Same vet for our 1 yr old female German Shepherd since our pet's birth. Consistent care, vaccinations are all on schedule, and they have always been able to fit her in when needed. After going to this vet for a year, I have become very disillusioned and would suggest to anyone looking for a caring vet to look elsewhere. This clinic has become increasingly corporate starting with time spent waiting in chairs in reception even with an appointment, to outrageous charges for flea medicines, to charging for an office visit when a simple vaccination is needed. The final straw for me was treating a kitten with severe URI and releasing him with no follow up information, no treatment documentation of any kind and promising a follow up call which never came.

I highly recommend Southside! All of the vets and vet techs are amazing - knowledgeable, professional, and caring! One of my cats was actually rescued and nursed back to health by one of the vets there. When this same cat developed a blocked ureter, they saw him immediately and gave me an accurate estimate of the cost of treatment. The vets are generous with their time, answering questions and offering advice and resources on a variety of topics.

Every single visit we have had an issue. One thing I have learned to count on is the 30 to 40 minute wait to be seen, which is not the impetus for this review. My dog is a part of my family, and as such I have certain expectations when it comes to her care. My dog is 14 and sees the vet more often than most with her health issues. It has been a revolving door of which vet sees her, no consistency. Each time the vet has to get to know her details because they haven't seen her before. I can't stand this impersonal model of treatment. Her medication was mislabeled as heart medicine once, we have received incorrect cost estimates for treatments, and have had to deal with miscommunications between this vet and specialists and our previous vet. I would not recommend South Side to anyone.

My 5 mo old puppy fell hard on his leg and thought it was broken. This happened as Southside was closing. They told me to get right there (saving me a trip to the ER Vet $$$$). Dr Carroll was so thorough,, Beau was still limping but she assured me no major broken bones. The office followed up the next day and Beau has made a full recovery. Everyone in that office is wonderful.

We have been coming to Southside since the very beginning and I can't say enough about the staff. Dr. Carroll is our favorite doctor. We had to put our old dog to sleep today with help from her. She was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout his entire illness and she treated our guy like he was her own. It was a hectic day (first day back after the snow storm), but she took her time and explained everything to us! I just can't say enough good things about her and the Techs, Tara and Danielle, too. Even the front office staff were lovely and respectful. When we are pet owners again, we'll be back!!

When we moved to SC our first thing was to find a vet for our dogs. We started using Southside due to it being close to where we were living and the positive reviews we had found. The staff is always friendly and they give us suggestions and options to deal with our bulldog's allergies and skin issues which have been a blessing. We moved and started to use a local vet but shortly switched back to Southside because the quality of care and the caring from all the staff just did not compare. For us the 40 min drive in was well worth it. I would highly suggest using them as they are knowledgable, friendly and truly seem to care about the animals they work with.

I bring my 3 dogs to Southside Animal Hospital. I have been to several area animal hospitals before finding this one. The care that my pups receive here is excellent. Members of my family bring their pets here as well and are very satisfied. I appreciate it when a Dr. takes time to hear any concerns or questions that I might have and then addresses them professionally. It's a good thing when you walk away a bit more educated. My dogs actually get excited to see the doctors and the vet techs because they make a fuss over them. Recently Dr. Sauls saved my dog's life after a Copperhead snake bite...for which I am very grateful. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

My wife and I will both personally vouch for this clinic in any way possible. Its not just that weve witnessed them (more than we had wished to) be the completely competent professionals that they are, but its evident that their first priority is for the well being of the animals. In our case, the staff made personal sacrifices of their own in order to perform an emergency surgery on our sick puppy. The overwhelming care did not stop once the surgery was over, but afterwards, Dr. Brock continued to follow up and personally walk us through each step of the uncertain recovery. We tell every dog owner we meet our story about our pup and Southside Animal Hospital, because quite frankly, without Dr. Brock, theres a better chance than not, that the story would have been one that we wouldn't have wanted to tell. Dr. Brock, Danielle, Dr. Moser, Rachel, Tara, J, and the rest of the staff went way outside what I would have ever expected from a Vet clinic, and saved our 14 week old puppys life. Dr. Brocks constant communication with us, and his selflessness in caring for our dog at the most inconvenient times, was what we believe to have made the difference in recognizing, diagnosing, and taking the necessary actions to operate on our dog in the timely manner that saved his life. We were initially finding it tough to find loyalty in a local vet, but after this incident, there is no doubt that we have found the one well be sticking to. This clinic treats dogs as if it was their own and thats exactly what we were searching for. In our opinion, they are the standard of what a 5 star rating should represent.

I bring both my dogs to Southside Animal Hospital. It took me three years to find an animal hospital that I was comfortable with. The entire staff here are fantastic. My dogs have seen both Dr. Sauls and Dr. Carroll and I couldn't be more pleased with the care they received. I have good veterinarians in my area, but travel 35 minutes to Southside because I feel they are the best for my furbabies.

Dr Saul and €J€ at Southside Animal Hospital saved our cat Max. We had just moved to Charleston area from another state with our much loved cat who€s been sick and cared for exactly two years by our previous vet place. Southside is night and day different from the previous practice as far as the level of competency and the result. Not that our previous animal hospital was a shabby, unaccredited place. It has multiple licensed vets, a nice/new facility and warm and friendly staff in a mid-sized city. The diagnoses given to us after seeing Max for the same condition for two years were vague and inconclusive (€could be this or that€), but we kept delaying our move to Charleston and hanging on the hope that they would finally find what is ailing him. After all, our previous practice has all of Max€s records and test results after test results since he was a baby. We finally come to realization that there is nothing they could do for Max and decided to move with supplies of daily pain killers and subQ fluid. We ran out of med supplies, and that€s when we met €J€ and felt compelled to bring Max in to see if they can do anything even though Max was very sick and weak at this point. Dr Saul was incredible! He is most competent, decisive and went into action as soon as he saw Max. He knew immediately what€s needed to be done to save Max and went into action. He put us in touch with the right care as well as supported us through the difficult time and decision making throughout the treatment. He places humanity and care for the pets above himself. We have never met anyone like him. We are truly lucky and grateful to have met him and his staff.

Dr. Saul is absolutely the worst vet I've ever used. I used to be a retail pharmacist, so I've been disrespected plenty, but have never felt as disrespected and dismissed as I did by Dr. Saul. He was dismissive and rude when a chairperson of a canine rescue (who also happens to be a well-educated and thoughtful MD) and I asked questions related to test results for 2 foster dogs. He seemed to take offense to our questioning anything he did, and even asking for the names of drugs he used on our dogs ... Not a good trait for any sort of medical/veterinary practitioner. Absolutely terrible.

Southside Animal Hospital is simply amazing in every way! The staff is very courteous, friendly, and patient with me and my husband with our constant rescheduling of our dog's appointments because our schedule is so crazy. The doctors are all wonderful, too, but I have to say something special about Dr. Saul. Dr. Saul is the most personable veterinarian I have ever met! He takes the time to make our dog comfortable and anxiety-free before he begins his examination, showing me that he truly cares about his patients. He is also very kind to take the time to show us how to do certain things ourselves, such as cleaning our dog's ears and emptying his anal glands. He makes a great teacher! Also, with our dog being part pitbull, we wanted someone who really understood the breed and appreciated them for the loving companions that they are, and he certainly does! He has pitbulls of his own, so I know my boy is getting the proper treatment he deserves. Furthermore, the clinic is always so clean, there is never much of a wait, and all of their services are very affordable. I cannot express enough how much I love taking my dog to Southside Animal Hospital, and I certainly recommend them to anyone in search of a kind and compassionate veterinarian!

The staff at Southside are professional and helpful. They provide extremely flexible appointment scheduling (online option available!), have great hours, and get you in and out in a timely manner. They always call to check up on your pet after a visit as well, which I really appreciate. Additionally, their pricing is very fair.
Upon your arrival, throughout your appointment, and even after you leave the office, the Southside staff always shows how much they care about your pet's health and best interests. I appreciate them and will continue to bring my pup to them for his healthcare needs.

My daughter brought home a stray and I took her here to check for microchip, the staff was so helpful and friendly. Sweet girl had no chip, they advised me on my options and gave me some great suggestions on finding her owners and what to do if I couldn't locate them. She went home the next day!
They were so great I scheduled one of my babies for an exam, he had a wrinkle infection as well as a ear infection. They prescribed a great treatment plan and meds, went over everything with me thoroughly. Then they called 2 days late just to make sure Fred was doing better. That was 6 months ago.
Just last week I took both fur babies in for their yearly immunizations. Since we were still new patients they went over each dogs history, previous shots, reactions, weight, etc. Fred loves people so he was no problem. Kole can be a little skittish and was a bit nervous Dr Sauls took the time to get to know him and become friendly before he did anything else. All went well.
My only complaint was the time I spent in waiting area 30 to 45 minutes ugh. However they did have a dog come in as an emergency and needed to be seen ASAP. So while I did have to wait I fully understand and truly appreciate the need to delay my visit. It is nice to know if I needed them to act quickly for my boys I can count on them and not be sent to the emergency hospital during their regular business hours.
Fred is at their office now getting his dental cleaning done, I don't anticipate any issues but will let you know if my opinion changes. I can say pre op instrructions and drop off went smoothly.

They were recommended to me. I was looking for a new Vet. My dog was recently diagnosed with cancer. She had her front leg amputated. I wanted someone who cared about my babies like I do. From the initial phone, to the initial visit I knew this was the place for my family. I also have a dog who's always had to have a muzzle on at the Vet. Dr Brock refused, sat in the chair with Hank on his lap. Talked to my Hank, pet him, and gained his trust. It worked, he let the Vet examine him no problems. From the Vet, to the staff, we are very happy. I would put this place in the AWESOME category. I believe there is NO other Vet, and staff for my babies..

I've brought my pets here for years and my faith in them has slowly eroded. Last visit was final straw. After 35-minute wait for appointment, my cat's annual exam was rushed and important things were missed, despite her being clearly ill and having lost almost half of her body weight since last exam. Took cat to another vet two days later who found a heart murmur and ulcers in her mouth (a sign of renal failure). Southside vet did not even look in mouth. Staff was rude and openly discussed how the exam would be rushed so they could *finally* get to lunch. Owner did not respond to email informing him of second vet's findings and his staff's unprofessional conduct.Had my cat not been so sick I wouldn't have sought a second opinion. I'm glad I did as it provided insight into the quality of care I would not normally have. I wish I had known sooner.

After going to this vet for a year, I have become very disillusioned and would suggest to anyone looking for a caring vet to look elsewhere. This clinic has become increasingly corporate starting with time spent waiting in chairs in reception even with an appointment, to outrageous charges for flea medicines, to charging for an office visit when a simple vaccination is needed. The final straw for me was treating a kitten with severe URI and releasing him with no follow up information, no treatment documentation of any kind and promising a follow up call which never came.

When this same cat developed a blocked ureter, they saw him immediately and gave me an accurate estimate of the cost of treatment. Every single visit we have had an issue. One thing I have learned to count on is the 30 to 40 minute wait to be seen, which is not the impetus for this review. My dog is a part of my family, and as such I have certain expectations when it comes to her care. My dog is 14 and sees the vet more often than most with her health issues. It has been a revolving door of which vet sees her, no consistency. Each time the vet has to get to know her details because they haven't seen her before. I can't stand this impersonal model of treatment. Her medication was mislabeled as heart medicine once, we have received incorrect cost estimates for treatments, and have had to deal with miscommunications between this vet and specialists and our previous vet. I would not recommend South Side to anyone.

My 5 mo old puppy fell hard on his leg and thought it was broken. This happened as Southside was closing. They told me to get right there (saving me a trip to the ER Vet $$$$). Dr Carroll was so thorough,, Beau was still limping but she assured me no major broken bones. The office followed up the next day and Beau has made a full recovery. Everyone in that office is wonderful.

We have been coming to Southside since the very beginning and I can't say enough about the staff. Dr. Carroll is our favorite doctor. We had to put our old dog to sleep today with help from her. She was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout his entire illness and she treated our guy like he was her own. It was a hectic day (first day back after the snow storm), but she took her time and explained everything to us! I just can't say enough good things about her and the Techs, Tara and Danielle, too. Even the front office staff were lovely and respectful. When we are pet owners again, we'll be back!!

When we moved to SC our first thing was to find a vet for our dogs. We started using Southside due to it being close to where we were living and the positive reviews we had found. The staff is always friendly and they give us suggestions and options to deal with our bulldog's allergies and skin issues which have been a blessing. We moved and started to use a local vet but shortly switched back to Southside because the quality of care and the caring from all the staff just did not compare. For us the 40 min drive in was well worth it. I would highly suggest using them as they are knowledgable, friendly and truly seem to care about the animals they work with.

I bring my 3 dogs to Southside Animal Hospital. I have been to several area animal hospitals before finding this one. The care that my pups receive here is excellent. Members of my family bring their pets here as well and are very satisfied. I appreciate it when a Dr. takes time to hear any concerns or questions that I might have and then addresses them professionally. It's a good thing when you walk away a bit more educated. My dogs actually get excited to see the doctors and the vet techs because they make a fuss over them. Recently Dr. Sauls saved my dog's life after a Copperhead snake bite...for which I am very grateful. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

My wife and I will both personally vouch for this clinic in any way possible. Its not just that weve witnessed them (more than we had wished to) be the completely competent professionals that they are, but its evident that their first priority is for the well being of the animals. In our case, the staff made personal sacrifices of their own in order to perform an emergency surgery on our sick puppy. The overwhelming care did not stop once the surgery was over, but afterwards, Dr. Brock continued to follow up and personally walk us through each step of the uncertain recovery. We tell every dog owner we meet our story about our pup and Southside Animal Hospital, because quite frankly, without Dr. Brock, theres a better chance than not, that the story would have been one that we wouldn't have wanted to tell. Dr. Brock, Danielle, Dr. Moser, Rachel, Tara, J, and the rest of the staff went way outside what I would have ever expected from a Vet clinic, and saved our 14 week old puppys life. Dr. Brocks constant communication with us, and his selflessness in caring for our dog at the most inconvenient times, was what we believe to have made the difference in recognizing, diagnosing, and taking the necessary actions to operate on our dog in the timely manner that saved his life. We were initially finding it tough to find loyalty in a local vet, but after this incident, there is no doubt that we have found the one well be sticking to. This clinic treats dogs as if it was their own and thats exactly what we were searching for. In our opinion, they are the standard of what a 5 star rating should represent.

I bring both my dogs to Southside Animal Hospital. It took me three years to find an animal hospital that I was comfortable with. The entire staff here are fantastic. My dogs have seen both Dr. Sauls and Dr. Carroll and I couldn't be more pleased with the care they received. I have good veterinarians in my area, but travel 35 minutes to Southside because I feel they are the best for my furbabies.

Dr Saul and €J€ at Southside Animal Hospital saved our cat Max. We had just moved to Charleston area from another state with our much loved cat who€s been sick and cared for exactly two years by our previous vet place. Southside is night and day different from the previous practice as far as the level of competency and the result. Not that our previous animal hospital was a shabby, unaccredited place. It has multiple licensed vets, a nice/new facility and warm and friendly staff in a mid-sized city. The diagnoses given to us after seeing Max for the same condition for two years were vague and inconclusive (€could be this or that€), but we kept delaying our move to Charleston and hanging on the hope that they would finally find what is ailing him. After all, our previous practice has all of Max€s records and test results after test results since he was a baby. We finally come to realization that there is nothing they could do for Max and decided to move with supplies of daily pain killers and subQ fluid. We ran out of med supplies, and that€s when we met €J€ and felt compelled to bring Max in to see if they can do anything even though Max was very sick and weak at this point. Dr Saul was incredible! He is most competent, decisive and went into action as soon as he saw Max. He knew immediately what€s needed to be done to save Max and went into action. He put us in touch with the right care as well as supported us through the difficult time and decision making throughout the treatment. He places humanity and care for the pets above himself. We have never met anyone like him. We are truly lucky and grateful to have met him and his staff.

Visited here as new residents of Charleston and the visit was s pleasure from beginning to end. Staff was amazing and Brock was so thorough and reassuring. I was asked to call in the next morning to follow up, got an email with info about their app and today I got a welcome card signed by the whole staff. What a class act!

Southside Animal Hospital is amazing! This past week I had a family emergency in North Carolina. I packed for the trip in full panic mode. As soon as I drove over the SC/NC border, I realized I accidentally left my 16 y/o dog's vital heart medication at home. Without hesitation Jay and Dr. Sauls helped figure a way for me to obtain a few days worth. Lexi and I are forever greatful! Dr. Sauls I hope you realize what a wonderful asset Jay is to Southside!!! Dr. Saul is absolutely the worst vet I've ever used. I used to be a retail pharmacist, so I've been disrespected plenty, but have never felt as disrespected and dismissed as I did by Dr. Saul. He was dismissive and rude when a chairperson of a canine rescue (who also happens to be a well-educated and thoughtful MD) and I asked questions related to test results for 2 foster dogs. He seemed to take offense to our questioning anything he did, and even asking for the names of drugs he used on our dogs ... Not a good trait for any sort of medical/veterinary practitioner. Absolutely terrible.

Southside Animal Hospital is simply amazing in every way! The staff is very courteous, friendly, and patient with me and my husband with our constant rescheduling of our dog's appointments because our schedule is so crazy. The doctors are all wonderful, too, but I have to say something special about Dr. Saul. Dr. Saul is the most personable veterinarian I have ever met! He takes the time to make our dog comfortable and anxiety-free before he begins his examination, showing me that he truly cares about his patients. He is also very kind to take the time to show us how to do certain things ourselves, such as cleaning our dog's ears and emptying his anal glands. He makes a great teacher! Also, with our dog being part pitbull, we wanted someone who really understood the breed and appreciated them for the loving companions that they are, and he certainly does! He has pitbulls of his own, so I know my boy is getting the proper treatment he deserves. Furthermore, the clinic is always so clean, there is never much of a wait, and all of their services are very affordable. I cannot express enough how much I love taking my dog to Southside Animal Hospital, and I certainly recommend them to anyone in search of a kind and compassionate veterinarian!

I have a very big and very nervous rescue dog. Since coming to Southside, I have been very pleased with Dr. Sauls and his staff, how they approach my pup, are kind and patient with him, and he responds so well!
The staff at Southside are professional and helpful. They provide extremely flexible appointment scheduling (online option available!), have great hours, and get you in and out in a timely manner. They always call to check up on your pet after a visit as well, which I really appreciate. Additionally, their pricing is very fair.
Upon your arrival, throughout your appointment, and even after you leave the office, the Southside staff always shows how much they care about your pet's health and best interests. I appreciate them and will continue to bring my pup to them for his healthcare needs.

We recently moved to area and needed to find a new Veterinarian for our babies.
My daughter brought home a stray and I took her here to check for microchip, the staff was so helpful and friendly. Sweet girl had no chip, they advised me on my options and gave me some great suggestions on finding her owners and what to do if I couldn't locate them. She went home the next day!
They were so great I scheduled one of my babies for an exam, he had a wrinkle infection as well as a ear infection. They prescribed a great treatment plan and meds, went over everything with me thoroughly. Then they called 2 days late just to make sure Fred was doing better. That was 6 months ago.
Just last week I took both fur babies in for their yearly immunizations. Since we were still new patients they went over each dogs history, previous shots, reactions, weight, etc. Fred loves people so he was no problem. Kole can be a little skittish and was a bit nervous Dr Sauls took the time to get to know him and become friendly before he did anything else. All went well.
My only complaint was the time I spent in waiting area 30 to 45 minutes ugh. However they did have a dog come in as an emergency and needed to be seen ASAP. So while I did have to wait I fully understand and truly appreciate the need to delay my visit. It is nice to know if I needed them to act quickly for my boys I can count on them and not be sent to the emergency hospital during their regular business hours.
Fred is at their office now getting his dental cleaning done, I don't anticipate any issues but will let you know if my opinion changes. I can say pre op instrructions and drop off went smoothly.

They were recommended to me. I was looking for a new Vet. My dog was recently diagnosed with cancer. She had her front leg amputated. I wanted someone who cared about my babies like I do. From the initial phone, to the initial visit I knew this was the place for my family. I also have a dog who's always had to have a muzzle on at the Vet. Dr Brock refused, sat in the chair with Hank on his lap. Talked to my Hank, pet him, and gained his trust. It worked, he let the Vet examine him no problems. From the Vet, to the staff, we are very happy. I would put this place in the AWESOME category. I believe there is NO other Vet, and staff for my babies..

I've brought my pets here for years and my faith in them has slowly eroded. Last visit was final straw. After 35-minute wait for appointment, my cat's annual exam was rushed and important things were missed, despite her being clearly ill and having lost almost half of her body weight since last exam. Took cat to another vet two days later who found a heart murmur and ulcers in her mouth (a sign of renal failure). Southside vet did not even look in mouth. Staff was rude and openly discussed how the exam would be rushed so they could *finally* get to lunch. Owner did not respond to email informing him of second vet's findings and his staff's unprofessional conduct.Had my cat not been so sick I wouldn't have sought a second opinion. I'm glad I did as it provided insight into the quality of care I would not normally have. I wish I had known sooner.
