I don’t usually leave reviews. First off this vet is way way over priced. We go to Luverne Vet and everything is literally half the price or less. Other places like Sioux Nation also much More reasonable. I called in to ask for help with my pregnant dog that was an established dog there and they told me I needed a better client/vet friendship to help us more. (Why would they say that?!) We switched over to Horizon because our puppy had an allergic reaction to his vaccines and our previous vet didn't seem concerned at all. Horizon offered to split up the vaccines, give him medicine for any symptoms he may have, and watch him for a few hours to make sure he does okay with this new method. We also had to make an emergency appointment when our small puppy ate a grape and they got us in right away. Great experiences each time we've been seen. Horizon found a bladder stone in my cat that two other vets missed. I called on a Friday morning, they saw him later that afternoon and were still able to see him Monday morning for surgery. The vet personally called me to talk about how surgery went and her specific concerns for my cat's recovery. They sent me home with an entire sheet of instructions written specifically for us by the doctor (not just generic aftercare stuff). They called me after he had been home for a few... days to see how he was doing. When I brought him in to get his staples out last Friday, I expressed concern about leaving him alone overnight (we were going out of town to visit family for the holidays), and the vet tech actually offered to come to my house and check on my cat if I couldn't find a friend to do it - during the Christmas holiday weekend! Amazing customer service. I had a friend that could come over, but her offer was above and beyond anything I ever expected. Odin (our yellow lab)came to Horizon Pet Care for a second opinion on his leg. Dr Mark knew what the problem was when he saw him. He gave us different options for his leg. Odin had surgery in September. It has been 6 months since surgery. Odin has endured some issues but being a 1 year old lab it happens when he needs to be on a leash during recovery time. He is back to playing with his sister Jayde. Dr. Mark and the staff at Horizon Per Care are amazing. They went above and beyond with their kindness, sincere concern and thoughtfulness about the need of my pet and me as well. I would email or call them and they would get back to us regarding Odin. I can't tell you how much this clinic and the team of vet and vet techs have meant to me and my family. I only have two cats Jack &a Olivier but man do they love my cats and treat them like their own. They have amazing experience and knowledge and solutions for just about everything!! I love them and I will never go to another clinic for my cats. Specifically we had 2 major situations, one was a food allergy with Jack after PURINA almost killed him, never use purina, anyways we looked like such a mess walking in the doors but they greeted us they immediately gave me a solution that involved doing things in step by step fashion and it was a success! Another was fleas, I was devasted bc we've had indoor/outdoor pets my whole life and now indoor cats that got fleas!?! They assured me it wasn't bc anything specific nor to be too upset about, there are plenty of ways to get rid of them, mind u I was crying pretty hard feeling like a bad cat owner for not knowing about the fleas immediately, ( forgive me I can't recall her name at the moment) gave me a perfect solution and reassured me it would be okay, all the while gave my cat a shot to calm his coat from "ichyness" just lifesavers ... and knew I was on a tight budget so gave me the best cost effective solutions which I appreciate too. I brought my cat in not knowing what was wrong and feeling terrified that she was going to die. The problem was life threatening but all the staff and her veterinarian Jennifer Stevens were very straightforward yet positive. No one suggested euthanasia as an option which I really appreciate because it made me feel like they valued my pet's life like I do. Dr Stevens did an emergency surgery and not only saved my cat's life but she didn't do anything she considered unnecessary as a veterinarian, as to save on the cost. I think the balance of that is extremely ethical, as they could've charged a lot more and I'd just be happy to have a healthy family member and I think she knew that but didn't take advantage. I now have a cat that won't stop cuddling and hopefully has many years left of life. Everyone from the receptionist to the assistant to Dr Stevens had empathy to me and my pet and I never felt like it was "just a job" to anyone there.Read Less

Colby was in the best possible hands during his short time there and despite the heartbreaking outcome none of us never felt pressured or like questions weren't answered. My mom recently had a very sick kitty. He was sick all weekend and we brought him in first thing Monday morning. I have is really big cat in my hands trying to get the door open, the receptionist looks right at me and walks away. Then we get inside first thing the receptionist say "are you here for euthanasia?" How rude to assume that. We say no he's sick he needs help. We sit another 10 minutes in the waiting room before my mom asks to ask to us put in a room. The doctor and her assistant were nice. But we end up leaving him there for care. The receptionist asks 4 times if my mom is going to pay her bill now. Then we get home. Here her cat had a heart attack while we were walking out the door. No one said a word. They let use drive all the way back to Sioux Falls to get home and find out that he had a heart attack as we were walking out the door. No one bothered to say a word! So my mom had to go all the way back to Brandon to pick up her baby!! I'm throughly disappointed!! The receptionist there was very rude and un accommodating. I feel so bad my mom had to lose her baby, but then have to put up with the rudeness under these circumstances is unforgivable. I hope some day that receptionist goes through the same thing and someone treats her that way! This was a bad situation made worse by the receptionist attitude!!Read Less

Absolutely amazing staff and we are so grateful for Dr. Rogen! Our dog Captain had a nasty tumor on his leg, unfortunately our options were to amputate or euthanize. Dr. Rogen was very knowledgeable and I appreciated him taking the time to go over every detail and what we should expect during and after surgery. Captain's amputation went very well, the care and compassion from the staff here exceeded all expectations. It gave us peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. It's been a month post op, we have had no complications and Captain is happy, active and healthy again. We will definitely be making the 40 minute drive to take all of our dogs here. Dr Mark Braunschmidt and staff are the best !! I took my Yorkie Abby to him for extensive dental issues. I thought I was sending her in for a dental cleaning but it turned into much more. Dr Mark diagnosed Abby with liver issues several years ago. We have been medicating her and very cautious for her on any of her vet needs. Now with this dental issue , Dr made sure she was healthy enough for her surgery ( cleaning) ran several tests. After we received a good report on the tests we set up the cleaning appt. I knew she was in good hand but this day I was so scared for my little Abby. A few hours after I left her I received a phone call that the cleaning was not the issue. She had several infected teeth and lots of bone lose around her teeth. He asked me if I would allow he to pull all of her teeth but 3. I was deviated, but again I have so much trust in Dr Mark that I told him to do everything needed to help her out. He did leave her with 3 teeth that day. I went to pick her up and she was she winey and seemed so fragile. The staff was wonderful comforting me and sending me home with as much information as possible to make Abbys recovery as smooth as can be. It is now 2 weeks after that agonizing day. I took Abby back for a check up ( complimentary ) the staff hugged Abby. Dr Mark hugged Abby and myself!! They again were very caring and full of information on how to continue helping Abby learn how to live the rest of her life with 3 teeth. Abby is more full of energy and happier today then she was 2 weeks ago with her dental issues. Thank you Dr Mark and staff. You guys are the best.
