Central is not my normal vet, but I just adopted a rescue dog who had surgery at this location. I took her back there so that they could do the final work. The folks at the office were super sweet and got me in right away. They also sold me Hearguard for my adopted dog since they did the heartworm check. I left there knowing that she was completely up-to-date on all of her medical needs. I've had a lot of dogs in my life that I've rescued, and I've never had a vet who took my dog to the back for an appointment like stitches removal. It wasn't a huge deal, but I wished they had asked me to join my dog during this appointment. All that said, I likely won't return to Central because I'm happy with my regular vet. If, however, you live near this location, I think you'll find the staff friendly. Read Less

You can tell that they aren't in it for the money and are in it for the animals and people. We have been happy clients here for 10 years. The staff is wonderful- caring, efficient, and experienced. In our years here, there has been very little turn over in the staff which is very reassuring. It's great to see the same vet year after year, but also the same techs. Dr. Bostian, Dr. Reynolds, and now Dr. Healy all make a great team. They have helped us through surgeries, chronic illnesses, parasites, and normal aging with out cats and dogs. I have been taking my dog Ajax to Central Veterinary Hospital since he was a puppy. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The Vets and Techs here really care about their patients. They are very reasonable with fees and very accommodating if you have an emergency and need a walk-in. The only downside is you can sometimes wait a while before being seen, but in my opinion it's worth it for the quality care and affordable fees. While not common, I have even had occasions where I've taken my dog in for a checkup because he was sick and they have charged me nothing for the visit. I cannot recommend this place enough. This is my favorite veterinary practice in the Summerville area. I started taking my dog to them when they first opened and have been there for her up until her last days. Chad Reynolds was her main vet but the others there are just as good. I'd say pricing is quite reasonable compared to other vet offices. I have been using this veterinarian practice since it's inception so clearly I am pleased with their services. However this review is to address exemplary service from their employee Erin. Recently I requested a medication refill for my geriatric (12 yo) lab mix. When it was a hardship for us to pick it up from Summerville Erin assured me it would be no problem to call the scripts in to our pharmacy. When faced with ridiculous unprofessional behavior on the pharmacy's side, Erin persevered to get through to a tech on the other end. She was finally successful & called me to report this @ 530 that day!! Scripts were requested in morning so she called NUMEROUS times! She went above & beyond to get our beloved lab what she needed. Adopted a dog recently from the local SPCA. They gave me a voucher for a free check-up within 10 days to use at one of the clinics on the list. Central Vet was one of the authorized providers plus it is close to my home. It was easy getting an appointment same day. The doctor was very sweet and so was the tech in the room to assist. The issue I had was the receptionist. She didn't bother to greet us at all upon walking in, she had the most sour face when she gave us the paperwork to fill out. Nobody weighed our dog, we did it ourselves. Upon check out, she hardly said 2 words to me and handed me my paper as if to say you can leave now. She made us feel like we were not welcomed to use their facility because we didn't pay anything out of pocket. I feel if you are striving to get new clients, at least make them feel welcomed when they walk in the door with a smile and ACKNOWLEDGE THEM. I don't think we will be using them again in the future. They are friendly people and I new from the start they would be amazing people when I walked in the greeting was so pleasant and felt comfortable with them and the doctor I loved how he enjoyed sitting on the floor with my babys and giving lots of love like his own. Couldn't be better!! It is a long, long story.. but we are so grateful that friends recommended Central Hospital!! Our wonderful, formerly feral, long haired tabby had two serious problems.. one probably congenital and the other, a result of a wound. Dr. Bostian had our little guy under anesthesia for two hours repairing the problems. That, I gather, is a long time for a cat. (It's a long time for a human!) Both procedures were out of the ordinary and obviously required a great deal of skill, patience, and "heart". These folks.. Dr. Reynolds, Dr. Bostian, and the entire staff are wonderful. Abolutely fantastic folks.. Can't say enough about the care our Middle-Aged fluffy tabby has botten this week. He had two rather challenging (putting it mildly!) surgical situations and Dr. Bostick managed to patch him up so he will once again be the most charming member of the household. Were referred to Central by local friends and neighbors and we can't thank them eoough. Coming from small SC towns, we always find total comfort in finding one person or business in whom we know we can place complete trust.. whether it is medicine or car repair. Thank goodness we haven't had any emergencies or anything other than routine appointments and medications, but each and every encounter has proven this clinic to be above standard. All of the people working here have been great, and go above and beyond to make customers feel like a part of the family. Animals are well loved on while there and supplied with treats. Both doctors have always included us in each appointment and they interacted with my kids, entertaining and answering all questions little inquisitive minds might have. They've never seemed pushy or overbearing! They don't force unnecessary tests or procedures, and they always take into account logic WITH theory. It's never just "well the books say", it's always "well, here's what the books say, but here's what we did with our dogs". They ask my opinions and they take them into consideration.  They're incredibly sweet to our puppy, too. Not only do we come in at least once a month for his regular medicine weigh-ins, but they'll also squeeze is in while we're there and clip his nails (for a small extra fee). The front desk staff is great, and I've never had a bit of trouble getting an appointment when I needed one. A friend of ours recommended this vet, and I'm super glad that we listened! We have brought our pets to Central Veterinary Hospital since they opened their doors. Dr. Chad and Dr. B are very capable, loving and caring Vets that go above and beyond. And for the staff well words alone can not describe them and the things they do for the families of Central Vets. When one of our babies are at the vets for an extended visit we get call around the clock. Not just from the staff but from Dr. B and Dr. Chad. Recently one of our kitties got very sick out of town. Dr. B called the Vet in another state discussed the case and was on top of what was going on. The kitty was brought home the next day, Saturday after 3:00 pm. Dr. B called us with updates from the out of state Vet and told us a member of Central Vet staff would contact us if we did not show up on Saturday before they closed. The staff kept close contact with us through the weekend and offered to meet us at the Hospital if things got really bad. The peace of mind this group gives is outstanding. Our pets are our kids and each one is treated like a King and Queen at Central Vets. Central Veterinarian Hospital is a great place, fantastic caring people and very knowledgeable.
