I cannot begin to thank Dr. Epstein and the staff of Animal Medical Center of Mt. Pleasant, SC.We moved here two years ago from Knoxville, Tenn. with our family and two aging dogs. Both Daisy and Taz received the best treatment from all the doctors and staff. Needless to say, because of their ages and health issues, we were regulars at the medical center. Dr. Epstein, for the past year, has helped us so much with many difficulties in keeping Daisy and Taz healthy, despite so many obstacles.Two weeks ago, we knew with Dr. Epstein's amazing nurturing help, we needed to let go of both Daisy (14 years old) and Taz (11 years old) within four days of each other. This was my first visit to the Animal Medical Center and I was very impressed! Everyone was sooo nice and helpful. I got there a little early and they took me right back. I appreciate the time they take to discuss everything that needed to get done. I never felt like they were pushy in their suggestions. They took my dog back, who is very dramatic ‍, to give her shots and cut her nails. Being that she is dramatic my dog started yelling while getting her nails cut. Dr. Fenamore came right out tell me what was going on and to ease any worries I had. Thy were very sweet to my dog Bailey too. They made sure she had some time to calm down and figured out it will take two vet techs and a vet to sing and dance to successfully cut her nails but they were very happy to help. I don't think I can say enough kind words about the care that my dog, Ziggy, received from Dr. Epstein and his staff.  What I thought was going to be the saddest day, turned into a day of hope.  Ziggy is almost 12 years old with severe osteoarthritis.  His previous vet was very conservative in her approach, which was not the right approach for Ziggy.  His pain became so severe that it was crippling.  He wasn't able to walk or use bathroom on his own and it came on quickly.  I took Ziggy for a second opinion and to see if he needed to be put down.  Dr. Epstein gave me hope and started Ziggy on a new pain regimen and he made a miraculous recovery.  I feel that Dr. Epstein is a very honest and realistic veterinarian and I fully trust him with my pets' care.  I may not have forever left with my sweet old man, but I at least have more quality time with him and he finally acts like himself again.  I will now be taking all of my fur babies to AMCMP! I recently adopted a new puppy and wanted to establish her with a vet. AMCMP is literally around the corner from my apartment, so we were able to walk there (well, one of us walked halfway and then wanted to be carried). The receptionist knew who we were when we walked in and was able to quickly and easily put us both at ease. We were guided to our exam room - it is rather small but it was very clean, and Steven was able to sniff it out and get comfortable. The vet's assistant came in to get basic information and find out what questions I had, and brought in a handful of treats to help make the pup even more comfortable. She then took her into a back room (there is a window on the door so I could have looked if I wanted to) for a quick weigh and test, and Dr. Briley came in. She spent quite a while in with us, answering my questions and offering very helpful advice as a vet and pet owner. She made sure to set my expectations about upcoming care and appointments, which was very helpful. I've had decent vet experiences and negative vet experiences so I didn't know what to expect, but I was really impressed with the staff here and hope that trend continues! Read Less

Excellent care! I've had dogs my entire life, which means I've had veterinarian visits my entire life. This facility is wonderful.1. The staff is always friendly, from the receptionist to the technicians to the veterinarians. I am always greeted with a smile and I always feel appreciated and I feel that my puppy is cared for. It makes a difference!2. The facility is clean, every time. I have been bringing my pup here since she was 8 weeks old - several visits. No issues with cleanliness or odors.3. Responsiveness is fantastic. My little jewel had what turned out to be a bad reaction to a medication and vomited and had diarrhea the next day - at four pounds, this can be very serious. They accommodated us very quickly.4. They don't oversell me on any expensive or unnecessary treatments. I take care of humans for a living, so I have a tiny bit of knowledge. The vet discusses the options for vaccinations/ meds/ preventives and treats me like a partner in my pupper's care.5. Great location, ample parking, water and coffee in the waiting room. I came here as a new client for the first time. I had been in search of a Vet that was willing to take over the medical care of my pug, who has chronic, complex medical issues. The speciality vet she was going to is great but they don't do wellness care-heart worm, flea and tick  prevention, vaccines, etc. I called this place after doing some research and word of mouth. I explained to the very nice receptionist that I was looking for a experienced Vet that was comfortable managing all of her care and meds. They obtained all her records themselves. I received a call from Dr. Epstein himself who explained he reviewed everything and was happy to take her on and had experience with her medical issues. It was clear he reviewed her records thoroughly based on the conversation. I came in for appt and I was very impressed. Beautiful facility, impeccably clean. Everyone from the receptionist, vet tech and Dr. Epstein were fantastic. While my pug was having her labs, etc done, I was given a full tour of the place. High end ct scans, ultrasounds, full on site pharmacy. They take on emergency cases, same day spots if needed. Also hours are until 6 with Saturday appt's until 1pm. My 9 week old puppy broke his leg, and as a first time visitor to the vet in general, I was scared. But Animal Medical Center really lived up to their reputation. Dr. Briley not only made my poor pup feel better, she made me feel better. I am always greeted with a smile - all of the staff are very pleasant and they all love what they do!! We love AMC! We have always had a wonderful experience with this vet, which is why we trust them with our baby! The front desk staff is always friendly and professional. Our chocolate lab is always a little nervous about the vet -- can you blame her? At our last appointment the front desk girls let Shelly pick out a new toy to have with her during her appointment and they let her take it home! She loves that blue bunny and always brings it to bed. Our vet, Dr. Steven Epstein, is the best. He has an incredibly genuine personality and wonderful bedside manner. He always has our baby's best interest at heart. Dr. Epstein is always there if we have a problem or a "silly" question and he never makes us feel bad about asking. My husband and I have known Dr. Epstein in his "pre vet" years as a pet sitter. We always knew that he would become an excellent veterinarian. We reunited with Dr. Epstein in 2015 at Animal Medical Center with our very sick kitty. After an examination and blood work, there was nothing that could be done except to end the pain. It was so reassuring to have a caring, compassionate vet/friend and staff to help us as our sweet kitty drew his last breath. However, we also have two happy, healthy cats that are being taken care of by this group of animal loving professionals. The staff is accommodating with our schedule, kind and helpful. I'm new to the area and needed to get my Cavalier, Jackson, in ASAP for an issue. I called in this morning and was able to get an appointment within the hour. From the first phone call and through the entire experience Jackson and I were treated with kindness, understanding, and respect. I got lucky today because it's often difficult to find this quality of care from the front desk all the way to the DVM. Dr. Senf saw Jackson today and he was thorough, explanatory, and I could tell he truly cares about the animals he treats. My English Labrador, Chance, was terrified to go to her previous vet, and it became a really stressful endeavor to get her there and through the door. I had driven by Animal Medical Clinic many times and decided it was time to try a new vet. I'm so glad we did. What a difference! Chance's response to the new environment was overwhelmingly positive. She didn't cower beneath my legs, she was curious, happy and energetic. Dr. Michael was wonderful with our girl! He got down on the floor to her level and she responded with licks and tail wagging! I cannot thank Dr Epstein and all the staff of Animal Medical center of Mount Pleasant enough for their care and concern for our cat. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and were not patients as our cat's primary vet had cancelled his Friday appointment and said they couldn't see him until Monday. As he had been vomiting for 4 days we were very concerned so walked into Animal Medical Center. The staff was so incredibly friendly and concerned and got him right in even though it was close to closing. I forewarned them that he did not like going to the vet and was considered very unfriendly by his prior vet, but they were not concerned and said no worries. Our prior vet always demanded he be sedated to be seen. Not here, the staff knew exactly how to handle him and won him over. No one rushed us as it was past closing and all the staff were friendly addressing all our questions and concerns. They thoroughly explained the process we would go through to rule out different causes and asked permission to perform tests along the way. We felt completely in the loop regarding our pets care and part of the decision making process. As it turns out, our cat had a severe infection from a surgery performed by the prior vet over two months earlier. My husband and I had been concerned the wound had not been healing properly and had asked to bring him in for a consult and we were told to text a picture of the wound. Then were told he was fine and did not need to come back. Obviously that was not the case. Irregardless the staff at Animal Medical Center stepped into a problem that was not of their making and through their care and compassion probably saved our beloved pet's life. We cannot thank them enough, nor recommend them highly enough. I rarely write reviews but wholeheartedly recommend without reservation the Animal Medical Center of Mount Pleasant. We love Animal Medical Center. They are always willing to fit you in if you need to be seen, always pleasant and professional. Yesterday our senior cairn terrier had a dental and was first on the schedule. I brought him in at 8AM and received a call from Dr. Karen Spencer at 9:30 AM that he was already done and awake from anesthesia. They go the extra mile to make it about what is best for your pet. I used to like this place as the techs are all really friendly and caring. I also liked Dr. Spencer as she appeared honest and kind. She told me that my frenchie definitely didn't need a surgery to help his breathing and that the surgery was not a benign one and not something to be done if not totally necessary. I later met with Dr. Senf (the staff surgeon) who told me the opposite. He said it can only help and in fact, would make my dog an entirely new dog. He assured me that his breathing would be so noticeably improved and his life would be so much easier in the heat. I should have paid attention to my instincts which told me something was off about this guy. I know he did something as Winston was puking blood when I picked him up(I was assured this was normal as they literally cut and lasered his throat), but after Winston healed, I have noticed no difference at all. He still snores and grunts walking around loud as ever and more importantly gets completely out of breath and overheated just as easily as before. He is only 2 now, so this isn't due to aging. It's also been about 7 months from the surgery, so it's not due to healing either. What also bothered me was that after this ridiculously intense surgery, no one called me to see how he was doing at all. I had to bring him back for a check up and didn't even see the Doctor Senf who did the surgery, just a tech. About a month and a half later when he was completely healed and acting his old self, but still having the same breathing as before, I called AMC and spoke to the tech to let her know I was disappointed he was not improved at all. She said it would probably take a few more weeks till I noticed a difference, but that she would hve Dr Senf call me to talk about it. He never called me. And my dog sounds the same 7 months later and his life has not improved at all. Not going back here - much happier at Charleston Harbor Vet! Read Less

I have been taking my dogs to AMC for since 2004 and have never considered any other veterinary service. Though my 3 dogs have seen Dr. Forcier for much of the time, other vets have "jumped in" when Dr. Forcier was not available. I have always felt that Dr. F conferred with the other vets if a situation was "unusual", or referred our dogs to Veterinary Special Care for very specific needs. Luckily, our dogs have been very healthy except for the last couple of years....to be expected of dogs now age 14 and 13. AMC always did the initial evaluations, blood tests and x-rays to rule out anything obvious. When Dr. F found what appeared to be jaw cancer and previously a tumor on the spleen, my dog was rushed to a specialist and provided the surgery and treatment needed. After 6 months of chemo, my 14 year old dog is doing very well due to early diagnosis. Recently, one of the other dogs had an infected toe with a loose nail, and after examination and xray, Dr F noted that the bone was obliterated and it was either a bad infection or cancer, and a surgeon should look at it. Dr. F said even if the toe had to be amputated, there was a good chance of recovery, and he was absolutely correct. My 13 year old dog is walking around just fine due to early diagnosis. As a side note, Dr F is the only vet that could make my very sedate old lab actually play like a young pup....Dr F has a special chemistry with my dogs and it is clear that he loves them and they love him back. The staff and techs are just as wonderful and I always feel like "family" when I come in. They are very accommodating with last minute appointments when I am especially concerned and make me and my dogs feel very welcome. I have NEVER had a bad experience in all these years with ANY vet at AMC, tech, or office staff. Last but not least, I have to put in a "plug" for Best Friends Boarding" which is owned by AMC. I cannot think of a better medical facility to take our Little Louie to than Animal Medical Center. The staff there cannot be more friendly and caring. They treat each of our pets as though he/she were their family pets. You're always greeted with a friendly smile as you enter and your pet is addressed immediately. In fact, when you phone for an appointment you can actually feel the warmth from the receptionist coming through the phone. We all love our pets and treat them as our children, but so does the staff there. My Little Louie is never skittish or nervous when we arrive. The doctors are so knowledgeable and treat our little friends in such a loving and caring manner. They know exactly what the problem is and if they're not certain, they don't hesitate to check further. I have been going to Animal Medical Center since we moved here eleven years ago and now our entire family brings their pets there too. I have been here more times that I would like (poor sick puppy) and every time I have had thoughtful and attentive service from both the doctors and techs. Dr. Forcier & Dr. Epstein are both very friendly and treated my dog as the best dog ever (which, let's be honest, she is...) but Dr. Briley, especially, has been through several long and confusing illnesses with me. Poppins, I'm glad to report, is now happy and healthy and I attribute that to Dr. Briley's care. She also takes the time to help with training questions and if she sees me in the office, she always asks how Poppins is doing. The prices of their meds are also very competitive. I think it's every week (I think they said week) they check the price of 1800Petmeds to make sure they are lower. A cool move, for sure! Read Less

Dr. Briley is excellent. However, their techs and customer service need work. Dr. Briley prescribed a medication for our dog and it made our dog throw up. I called about this and was told by a tech to stop giving her the med. Apparently they never wrote this in my dog's file. Then, when she needed another similar med later in the year, they gave her a different version of the same med and it made her really sick again. I called and Dr. Briley told me not to give it to her anymore and that she was never informed about the first med making her sick. Now my dog was just given a different med that should not make her sick but when I got home with the medication, I noticed there were twice the number of pills in the bottle than there should be. I called about this and was told the tech made a mistake when writing out the directions on the pill bottle and that I have the correct number of pills, just the wrong directions. When I wanted the woman at the front desk to check with Dr. Briley, she bristled at me and told me I have the correct information I need. No apology for the error, no politeness, no nothing. She just hung up, didn't even say goodbye. I was polite but I guess I should not have been! I'm so disappointed by this because I'm sure Dr. Briley would not want her customers treated this way.
