This is absolutely the best Vet clinic anywhere in town. It took me many years to wonder into their front door but thank goodness one day I did. The care and compassion they have given our dog is something you just don't find nowadays. When he was diagnosed with diabetes they helped us through the process and the doctor called EVERY day to check on him. He recently passed and again, not only Dr. Hooper but the entire staff was genuinely kind and comforting. The personal condolences messages and card from all of the staff truly touched our hearts. The doctors and staff take such great care of my pack i just can't say enough. Also, anytime I find a stray they have been so great at getting them in and helping. So this place was good a few years ago. Now they are just like any other place taking you for your money. Dont pay any attention to the good reviews, they are from people who wrote good ones to get the free flea medicine. Knowing that you love your pet and you will do anything for them including digging in your wallet or purse. I took my American Eskimo dog to college park vet clinic because she was throwing up alot. I dropped her off because for some reason the vets feel they need a two hour lunch. They got to her and called me back saying that she was fine and they wanted to do an x-ray for a further look. So I said ok because I love my dog. They called back and said to come and pick her up. I took her home and she was lethargic and hanging her head like she wanted to throw up but couldn't. She was given nausea medicine so she couldn't throw up. She ate later that night and the next morning out comes a sock with her poop. But the vet just told me there was nothing in her and she was fine. So when I called and asked for a refund for just the xray, they were rude and couldn't care less even though they failed to find the sock. First thing they want to talk about is extra services so be prepared to shell out money. I would not take my precious pet here if I were you!! Read Less

I chose this vet because they are 5 minutes from my home. I took my dog and cat there for annual vaccines with no issues. However, when my cat became sick, they dropped the ball and I will never go back.I took my cat there because he had been vomiting. He couldn't even take a bite of food without immediately regurgitating it. He was acting like something was stuck in his throat.  I saw Dr. Fortin. He ran some bloodwork and took abdominal x-rays. When the bloodwork came back normal, he recommended they keep him and administer barium so they could track the movement to look for a possible blockage in his stomach or intestines. I left him there for a few hours and when I went to consult with them on their findings, the doctor told me that his intestines looked "angry" but that it appeared that the barium was moving through without obstruction.  They gave him fluids to keep him hydrated and an injection that they told me would make it so he wouldn't vomit for at least 24 hours. His end diagnosis was that he had developed a food allergy (*eyeroll*) and sent him home on antibiotics and a VERY expensive hydrolyzed protein cat food (8ish # bag for $60). I didn't have much confidence in his diagnosis but I paid the bill ($400) and took him home. We hadn't been home for even 5 minutes and my cat threw up again. I KNEW something was wrong so I took him to another vet in West Ashley for a second opinion.  Long story short, after seeing that vet she was worried about the x-rays Dr. Fortin had already done. She saw evidence (that he missed) that my cat may have an obstruction. She sent me to the ER vet/internal specialist in N. Charleston who agreed that the xrays showed reason for concern. She did an endoscopy and removed a large hairball that had gotten stuck in his esophagus. My cat would have died had I listened to Dr. Fortin!! More than $2000 later in 3 different vet bills and my cat was doing much better. I was left with a very expensive bag of food I couldn't use and antibiotics that he didn't need. In fact, the antibiotics he prescribed were triple the correct dose!  Two other vets confirmed that! I will NEVER take any of my pets back to College Park Rd. Vet. While they are fine for vaccines, I refuse to give them any of my money! Read Less

Honest and friendly staff. Low costs. Vet did not try and talk me into the most expensive procedure for my cats ingrown nail removal and gave me multiple options with upfront pricing. My wife also had a great experience when bringing our dogs in for annual shots and check ups. Read Less

Switched here this year. Staff is so much nicer than at our previous vet. The vet takes all the time you need to answer questions. Never rushes out. All staff is beyond amazing with my very nervous dog. Keep peanut butter on hand and treat him like a king. Pricing is great too. Read Less

The staff is always friendly, both in the front of the house and the back, the office feels clean, especially considering it's a veterinarians office, and you can tell that each person really cares about you and your pet. Let me start out by saying that I have struggled with finding a vet clinic that I feel comfortable taking my animals to. Since I moved to South Carolina five years ago, I have switched veterinary practices over five times, and none have them have satisfied me more than this clinic. Not only are the receptionists respectful and courteous, but the whole clinic feels inviting and calmer than any other place I have taken my animals. In the waiting area they even have a bunch of toys that you can play with your dog to help comfort him in the new environment. Not only are they on such close proximity to my home, but they also offer a Military discount. I look forward to taking my animals here, because I am confident that the staff will work with me to provide the best care for my pets. :) Read Less

We love College Park Road Veterinary! We have been going there for two years with our dogs and cats. Even though we moved to Cane Bay, we still make the 30 minute drive to see Dr. Fortin.  His kind and caring demeanor helped us during the time we had to say goodbye to our 15-year old Labrador. He never recommends overly expensive treatment and always explains things very well so that we can make informed choices. Both the back office techs and the front office are super friendly and professional. And I find the prices to be very reasonable. We had to put our sweet Shortcake to sleep today:( Just wanted to say that I'm so glad we chose this place. While things like these are never easy. Everyone there was so nice & sympathetic to the decision we had made. I was allowed to have a few moments with her after she was sedated. On Monday, our chinchilla was severely injured and we knew he needed to be euthanized. Being the holiday, our regular vet wasn't open. Nor was anyone else really. College Park Road Vets advised that we could bring him in immediately even though they don't work with exotics and we weren't patients of theirs. They were so good to us and him in our very difficult moments. Today we received a hand written condolence card from Dr.Fortin and his team with very kind words. We needed a last minute appointment before we left town and they made sure to fit us in. They were so helpful and sweet. They aren't pushy, they don't try and sell you anything like some places do and they were very knowledgeable. They even let my 5 year old listen to our Puppies heartbeat and let her "help". I feel so grateful that your entire staff was kind and patient with our beloved Bucky. Mack and I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and sincerity shown by everyone there. It made his passing a little easier to handle although we miss him greatly. Sassy was confused for about 10 days, but we tried to pay a lot of attention to him and I think he will be okay. I've had nothing but great experiences with this Vet clinic. Each time I have taken my dog here,the wait was never too long. They were very informative, compassionate, and transparent about everything, which I appreciate. They have a lot of procedure and treatment options, so they were able to tailor the best and reasonable recommendation for my dog. I also like having options and did not have to decide right away. We had a great experience, though not in the traditional sense. Our 6 year old orange tabby Simba was having some medical issues and after many attempts to keep him with us it was finally time we realized we had to let him go. The staff was there for us 110% from bringing the obvious essentials for this emotional situation and giving us the exam room to say goodbye for close to a hour. The biggest surprise came later that week when we received a letter expressing their remorse for our loss I was taken back by their kindness throughout the entire process and will continue to use them for all of our future animal needs Read Less

My mother & I have been coming to this office for 10+ years. We've had several issues throughout the years & even still decided not to find another vet. My mother took her dogs to a near by groomers. (Special pets hair & care) She later discovered her dog's neck was cut & became infected. She went back to College Park and was told that it looked like a puncture from "shears" by Dr. Mathew Fortin. The story all of a sudden changed once she spoke to the groomers & told them the doctor told her it was done by shears. How convenient that the groomer's business cards are left on the counter at College Park Vet. Later on his eye became infected.(always rubbing his eyes) She was told that his eye would have to come out immediately & the surgery would be $1,000+. She decided to get a second opinion. She went to a ER vet and found out that she was prescribed the wrong drops. The drops made the pressure in his eye worse. The specialist also told us that his eye didn't need to come out. She later on went back to the specialist & everything was fine but that's not what Dr. Katie Hill initially said. Why did the doctor prescribe the wrong drops??? There was no reason for his eye to come out! I question the integrity over this whole office. She has now decided to end her services & go somewhere else. It's sad that the trust has been broken just to earn a BUCK! I came back in March to purchase Trifexis for my dog. There was a special going on to buy a twelve month supply and receive a $50 rebate. Mrs. Ledilia Johnson was nice enough to offer to submit it for me. I confirmed my address before I left because my mailing is different than my physical. I was planning to use it towards my son's second birthday on May 30th. Two months went by and there was still no rebate. I called & spoke to a supervisor. I was informed my address was incorrectly submitted. I went to the lengths to make sure she had the correct address & she still couldn't do her job. Apologies mean nothing when the correct steps could have been taken especially when you're the office manager. I've decided this was the last straw for me. I'm taking my dog's records & NEVER coming back. I will let all my animal lover friends know to avoid this place like the plague. Please take your animals anywhere but here!!! My sweet Lucky dog has extreme allergies and they have gone above and beyond in making him more comfortable and giving me peace of mind!! They also recently treated by grand-dog and provided expedient and successful care to our little Penny girl. I LOVE this office and everyone that works there!!! If you need a vet, you must give them a try. It is worth the drive to have such a caring and compassionate team :) I have owned dogs all of my life and College Park Road Vet Clinic is simply the best veterinary office I've ever used. The staff are all friendly and professional. The doctors are compassionate and truly care about my dogs' health. They call to follow up and also understand my limited budget. I was previously with another local chain veterinary clinic and didnt feel like they addressed my issues with my Rottweiler Dina. A friend recommended College Park Vet and we haven't looked back. The staff and Dr's at CPV are so gentle and understanding of my very nervous baby even offering to do home visits. This spring we took our newest addition to the family for a stay here while we were vacationing,  our girl, Birdie She was very happy when we picked her up, she had plenty of food, water, toys and clean litter . The cats are boarded away from the dogs for their comfort, and when you pull into the driveway, you will see the neighbors cats just chilling in the shade. Dr Hill has taken amazing care of my little guys. Rescued a stray cat, and she got him all patched up and in good shape. The office staff is always friendly and inviting, as well as efficient. Haven't had a bad visit yet. Prices are very reasonable also. Cost me less than $200 for a procedure that Banfield wanted almost $500 for, so, that should speak for itself on value. Read Less

Your medical team discovered it was [nasty] parasites which was the cause of his health problems. Our boxer Rocky is not just a pet to my family, he's the fourth child. Finding a great vet to care for him was extremely important. Dr. Fortin and his staff at College Park Rd veterinary are AMAZING!!! They are so caring, friendly and are always there when you need them. My 5 year old son likes to listen to his heart and be involved in his exams as much as possible. They always let him help and explain everything to us in detail so we know what's going on. I have used this vet for almost 30 years. I loved it when the Green's were there. At some point over time, the staff became less compassionate and more money hungry. I rescued a pekinese last April with skin issues. They had been treating him all his life, but never did a basic tape test to find what's wrong. He suffered for 4.5 years until I found a much better vet who immediately tested him and began treatment. He now has hair and no raw and bleeding spots. He can take walks now because the pads aren't swollen and raw. He actually has eyelashes!! He plays with toys that crinkle and is very happy. Thank God I found a different vet! Read Less

Had used the boarding facility before but never the vets office. I came upon it after having to decide on a pocket book friendly place to have our very sick dog put down this month. I called and was able to get an immediate appointment to put our beloved baby to sleep. They were wonderful, right from the time we walked in the door until we walked out. They provided the utmost best care for our fur baby and comforted us throughout the process. I was extra surprised when they made us a free paw print in clay and followed up with us by sending a very sweet bereavement card in the mail. I just adopted a cat from Charleston Animal Society and needed to get a wellness exam done. This vet clinic, along with many others, partners with CAS to provide free wellness exams. I chose this one because it's closest to my home. I scheduled an appointment online a couple days beforehand, which was very convenient, and I was also able to fill out and print the new patient form ahead of time. The facility is great, the vet techs are great, and the vet is great. They provided excellent care and they were all very friendly. A big plus- they thought my cat was adorable. I will definitely be back in September with my other cat for his vaccines. Read Less

We have used College Park many times in the past several years and are VERY happy with them.  The staff is wonderful and treat our dogs great.  They're always willing to accommodate special requests.  Our dogs always come home happy and healthy.  Pets are bathed before they go home.  Our dogs are also groomed there at an extremely reasonable rate.  We also use College Park Veterinary Clinic next door.  Our dogs are well cared for by everyone there. We have 4 dogs, so we're constantly going to the vets. This place has an awesome welcoming staff. We've had emergencies and called in that same day and was able to get our dog seen without an appointment. The fees are reasonable and not outrageous. They definitely go out of their way to make your pet feel comfortable. I recommend them to my co workers, it's how I came across them from a fellow co worker.
