I have been using Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital since the early 80's. That has included three rescue dogs, one rescue cat, one part Chocolate Lab, one part Australian Shepherd, and two Weimaraners. The veterinarians and staff saw just about everything from this collection and were simply outstanding; not only in making me and my pets feel comfortable but also with results. I took my 20,000 dollar dog here for a return surgery an they called me an hour later an the dog was dead so make your own decision about this facility. I feel that doctor Orr is a great man an great vet. As for the other gentleman that works here I would not let him put my dog under. I had reservations before I took the dog because it was not doctor Orr doing the surgery.i should have not followed through with it because of the feelings I got the times I meet with anyone but Doctor Orr. So if you can not see Doctor Orr do not visit this facility. Read Less

I have been going to the Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital for over 19 years now, ever since I got my first cat, Pebbles, in 1996. Dr Kevin and Dr Laura Shuler are wonderful, as are the entire staff - they are very kind, understanding, compassionate, competent and sympathetic. They are very accommodating in the event of an emergency, and always ready to offer help and advice. When I had to say goodbye to Pebbles in May 2013, they were extremely supportive and comforting, and went above and beyond their professional duty - they cried with me, followed up on my situation, and even sent a card of sympathy. When I got another cat, Apple, in June 2013, they were equally welcoming and helpful. They always follow up on any issue my pet has had, and are a truly caring team. This is a family business that has been in operation for many, many years, and therefore you get the personal, human touch. I feel very comfortable and confident with them, both on a personal and professional level. They are like family (even though I don't relish having to go there, and neither does my pet!), and I wouldn't go anywhere else! Read Less

My husband and I love our vet! The staff from the techs to the doctors are knowledgeable and show a true love of all animals. We have three cats and a puppy so we are frequent fliers at the vet. The service has been nothing but friendly and accommodating at each and every appointment. The only downfall would be that it does become pricey with 4 pets. I recently moved to the Charleston area with a brand new Australian Shepherd puppy. Never having raised a pup on my own before, I wanted to find a vet that would be willing to take the time to thoroughly explain all of my dog's health needs. Mt. I rescued my Princess Mittens last November, and chose Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital primarily because it was so close to my house. It was one of the best decisions I ever made, and now, even if it wasn't close to my house, Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital would still be my 1st choice because of the vets and the staff - they are excellent, knowledgeable, professional and personal. Mittens went through an unforeseen and frightening (probably more for me than for her) couple of weeks around Christmas, with the vet not only treating her limp with pain medicine, but going the extra mile to determine what the root was, and we found it was arthritis in her back legs. I am so appreciative of their concern and especially how they handled Princess Mittens and this situation - it is so obvious to me that they really care for my kitten and want her to be happy and in the best of health.Read Less

I have moved around a lot, and after 11 years of taking care of my dog Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital has been one of the best vets I have ever used. My dog is not always the most personable with strangers, and the vet techs and doctors here never seem to have any trouble examining her. It's always easy to get an appointment when you need one, and they have seen my dog with little notice just before they close for an issue that couldn't wait until the next day. Our 3-year-old malti-poo, Lucky, loves Mount Pleasant Animal Hospital as much as my husband and I do. Our busy schedules require a practice that does not overbook itself and force patients to wait. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and always does such a great job of making each visit very comfortable and personal. The staff always is upfront about possible charges and very willing to discuss options. We also love that the doctors are easy to reach if we do have a question or concern about our dog. I am very frustrated with Mt Pleasant Animal Hospital tactics of not informing you of their costs and charges. I was not told upfront that the antibotics for my dog were going to be $180. Things of that price should be consulted with the customer. After my bad experience I have heard they are the highest price vet in town., and if you are on a budget this is not the vet for you! First - The only reason I only gave Mt P Animal Hospital 4 and not 5 stars is because they do not have Saturday hours. Thus, if you work late or something happens after you get home Friday - the only alternative is that horrible emergency vet or another vet, which unfortunatley I've had to do. Aside from that - this place is absolutely wonderful. Staff is always very polite, friendly and knowledgable. Drs. Laura and Kevin are as well. And having a house full of dogs and stray cats - something always seems to be going on - so I'm forever in there. Read Less
