dog, I called back to get a prescription that I hadn't wanted to pay $10 for, but realized a week later that my dog did need it. I felt bad that I had been so against paying extra money that I returned the prescription and asked for a refund, but my dog needed it, so I called to see if I could come back and get it. I called on Friday, left message, no call back. Called on Saturday, left message, no call back. Called Monday before they even opened, left message, no call back. All messages were left with the same person, not on a machine. I finally called again Monday afternoon & got an explanation of their policy for charging for written prescriptions. So, apparently nobody called me back because I originally didn't want to pay $10 for them to write a prescription! I never once said anything about the charge in ANY of my messages, I just wanted the medicine for my dog. I've never felt so riped off and disgusted by a veterinary office. I have three animals one of which is 13 years old & I've never been treated so poorly. And I've never been charged extra for writing a prescription. Isn't that just part of the scope of their job as health care practitioners? As a pharmacist I think that what they are doing by charging for a prescription and charging ridiculously high prices for very cheap meds is unethical. Read Less

A must for any animal lovers. Rose is so kind, busy as can be but always smiling. A smiling staff, rare these days! Commpassionate, very clean and pleasant staff. I relocated from Philadelphia area and the vet I had there was so wonderful I did not know what I'd do without him, he was so knowledgable and kind. I had met Dr. H before but after getting to know him more and living here permanently again I can honestly say, he is good and I trust him 100%. So, as much as I love my vet in Philly, Dr. Hennessy and staff are just as great. The office is easy to get too, but yes I agree with other review, you have to look for it on your left after the turn and pray the person behind you isn't trying to run you off the rode to their next event (just the ususal daily people who drive 70 on a 45 mph curvey road). Dr. Hennessy is so kind and Jennifer, a newer addition to his staff is awesome too. I pray he never leaves here! One can tell Dr. Hennessy is a man who loves what he does and does it very well. MY VISIT STARTED OFF EXTREMELY WELL WITH A VERY CONCERNED RECPTIONIST. MY DOG HAD BEEN ILL FOR DAYS AND SHE WAS NOT GETTING BETTER. ALTHOUGH I HAD NOT BEEN THERE BEFORE THEY GOT ME RIGHT IN. DR HENNESSEY WAS VERY CONCERNED AND ALTHOUGH A LITTLE CONCERNED I AGREED TO DROP OFF MY BABY.
