Dr. John English, his associates and staff are certainly TOPS in my book. My 18 year old Siamese mix doesn't travel well, and though she is *very curious,* she has trouble trusting others outside "her family." Whike Dr. John's major practice is large animals, he and his associates and staff must be commended for excellent and MORE THAN COMPETENT care and tender treatment of their small patients. Love this place. The vet Dr. English is very nice and well respected in the community. The last visit was to have our Boston Terrier puppy neutered. All went as planned and we picked him up safe and sound. He also offers dental services for our K9's at a reasonable price. I hate to say I would recommend him because he is already so busy. I wish I could give zero stars. it's absolutely ridiculous that you cannot schedule appointments for annual vaccines. walk ins only make it at least an hour wait for shots. there are no vet techs, the place wreaks to high heaven, you have to put your own animal on the scale. heaven forbid there's an emergency and they cancel walk in appointments with no notice. the vet actually made my dog of 8+ years bleed when he trimmed his nails... in all 8+ of trimming my dog's nails, I've never made him bleed. he sits perfectly still for me and offers each paw. I could hear him crying from whatever this terrible excuse of a vet was doing to him. ohhh, and they also tried to overcharge me $100 that I called them out on. Read Less

Never met Dr. English, but I did meet his co worker. Meyer is his name I think. This man does not seem like he knows what he is doing. When we took my beloved cat Cali of 15 years to be put down he came into the room after the procedure, kept talking about how she was lifeless and then proceeded to flick her eyeball. To show that there were no “reflexes”. Her eyeball! If you deal with Dr. English I’ve heard it’s a great experience but his coworker is not someone I will EVER want to touch my animals. The ladies up front are also very rude and uninformed. We called to check up on our cat that had a UTI and the woman said he had been put under! Then realized after going back and checking on him that he was just asleep and had not been put under. When we arrived the same lady was very rude to us and other customers. My honest opinion is to take your animals elsewhere unless you deal with Dr. English directly. Read Less

We have received the best care for all of our fur babies for over 20 years. So much so that people are shocked to hear that our Chihuahuas are 16 and 17 years old. Our cat lived to be 18 years old. When we had to have her put to sleep last year Dr. English and his staff cried with us but made the transition a little easier on us knowing that he loved her just as much as we did. Dr. English and Dr. Meyer are very understanding and informative when it comes to the care of my pets. There is one problem that need to be addressed. Just one of the staff member need help with their attitude problem. We know it's busy every Saturday but doesn't mean that you have to be rude when someone is asking a simple question. Amazing service, when I walked in with a toddler and a Great Dane by myself , we were pretty sure what her issue was and what she needed. I was offered for a vet tech to take care of her so I wouldn't have to wait in the doc. Yes yes and yes!!! I was out of there in 15 minutes, and my dog is 100% better today!!!! Clients for life !!! Dr english has been great with our cat. Kept great watch over her after she had an accident and broke her leg. I'd never go to another. He is a very genuine hearted vet, and I've not had that great care of a pet since the vet my mother used when I was a child. Cheaper than munford animal hospital by far too!!! Dr. English is the firstvet I have taken my lab Marlee too that works with me. Marlee is extremely protective and can become very agressive, but Dr. English still treats him as if Marlee is not wanting to tear him apart. This drastically helps me since a trip to the vet can be so stressful with Marlee. We will not be changing vets. Doctor is super sweet; I came with a friend the first time she brought her puppy. Brought my dog to be seen and was informed in an odd way that the vet stops seeing pets at 1pm. That should be clarified on the website. It's not nice leaving anywhere feel like an inconvenience when being given information. Read Less

I really love Dr English! When I drove all the way to Ripley, I did so because I could tell he was more about the love of the animal and not trying to get rich off a few patients. When he sold his clinic that changed. I had multiple dogs so I appreciated his fairness. I needed his services about 3 Saturday's ago when something attacked one of my little shihtzu's. He was in bad shape. We had to take him on Summer Ave Emergency and after a $900 deposit, he still lost his life. Now this is the 3rd time I've needed a vet and I'm told "we don't have one today!" What? I know he had a young woman working there as a vet. It makes no business spence why the would both take the same day off. I am extremely frustrated! I can't rate this. It will not let me tap on rating them which is a good thing for them because right now they would be lucky to get 1 star. Seriously???
