The staff is amazing. They treated Pepper with great care and love. Dr. Wall, the oncologist was patient, knowledgeable and thorough. Dr. Nesser, the surgeon who removed Pepper's cancerous tail, did an amazing job. She too was attentive to my families anxious needs. The veterinary tech, who's name I regret to say I forgot with all of the stress, was kind, compassionate and put us at ease during a difficult time. The office is immaculate, and the only vet pepper has ever been where she showed no signs of anxiety. Thank you so much for treating my baby so well! Read Less

My dog Oliver, ingested a squeaker from a toy and had to have emergency surgery. I am very impressed by the quick response of the team here. In addition, every morning the surgeon that completed his surgery (Dr Averill) would call me and give me an update so that I wouldn't have to worry about Oliver's care. The ICU night nurse, Penny, was also amazing at soothing my fears and I knew he was in good hands. Read Less

Emergency veterinary care is usually an uncomfortable, prolonged, traumatic experience.  The staff at veterinary specialty care proved that wrong.  After routine vaccines, my cat became seriously ill, so at 2 am on Friday evening we had no other option but to take him for care.  There was no wait.  Service was prompt.  The facility was immaculate and comfortable.  The staff was caring for both the family and my pet.  The charges were far less than I would have expected for the impeccable care that was provided.  I'm so glad they are close to home so that if I ever have an emergency again, I won't hesitate to go there.  Well done.  Thank you so much. I took my dog Bacon in for care. Bacon has had chronic pain her entire life and we've seen drs in Atlanta, Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose. Never before have I been treated so poorly. I had told the Dr of Bacon's medical history in which she replied, "Impossible!" and then treated me like I was the one who diagnosed my dog. She saw Bacon was so uncomfortable that she was unable to sit. The Dr did nothing. She offered no advice or help. She was absolutely unempathetic. She didn't ask if I needed refills on medicine. I also asked about rehab centers. She said they existed, but offered no advice or referrals. After receiving absolutely no help, I was hit with a $90 bill. I was planning to have Bacon's MRI done at this establishment, but now I'm going elsewhere. 1) I am afraid she won't get the compassionate care she needs. 2) I don't want to give this establishment the large amount of money for an MRITake your dogs somewhere they'll get better care. I honestly don't like being the Duke of this place. Don't get me wrong, I love this Hospital, but for all the wrong reasons. I've had to bring my 13 year old Dachshund Charlee here twice now for emergency room purposes. And then again for follow up visits and to pick up medications. I feel I'm overly qualified to write a fair and unbiased review on this place by now. You see, Charlee has Heart Disease and that leads to heart Failure. When that happens, that leads to me having to rush him to the ER for IV medications and so he can spend time in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to push fluids off his lungs. The doctors and care staff here are absolutely amazing! I can't speak highly enough about every single person I've interacted with. We've experienced regular business hour doctors as well as after hours ER doctors. Everyone I've spoken with has been professional, caring and incredibly well trained on Veterinarian medicine. The hospital is separated into 2 departments. The first being the ER, left side of the front desk. This is where you would come when you have an emergency. I've worked with Dr. Sauser and Dr. Marcario and they are amazing. A special shout out to Dr. Sauser for not only being great at diagnosing Charlee's problem, but for also being kind and caring and recognizing compassion and human decency. The right side of the front desk is Internal Medicine. This is where you get transferred to for specialty care after the emergency. This is where we met Dr. Jacobson, Charlee's now Cardiologist. Dr. Jacobson knows his stuff. He's very precise and intent when putting together an treatment plan to help my little buddy live a long and productive life. Easy to talk to and always accessible. I feel like I can contact him morning, noon or night if need be. Two downsides to this place. The first is how expensive it is. No expense is spared in the care for your pet when you come here. Trust me, 2 ER visits and $5000.00 dollars later are proof enough. The second is that they don't do regular Veterinarian visits here. Meaning, you can't make these guys your regular Vet. You have to be referred or have an Emergency need. While you can see why I don't like being the Duke here, but in the end, I'm grateful for Veterinarian Specialty Care and the work they are doing here. Read Less

First off i want to thank Dr. Scott Averill for taking such wonderful care of my pup BB! He was kind, patient, compassionate and took the time out every morning to call and give detailed updates on how my boy was doing after having back surgery. I would give Dr.Averill 10 stars if I could! Everyone in the neurology department was amazing from the techs to the front desk. Thank you all so much for for all your hard work and what you do!  My issue is with the emergency department and the vet that first took care of my boy. If you do have to bring your fur baby in for an emergency  I highly recommend not seeing Dr. Williams. There was no compassion, no kidness no empathy towards me or my boy. I had to rushed my boy in around 1:30 a.m. when he starting losing the ability to walk and was whimpering in pain. He had slipped disks in his back and I was told right away he had IVDD. He would need a $5,000 surgery. I chose to leave him there under their care until 8 a.m. when neurology would open and i could come up with money for surgery. BB is a family member not just a dog. I would do ANYTHING for him. After speaking with  2 vets from my hometown in NJ( I've been working with animals for 20 years and have done alot of volunteering and rescue work so I know alot of ppl and vets back home) the first thing they all asked me was if BB received steroids. I was a reck and trusted the vet so I wasnt sure until I returned at 8 a.m. When they brought B in to visit and the vet came back in the room we asked if he received any steroids. Her reply was uhmm I think so let me check he should have? ( very unprofessional!!) Steroids would of helped relieve the pressure on his spinal cord that his slipped disks were pressing against. Im now sitting on the floor holding my boy in a blanket while he's out of it from pain meds and 2 techs come in and give him a shot. Never once telling me what they are giving him. We ask and then found out that he then was receiving the steroids he should have had hours ago. Now 7 hours after arrival they give him the steroids he should of had when he first arrived only after us questioning her. Somethings so simple as steroids could have helped him hours ago with his spine. His back end was was coverd in feces to where he was forming sores already. I had to ask the front desk for wipes and a towel to clean him up because he obviously had been sitting in his own poop for sometime now that it was dried all over his back end.. Those few hours that he was there cost $275 for them to do nothing. No iv fluids. No steroids just pain meds. I will be following up with Dr.  Averill for his post op app but NEVER again will i go to the Er department in Mt. Pleasant.  After reading some reviews I see im not the only one who has had issues.  If you do on the other hand need a awesome neurologist I would recommend Dr. Averill. Wish more vets were like him! I cant thank him enough for taking such good care of B and us!!!!! ** I'm giving only 1 star to the Er department but 5 stars to the neurology team! Read Less

This was our second visit to this place on a weekend when our vet was not available but our vet did have this place's number for an option. They are very responsive and so nice.  We got there pretty quick and they immediately had someone look at our dog to see if he needed to go back right away. They decided it was not a huge emergency after some initial tests and we waited in the waiting room which is pretty comfortable.  After a very short wait they had us come back and the doctor and lab tech worked with our dog.  We are not sure yet exactly what the issue with the dog is.  Pain or seizure or what but they placed us on a regimen of pain for a few days and suggested we go to our vet in a few days to have them check on progress.  We were in and out in a short period of time and felt much more at ease. Terrible experience. The staff was so unwelcoming from the beginning and barely did an assessment on my dog. Then when it was time to check out, instead of printing off a summary of what we would be paying for the lady stated its going to be 300$. All they did was stick a thermometer in my dogs butt. I stayed for what? She then goes hold on let me ask the vet.. it was for a CBC and the antibiotic. They never even drew blood so that was a false payment! The lady apologized and said oh then it will be 220$. Still no visual receipt of payment... we decided to pay the 85$ and get the prescription elsewhere which was only 40$ at the drug store. Will never take my dog back as they were very unprofessional and all they care about is getting their money. Read Less

This office was a lifesaver after my 10 week old puppy ate Sego Palm. My mom and I were extremely relieved to find an office so close that was opened late at night when no where else was. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and nice, however the doctor, not so much. She was extremely condescending and seemed to be insinuating that I was not a financially suitable owner (I'm a college student) for my puppy, trying to get me to invest in pet insurence and a pet credit card because "I wouldn't be able to afford her care otherwise," as if she knew my financial status. Hope this gets better. The receptionist was less than thrilled to come open the door while i was bringing my cat in for an emergency. If she could have walked any slower or acted more annoyed, she would have been lying on the floor. After i asked if i was in the right place ( should i go somewhere else? I thought this was an emergency clinic??) given the below casual attitude. After 10 or so minutes I had gone back out into lobby twice to see what was going on.. she then tells me" I couldnt tell you that 2 animals are dying in the back".. first of all, yes you could have said something when I first came in so I was aware there may be some waiting. Secondly, could have just said we have 2 very critical emergencies going on...They need to either train this girl intensely in customer service asap or she probably needs to find a different career path. I was about to leave and drive to another hospital. Everyone else was lovely and caring. Doc and another receptionist came in and explained everything, appropriately and timely. It goes to show who you have answering your calls and greeting your guests/patients has to be how you want your business to be portrayed.I started this review with one star and it was the behavior and actions of the other people that increased those. I was waiting for 3 hours at 11pm when they knew I had to be gone for a flight at 4 in the morning was finally seen, the doctor was nice and said he thinks its not just a scratch recommended tests and blood work and follow up with a specialty doctor after seeing the specialty doctor only after being recommended to do so, the doctor said there was nothing wrong in the first place and it was exactly what I thought it was going to be just a my cat ran into or bruised the eye. They asked if I got blood work done or chemistry test and I said yes I paid for it however when they called over to 24-Hour vet they said no I did not have a CBC done yet i was charged for and they were unable to to fax over the CBC that I know I had done but they don't have record of. So the optometrist never saw the CBC I paid for specifically because the doctor said that opthamologist would want to see it in the first place if something was under lying happening. So all those tests were unnecessary and so was the optometrist visit in the first place so $530 later all that money is wasted and management took a week and a half to figure out everything and don't offer me any kind of solution to the unnecessary money I spent on Specialty Care and testing. Frustrated to say the least. Read Less

After reading some reviews, I brought by dog here with some apprehension. The decision was made when the after-hours recording of my regular vet indicated I should call Veterinary Specialty Care for an emergency.I won't tell you to discount the negative feedback left here, but I would ask you to consider if the negative review is a result of the quality of the care, or simply a veiled complaint about the cost of the care.I, for one, was extremely satisfied with both the staff and quality of care provided to my dog who presented with a urinary obstruction on a Sunday morning.Service was prompt and Dr. Williams provided excellent emergent care which she explained clearly. She called twice after I left-- unsolicited-- just to let me know that my dog was doing fine.On Monday my dog received surgery at VSC after my regular vet recommended they do the procedure. The surgeon, Dr. Averill, called me after his examination to explain what he observed and how we should proceed. He was a pleasure to speak with. Once the surgery was compete, he called me again. Lastly, he called me the next morning at 7:30am to update me on my dog's condition. In my opinion, VSC provided unparalleled care. From the receptionist to the surgeon, they operated like a well-oiled machine. As for cost-- yes, it is going to be more expensive than your regular veterinarian. Just like going to the emergency room is more expensive than going to your regular doctor. Certainly the cost of operating 24 hours a day with the appropriate veterinarians, techs and reception staff is going to be reflected on your bill. I do enjoy quality service with a lower pricepoint at my regular veterinarian, but they close at 5:30, are not open on Sunday and are not on call. The surgery center is impressive. They have a lot of diagnosis tools at their disposal that my vet doesn't have (such as an ultrasound). I felt the cost of surgery was commensurate with the services provided. While I love my regular vet, I would have no hesitation bringing my dog back. Read Less

I cannot say enough good things about Veterinary Specialty Care. We have taken my two dogs here 3 times in the past two years & they are always extremely caring, quick and helpful. The doctors and staff are amazing - they even follow up after you leave to make sure your animal is okay. Our first visit was in the middle of the night, our puppy (who would put everything in his mouth) woke us up with tremors in the middle of the night. We called the emergency line first, spoke to someone who advised us to come in. We did not know what was wrong until we retraced our steps from our evening walk; my puppy had gotten a hold of a sago palm branch, which is highly toxic. Our dog was treated for this, and monitored for three days at the clinic. They saved his life and he is a happy healthy pup because of this. Yes this was expensive to treat, as it requires numerous tests etc. Luckily we have Nationwide pet insurance which covered 90% of the cost. Our second trip was about a year later, our youngest dog ingested a small clove of garlic - she is only about 4 lbs. We brought her in, she was seen right away & her blood was checked for any issues. Luckily she was fine thanks to their care. Our most reason visit was at about 5:00 am last Tuesday - our dog had what appeared to be conjunctivitis in his eye (pink eye). My husband and I both had busy schedules with work that day and knew we would not be able to take our dog to our Normal veterinarian until after 4pm. Instead of having our pup suffer we brought him in and were seen immediately. The staff confirmed he had conjunctivitis and confirmed he had no other issues with his eye. He was given an eye ointment for relief right away. This took a total of 45 minutes and the cost was very low and well worth it. We would not hesitate to go here for an emergency or afterhours treatment of our dogs!! Read Less

ER Vets and Surgeons on site. They also have a internal medicine practice that is open during business hours. I have been impressed with all the doctors we have seen here. There are many Vets on staff here and the internal medicine doctors are specialists. Get on VSC website and read the extensive training they have done. Very impressive.Thorough, quick to diagnose health issues. Everyone from the front desk to the vet techs are kind, compassionate and very helpful with explaining procedures, care, costs, etc. The place itself is beautiful. The waiting room is enormous, with lots of comfortable chairs. They have snacks, coffee bar, refrigerator stocked with sodas, water, juice. The place is also extremely clean. Very pleased with the service I received here. My moms dog who I have been pet sitting was having some digestive issues that were very concerning, so 9 at night I take her to the emergency clinic. The staff up front was friendly and welcoming. Even though no one was in wait with me in the waiting room, it took a while for us to be sent back to a room to be seen by a doctor. I figured with it being pretty late a wait would be inevitable though and it wasnt a dire emergency. We were eventually seen by Dr. Marcario who was super friendly and patient with Daisy. (Daisy can be a bit of a stubborn B sometimes.) Turns out she was having a bout of stress colitis. In the end I provided with very specific instructions on how/when/what to feed her, along with all of my prescriptions. The facility is very clean, very comfortable and the staff is very personable and professional. Although I should have asked at some point, it has been standard with every vet I have been to, my current one included for my dog, to be given the amount of $ that will be owed at the end of the visit, up front. Even with my regular vet, I am still told how much services will be and to confirm that that is ok etc...I would imagine for an emergency clinic that it would be even more than standard to give clients whats owed at some point during the visit considering the charges could be anywhere on the scale, but I guess not. Either way I certainly dont regret the choice. When I called to ask questions about Daisy's healing they provided me with answers accordingly and were optimistic and friendly about Daisy. In the unfortunate event you need to take your sidekick somewhere if an emergency arises, Veterinary Specialty Care will take care of you. Read Less

I have probably been to every veterinarian in the greater Los Angeles area, having run a rescue that saved over 600 dogs and having had anywhere from 1 to 12 dogs in my home at once. Now let me back up... My best friend got a job in Charleston and found a wonderful house in a place called Mt. Pleasant. "Come with us!" she said. I work from home and was up for an adventure so I excitedly said yes... Off we went in 2 cars with 4 dogs and 2 birds across the country. What could go wrong?! Well the trip went surprisingly well and we landed in Mt. Pleasant. We hadn't been here 24 hours before the action began. If you have ever read one thing about Jack Russell terriers, you would wonder what human being would ever want such a dog. In my rescue we made a rule that we only adopted JRT's to people who'd had them before, because they are impossible. And yet here I sit, with my 3 legged JRT on my lap, and I love him like crazy of course. Anyway, on our first full day here off he went to explore the yard, because he's a hunter. He came galloping in with something big and hard which I finally pried from his jaws of steel. The yard had 2 giant sego palms so we feared the worst. We quickly called Veterinary Specialty Care who said, "We see this all the time, get him in here immediately because it can be fatal."Thank God we were only a few minutes away and raced him in where they took him from us immediately to begin evaluating him. They took blood and laid out the possibilities and advised us to leave him overnight, which we did. As we left, I called over my shoulder "be gentle with him, he'll be scared but he's totally sweet..." I spent the evening weeping while I watched a slideshow of his pictures on my computer (ok, so I can get a little dramatic)... until they called to say, "he's doing fine so far but wow what a feisty little guy, he tried to bite several people so he has a caution warning on his cage now." I was MOR - TI - FIED. Well the sego palm seed did not kill him, thank God, and the next night he was happy and healthy in his new home with a hefty bill to his name. It was worth every penny (and as an aside, this is why I advocate people getting pet insurance and I totally recommend Trupanion). The doctors and techs were so nice, but didn't stop to chit chat. They were business-like in dealing with a potentially life-threatening emergency, they handled his wildly dramatic screams and tantrums calmly, and seemed genuinely happy to see him go off without any lasting damage. Everyone I encountered seemed to genuinely care about all animals. The facility is beautiful, from what I could see. And the staff and care were totally impressive. Knowing this pup, I imagine we will make more trips in the future and I'll know that my dog is in great hands. Read Less

Read Less

If I could select additional stars, I would! I cannot sing the praises of Veterinary Specialty Care loudly enough. This was the best medical experience I have ever had and that includes anything I have ever had done for myself or my dog, Roma. Roma is the love of my life and it was a very difficult decision to have several lipomas removed and also a cyst between her toes. She is 11 years old and I felt that removing the large lipoma in her armpit would increase her mobility in years to come, but was very afraid of having her go through the surgery at her age. Dr. Ludwig not only consulted with me, but answered follow-up questions and concerns by email prior to the surgery. We were met with love and genuine care and concern the day of Roma's surgery. Dr. Ludwig called me 3x that day to give me updates and allowed me to take Roma home that evening. Dr. Ludwig's skill at removing the large lipoma was amazing. I was in the medical device field for 14 years and have never seen a more precise excision. It is rare that you find a group that has equal skill and caring and I feel very blessed to have found those qualities in this clinic. Read Less

Being new to Charleston I have yet to establish my cats with a vet down here...so I panicked when my 2 year old cat fell ill and rushed her over here. I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. The waiting room is large, so you don't feel as if your pet is about to sit on another animal. All of the staff from the front desk to the veterinarian, Dr. Cook were very kind, informative and welcoming. I was made aware of the cost of everything prior to admission and was given a print out of prices of potential interventions that may occur during the stay with my permission. I felt as if the doctor genuinely cared about my cat and didn't try to push any unnecessary procedures or tests to jack up the bill. For being an emergency facility their prices are very reasonable. The couple times I called to check on her/for updates I was not left on hold and was transferred directly to the dr. As a previous vet tech and current nurse I would definitely recommend them and will utilize their services again if needed. Many thanks from me and my now healthy fur child. Read Less

We brought our 5 month old lab in because he was screaming in pain. When we arrived, we were the only patients in the waiting room. The wait to get back was lengthy, considering he was screaming. Once in the back, a technician came in to help us. She mentioned how what was happening to our dog looked very similar to what happened to her dog. We believed he was having excruciating growing pains, also referred to as Panosteitis. That is exactly what she said her dog had. Eventually the vet came in and immediately started saying that she believed our dog had an autoimmune disorder or a nerve disorder and that they would need to keep him overnight then ship him off to an internalist the next morning where they would probably do muscle biopsies along with many other tests. After telling us that, she quickly said we should open up the credit card that they have there so we can pay for it. After scaring us to the point where we though our dog had some insane disorder, she acted on our emotions and told us we should open a credit card. We decided to take him home and manage his pain there, along with giving him an antibiotic and anti inflammatory. 2 days later, he was 100%. He has been ever since. When you look up the definition of Panosteitis, it perfectly describes what happened to our puppy. EXACTLY. I just want to thank the technician that helped us that night. She was the only person that didn't take advantage of us at a vulnerable time. Read Less

The doctors are nice enough when you are with them, but try to get a doctor to talk to any other time - good luck! My cat had major surgery over a week ago. I received test results from the surgeon 3 days ago and I have not had a call from or been able to talk to a doctor since then. When they are there they are either busy (understandable), can't talk and/or will call back (which they haven't done) or they don't work the day you call. As most readers will know, this place is for seriously compromised animals and this practice seems take advantage because they know if we're there we'd do anything for our pets. Their fees are outrageous and communication sorely inadequate. They ought to be ashamed. And as a follow up, I just realized that my bill was substantially higher for the prescription food I bought than it was the time before. So I called and guess what they don't tell you - the food I needed was .50 more per can because I bought it after hours. They are pirates! Read Less

I can't thank Dr. Cook and Klein enough. My cat was extremely ill. I was told by my vet that he would need an ex lap to find a possible obstruction after obtaining a Xray. I declined the surgery and took him to this clinic. Not only was I seen within 10 min, but their entire staff is more than sweet. The girl at the front desk got my poor sick baby water and a litter box for the wait, the ultrasound tech was so patient and careful while holding him and Melissa (vet tech I think) was so sweet and  gave him hugs and kisses and explained the d/c instructions very well. The doctors are so knowledgable and gave me multiple options for his plan of care. It is expensive but all healthcare related diagnostic are. If anything were to happen again I am more than confident that Moose (cat) will be cured in a timely manner. Thank you guys so much :) they even called to check in on him. I am not happy to be writing this review. I have used VSC before, and been pleased with them. However, a string of recent experiences with my beloved pet have stayed with me, filling me with anger at a time I need to stay positive and focused on helping my little guy get better. I feel I need to get this out of myself so I can move on. My complaint is due to the treatment I personally experienced, not the treatment of my dog.We were referred by our regular vet to VSC when our dog had a fever of unknown origin, and the initial attempt with novox didn't improve. After our dog was taken by the technician to the back, something they do whether you like it or not, the internist came in and basically said "I recommend we do this, this, this, this and this." She was just matter-of-fact, direct and ready to act. She said she would have a tech come in with an estimate. Meantime, we could discuss. Well, the tech did come back a few minutes later with that estimate. As he was putting it in our hands he said "So, what do you want to do?" Ummm... read the estimate, for starters.Flat out honesty: We were getting the feeling these people were thinking about the money over the animal. They definitely weren't thinking about how we were feeling - helpless as our family member was hurting, confused by why all these tests were needed, not being given the explanation or answers in a gentle, bedside manner. With trepidation, we went the conservative route. Did three of the five tests, and waited. Well, they weren't the right three tests, of course. We went back a week later, with no improvement. This visit was the last straw. First, when the tech tried to take my dog into the back, I denied her. I said I did not want my dog leaving my sight. Oh, but she had to weigh him, and there was no scale in the room. (How convenient.) Against my better judgment, I said she could take him to be weighed only, but I wanted the doctor to do her physical in here. Five long minutes later a different tech altogether came back with my dog and said the doctor saw him while he was being weighed. Wow...I was absolutely floored. They outright ignored my wishes and right as the client. When the internist came in, I was greeted with the same deadpan treatment. Oh, well no wait... this time the internist spoke to me as if SHE wanted to help my dog, but I didn't. Now, she didn't out right say that, but her tone created an unspoken accusation as if I was not as concerned as she was. That was it. I was done. I was able to get referral to Charleston Veterinary Referral Center in West Ashley, who treated our dog and us wonderfully. I will never go back to VSC. Even if I am in Mt Pleasant and have an emergency. I will travel all the way over to West Ashley for my pet before going here.In hindsight, and this is specifically why I am writing this review:Had we been treated gently, patiently and kindly by the internist and her techs with clearer explanation of why they wanted to do all the tests they wanted to do, we probably would have done them. The treatment we received led us to believe they just wanted to get as much money as they could right at the start. The salt to the wound was the lack of respect for my wishes and the accusatory tone that I didn't really want to help, essentially, my child.I take the blame. Fully. I shouldn't have let my emotions lead my decision making. Kind of hard to not, tho, don't you think? It is important for VSC to understand that the treatment of the human is extremely important to best lead to the proper treatment of the animal. We need to trust in you. We are distraught, nervous, scared and sad over what is happening to our family member. You are the specialist who understands and can help resolve the issue. We need to feel safe giving our pets to you. I did not. Read Less

Dr. Ashley Williams, was our physician. She was rude to my wife and I and, in our professional opinions, seemed to lack clinical insight. My wife and I are both MDs and share both diagnostic and clinical experience. We shared this with Dr. Williams to facilitate exchange of information. During our interaction, Dr. Williams rolled her eyes at us and scoffed numerous times. At one point, I asked her if our dog being sick was funny to her because she was clearly laughing and smiling when we were describing our concerns about our dog "dying". She replied that "it is not funny" We understand that it's not always fun to have others in a similar profession sharing their opinions about patient management. However, it is the job of the physician to reassure and help clarify misconceptions. I won't go into clinical details here as one of the previous reviewers notes threats of litigation from the owner for sharing such information via review. Pets know better than to have emergencies during normal business hours. That's why we feel very fortunate to have Veterinary Specialty Clinic in our neighborhood. The clinic is clean, but not sterile, offering a comfortable and spacious waiting area, with a helpful and compassionate staff. (Of course, I mean the _atmosphere_ is not sterile. I'm sure the areas where actual medical stuff happens are all properly sterilized.)Arriving a bit after 8pm on a Friday night, we were immediately set at ease by the desk attendant. Within 15 minutes we were being seen by Dr. Klein. She carefully examined our fuzzy friend, then explained the situation and discussed our options in clear terms.Just as these types of situations never happen when you expect, they always cost more than you'd wish. But, considering the quality of service, the friendly attitudes, and the speed with which we were attended to, the price was well within reason. As if that wasn't enough, two days later, Dr. Klein personally called to make sure our cat was recuperating as expected.I hope you don't ever need their services, but if you do, I fully endorse Veterinary Specialty Clinic in Mount Pleasant.

Read Less

Read Less

We may have waited about 5 minutes and then a very nice vet tech took us in to a patient' s room; got our history and then Dr. Johnson came in and explained what they planned to do for Dixie. While she was having her tests run, we grabbed a bite to eat near by. On return, Dr. Johnson explained EVERYTHING re: Dixie's possible condition....in detail.
