I unfortunately don't have the best review for this place. Long Read.I had been searching for another vet practice for my little angel to get her puppy vaccines. She also had been having skin issues. I wasn't sure what the problem was. The first vet a man that I saw said it was probably mites, although being a previous vet tech when he began talking about it being the contagious kind for those who don't know the difference. I knew it wasn't due to none of my other dogs nor my husband or I were exhibiting any symptoms which would have been the tell tell sign that's what it was. I knew it could possibly be the non contagious kind. He wasn't really interested in doing a skin scrape to make sure and sent me home with a sulfur wash to use on her. I used as prescribed and still no difference. Actually it got a little worse. In between this time and the next visit for her skin I had her get one of her puppy booster visits. This visit took no time at all. The tech came and got her to bring her in the back. She asked if I needed to speak to the dr about anything and I said no. The second time I came in for her skin issues I got a very young female dr. She seemed very puzzled by what my baby girls skin issues could be and reluctantly did a skin scrape after I asked. Of course it came back as negative for any type of mites. She was going to prescribe me another dose of sulfur baths and this microbial shampoo I actually already had at home. I told her I already had the shampoo at home which she was fine with. I told her the sulfur baths didn't help at all and obviously she didn't have mites. She was very confused and even asked the tech about a client who had brought in a dog where they couldn't figure out the skin issues until the finally figured something out. She was asking the tech to pull the file so she could see what they did with the other dog. (By the way they never pulled the file to double check like they said they would). So I took her home and used the microbial shampoo on her. It worked wonders! Her skin cleared up almost completely overnight! So where was this "it's contagious mange" conclusion come from with the first vet who saw her?The third set of puppy vaccines (4th visit to this vet total at this point), I had to wait almost 35 min. They finally called us back. Brought us to a room this time though. The tech seemed to not know why we were there even though she had the chart right in front of her. My opinion she should have already known what the visit was all about before setting foot in the exam room. I had to explain to her my baby girl also got a shot of Benadryl and metacam (pain meds) when she got her vaccinations the last visit. She says "oh yeah ok I see that right here now" I mean really?!?! She came back in with my little girl and they had clipped her nails when they didn't need to be done due to just having been in there for her skin issues the previous week. When I mentioned she had them clipped the previous week and shouldn't have had them done she replied in a rude tone, "well it's a courtesy". I also double checked with the receptionist about her weight when we were checking out and it was like I was bothering her cause when she got up to double check for me she rolled her eyes and sighed very obviously. So skip on to my third appointment for her final DHPP vaccines and again it took almost 15 min to get me back in a room again! The tech seemed to be all over the place again asking me why we were there and for what and it was like I was a bother to her just being there. Like she had better things to do. Totally 16 year old childish attitude!I have given them multiple visits to show me they really are better than I am experiencing but there seems to be fairly big issues in my eyes every time I go there. I will NOT be having my baby girl spayed there now either after this experience. I am going to be driving 2.5 hours back to my home town to have her spayed somewhere I know they are on top of their game!The only good thing I can say about them is that they only charge you the amount of the vaccine for each puppy visit when you come back rather than paying for an office visit each time which can definitely add up quickly. If you can go to another vet. So far I have been to two in the Augusta/North Augusta area and neither have lived up to my standards. Read Less

We have been using HHAH for as long as they have existed (20+ yrs); from its inception with Dr. Moreland thru the current staff led by Dr. Norman. These are caring, professional, intelligent, sensitive and empathetic people. When we started there we had a total of 13 dogs from three combined households. All of them have since passed and were all treated to the best of care by HHAH. Over the years, through rescuing needy feather and fur babies (dogs, cats, bird, opossum), we have brought all of the them here. We currently have 3 dogs and a cat left and a cemetery full of beloved friends.They were each treated with kindness and the very best medical expertise. Most of our animals have lived well past the life expectancy for their breed and species and this is due in great part to the HHAH staff.The greatest strength of their service is their inclination to explain in detail and plain language exactly what they are doing any why; the possibilities and options.We have reached the age where it has become difficult to take care of the humans in the household so it looks like the current household will be the last of the line. But we will see it thru with the help of HHAH...would not consider anywhere else.And we drive from Windsor, SC (15 East of Aiken) to HHAH because we appreciate and value their service. Read Less

We brought our childhood dog here for years and never had an issue, nice staff, you can be seen quickly, and its conveniently located. However, we hadn't been there in two years and returned recently with our new kitten. Everything went well at first, staff was nice, and we got the kitten vaccinated with only minor normal side affects. After he received his booster shot they gave us a sample of Bayer Advantage Multi for fleas and after application he had a reaction to it and started shaking and running a high fever. We took him to Hammond Hills and they began to treat him (un-benounced to us) for an anaphylactic reaction instead of a permethrin reaction. They spent several hours treating him with Steroids and antibiotics for some reason, they said they were flushing the toxins out of his system but were actually only giving him subcutaneous fluids. They didn't even have the ability to administer an IV and never told us that until the end. Essentially they held him for hours doing nothing, all the while he could have been being treated by someone who could correctly diagnose the symptoms. Finally after 5 hours of waiting we came in to get him (without receiving a call to inform of us his worsening condition) and were informed upon arrival that we would have to be referred to an animal emergency hospital. I would have appreciated it if they had of told us off the bat they didn't have the equipment to handle the situation. They tried to do their best but at the same time they weren't even treating him for the correct reaction, so that worries me that it was such a blatant and potentially fatal misdiagnoses. I would like to end by saying the staff is extremely nice and I really like the vet there, and they really do try to do their best but its hard to understand why this mistake could happen if they had the animal's best interest in mind. I can't speak highly enough of the staff at Hammond Hills! From the front desk through the visit, everyone was so genuinely kind, friendly and helpful. I just love the staff here. They have been in operation for 17 years. About fifteen years ago they took care of my fur baby and now they are doing the same for my new kitty. Nothing has changed here- the friendliness of the receptionist and the level of care put me at ease. I appreciate the thoroughness and suggestions of the nurses and doctor to address the issue we were having. The doctor was not quick to put her on medications, but encouraged environmental enhancements which truly meant a lot to me. Implementing their sound advice is already have positive results. If you are looking for a local DVM, I highly recommend giving this hometown clinic a visit. Read Less

We were turned down by other clinics for our emergency, and Hammond Hills Animal Hospital happily took us in. Dr Norman and his staff took excellent care of our Samson Cat, treating him with the same love and compassion that they would give their own 4 legged family members. The staff is always professional but takes the time to explain what's going on with the animal so we lay people can understand. We recently moved to the North Augusta area and we are SO happy we found Hammond Hill Animal Hospital! My dog went in for a teeth cleaning and we were thrilled with the results. Shortly after he was sick and they quickly diagnosed and got him back to normal. I would say that Dr. Jason Norman and his staff are the best doctors out there! Excellent Service and flexibility. I love this place. My only gripe is the $50 visits each time. They were excellent when we had to put our family dog Boots down. Everything was explained well and we were taken care of emotionally before and afterwards. We will continue to do the majority of our business here. We get shots done elsewhere because the cost is nearly half.Read Less

Went ahead and paid my vet bill for my dying dog and when I called again to ask a question the lady was in a rush to leave and hung up on me. They also said they could not give the dog a blood transfusion because they were leaving soon. My dog may end up dying tonight. Thanks Alot. Read Less

We LOVE this practice. They take the time with each pet to really care about them. We were so impressed with the one on one time and attention that they gave our sweet pup. They are set a part from other practices in that when they do a spay/neuter procedure they actually put the dogs to sleep and make sure to give them pain medicine. They do a one-on-one approach too as opposed to lining up 5 dogs and doing them all at once. If you're like us, you want solid care for your special pup (or other animal). These guys are awesome.  I have 3 dogs and 3 cats.  Anytime we have gone for shots or emergencies everyone is very attentive and aware of each animals care.  My little dog ripped his claw and they waited thru lunch for me to bring him and took him back immediately and within moments had him taken care of and back in my arms.  Thank you so much for all your care!! Both of our cats and WE are very happy with the care and attention we receive at Hammond Hills. From the front desk to the last tech, everyone is caring, polite, and great with our pets. After our previous vet retired, we tried two other local vets and were not happy. We lost one pet after substandard care, but I won't name that vet here; rather, I want to focus on how thrilled we are with finding Dr. Moreland and Hammond Hills.
