I can not believe what just happened. My cat was attacked by something causing area on side to become infected and oozing pus. I called for appointment today as she clearly needs urgent treatment. I was told no appointments today or tomorrow but Wednesday! I asked the young lady if I could be "worked" in as my cat needed medical attention now and now Wed. She apologized but said she was sorry but no appointments. She would be happy to see if any of the other locations had appointments today. I have taken my cat to this location before so its not a new patient. Needless to say I am extremely upset for the lack of care this facility projects. Read Less

They gave my dog the WRONG vaccination. I have been coming to this location for a couple years now and have always had wonderful things to say. I also have recommended many people to Value Vet. However, lately things have changed and I will no longer be a customer. I took my dog in for his yearly shots (which when I called to make an appointment I listed the vaccines he was do for). When they brought my dog back and I was paying to leave, I noticed the cost was higher than I expected. They ended up giving my dog a rabies vaccine, although he was not due for one as he had the 3yr vaccine prior. They quickly removed the cost from my bill but my dog still received the WRONG VACCINATION. I work in the medical field (people not animals) but I know how important it is to verify the right medication with the right individual. However, Value Vet did not do this. They did not verify at check-in the vaccines my dog was to receive that day. They also took my dog to the back to receive his vaccines while I waited in front, so I was unable to double check with the vet tech before administration. I also never received documentation of the vaccines he received that day, which should be standard with your receipt. I will no longer be coming here, as safety and quality of care is a priority for me and my dog. Value Vet, please improve you safety processes so mistakes like this do not happen again. Read Less

I can't say enough about this place! They really went above and beyond for me and my kitties when I got them fixed (I have a boy and girl kitten, 6 months old). I'll start by saying I was skeptical because of the reviews and the 'you get what you pay for' stigma. But I couldn't have been more wrong! The place is super clean, very orderly. It has smelled like it's just been freshly cleaned every time I walk in. The staff is so nice and informative. They answered all of my silly questions and didn't have an attitude like some places do. They made sure to thoroughly explain the after-care process and kept and open door and open phone line for me, just in case! They even called a couple days after to check on them. Most places in Nashville will charge $300 or more to have your kittens fixed and I spent less than $200 for both. Great staff, great quality and great service. This will definitely be my go-to pet place from now on! Read Less

Will never go back again. Not only were they not knowledgeable enough based on their decisions, they both overdosed and caused unnecessary injury to my cat. First, they drew blood from the inner back leg as opposed to the front. The vet's reasoning: she stated that she "has trouble getting a vein on the front leg" (she never tried the front legs, nor did she hit the veins on the first try btw). Second, she not only drew blood from one leg, but both and 2 vials worth (this was just a regular check up). Not only did she draw from both legs but I actually witnessed her pulling on the plunger over and over to force blood out. I was not happy about this and my cats legs were bruised and tender for some time after. Third, my cat does not do well with the vet and needs a little sedation to calm him. Well, they completely overdosed him that he still had trouble with balance the next day and he didn't fully recover for 2 days. Not to mention that they used only 1 drug as opposed to a cocktail, which is the preferred. I took a chance due to economic constraints, though I will not make that decision again. Would not recommend if you truly care about your animal. Read Less

Where to begin...these people provided us with affordable, compassionate, judgment-free care and advice for our 17-year old pup. They were exactly what we needed, when we needed it to help our aging dog transition gracefully and comfortably to the end of her life. When we finally had to visit an emergency after hours clinic to end her suffering, the incredible employees at Value Vet took the time to send us a heartfelt card expressing their sympathy for our loss. They did not need to do that, but it was such a lovely gesture that helped ease our grief. If we ever decide to adopt a new pet, Value Vet in Bellevue will certainly be our veternarian of choice! She was incredibly rude, placed me on multiple waits that were extensive and refused to share information with me about my pets bc my wife hadent "authorized" me on the account. If you base it off of staff and service, it's 5 stars all around. However, advertising value and charging $50 for micro-chipping, I learned is not a value. I found it for $15 locally at Tractor Supply the very next day. To me, that's a little too much of a hike in price. Tractor Supply also does the registration and takes care of everything for you. I will go back, because, like I said the staff and service is great...just watch the pricing and do some comparison before saying yes. Just because it has 'value' in the title, doesn't mean you're actually getting a good value.Read Less

My five stars is for Dr. Buford specifically. Our pets have seen her several times and a couple for some health scares and she is always kind, honest and helpful. She's gotten our babies better several times! My only gripe with the clinic itself is that you can't call an individual location. You can only call their call center. And often times they tell you even in an emergent situation that they can't see you. I did get one doctor we did NOT like. Dr. Tripp sent my hurting baby home with nothing. We went back to Dr. Buford a day or two later and she gave my boy a couple of days worth of meds and he was back to normal in no time! I would give Dr. Buford all of the stars in the world! If she ever opens up her own clinic I will be her first customer! Read Less

I love this vet. The price for my dog's vaccines are $15.00 each, and I don't have to see the vet for the follow up vaccines - cutting the cost more (thier suggestion). The techs are awesome and friendly - my dog loves them and can't wait to get in there. When he was nuetered, he didn't like the kennels, so the vet took him in her office and let him sleep under he desk and said he was quite a lovey dog - which he is :). As to the review about upfront prices - IT'S ON THE WEBSITE, ON THE WALL INSIDE, AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYWHERE. If you hit a busy time, and the tech failed to tell you, then that is unfortunate, but we all have moments, and 30 vs the standard 75 at most vets is pretty fair. As for payment plans, some neighborhood vets do do this - as I have experienced. Some neighborhood vets have also STOPPED doing this, as they have not been paid. Value vet doesy offer a third party for you to make payment arrangements with. You don't do credit - but credit from the vet - with no interest, and lots of risk for the vet - was exactly what you were asking for. Sounds like you are being difficult instead of reasonable there - they are, at the core, a business. And the vets are NOT the owners, they are employees who can be fired at will, for offering what you were requesting. I understand being short on funds, but I really, really, am tired of the ""front me, take care of me"" mentality. Part of owning a pet is the expense of taking care of the pet. Don't ask the practice to offer you interest free credit - they can't. It's pretty upfront (ie, on the wall and the paperwork), that they don't do that. They offered you the only solution they could, which was to apply for third party financing. The tech that said take them home to die, seriously??? No matter how difficult, how in the world could you say that and be a vet tech?? Horrible, gees. Some people think of their animals like their kids, and I know a lot that would go nuts over that comment. Shame... Read Less

CITYSEARCH MODERATORS -- Please don't delete this post unless you also delete the post by abargatze. This response is intended to counteract the score weighting by abargatze's 5 star rating, which isn't a legitimate rating from a customer. CB2010, Thank you for your review. As twisted as it sounds, it's often the negative reviews that are most helpful because it's often in those challenging situations that the real character of an establishment comes out. abartgaze, you're review isn't a review at all. I'd condemn you for it except that this isn't a review either. There are other forums on the internet for ranting and slandering people. The fact that you are a tech, at all, is ultimately going to color your opinion, not that it's hard to see the taint on your words. CB2010's review did not complain about not ""getting something for free"". Rather, it was merely stated that disclosure of fees wasn't made up front. If you're in WalMart, there are prices stuck to the shelves everywhere so that customers can decide what to put INTO their carts in the first place. If CB2010's experience is as alleged, it would actually be like a customer going to Walmart, buying a candy bar that they thought would cost 79 cents and then being asked to pay $10 after the candy bar was eaten! Maybe the problem with Value Vets is that they employ people, possibly such as yourself, who are so calloused and insensitive that they are even CAPABLE of making a statement like ""just let it die at home for all we care"". By the way, who's ""we"" if, indeed, you don't work for VV? And the last thing I'll suggest is that you might be well served to search your heart as to whether your statement ""We understand when people do not have the money..."" is really, reeeeeeaaaaally true because you all BUT explicitly contradict yourself by even taking your precious time to write a rant about a legitimate customer's comments about price. So for the sake of the CitySearch community and even your very own health.... have a glass of wine and relax. one star to even the score.... Read Less

ok, so please go back and read everything that you have written. Are you really complaining because you did not recieve free things. And the wal-mart thing is a great way to explain these situations to ignorant people like you. You brought the pet to the vet, expect to pay something, and quit complaining everytime a vet quotes you a price. If you are going to complain then do not bring the pet in and just let it die at home for all we care. I dont even work for V V and i am annoyed by this comment. vet has put things like care credit to help. We understand when people do not have the money, speaking as a technician. I've been very pleased with Value Vet so far. I've taken both my dog and cat there. I switched from a pricey vet in Brentwood after a friend recommended them. There is not a massive difference in price, but I'd say there's enough of a difference, combined with what I perceive to actually be better care, to make the switch worthwhile. I visited the Bellevue Value Vet today out of desperation. My regular vet was out of town & VV is convenient to where I live. Upfront payment requirements were not divulged until the very end of the $29 exam, which I paid. A customer should never be led through the sales process without being given clear payment policy parameters. Dr. French was fine; she confirmed my cat did not have a blockage. After her 5 minute overview, she went outside to create an action plan. Tech came in a while later to review the vet's recommendations (fluids, antibiotic, blood panel, steroid shot). She said the total would be $220 (+ or - a few $s). I explained I would not be able to pay the full amount for one day. Tech replied, ""This is like WalMart where you shop & should expect to pay the full amount at checkout."" Interesting. Animal care and WalMart seem like quite different ""animals."" Excuse the pun. I politely asked tech to make an exception. She told me to come back when I have the money. We started to leave. Tech said she would call her manager. We waited a while. Tech returned to say her manager was on the line. FYI, Value Vet is comprised of one large room with a few exam rooms on the periphery. Conceivably, multiple procedures occur simultaneously. The phone is in the middle of the large room. Manager asked if I could do ANYTHING to get the money. I detailed my explanation about the payment. She recommended that I apply for CareCredit to cover the expense. I replied that I stay away from credit. She said there was nothing she could do. And then: ?Think about WalMart or the grocery store. You don?t go there, put groceries in your cart, & then not pay at the register, now do you?? I told her I would not pursue doing business with VV, that I would take my baby to one of the excellent independent vets that I know in the Nashville area. These independent vets are people who understand the importance of relationships, trust and community. The west side of Nashville is BUILT on these things. I felt temporarily demeaned but angry. The animal care business is competitive. If I were a vet attempting to establish myself in a community of deep roots, I would not set myself apart by indoctrinating The WalMart Analogy Mantra. Hopefully. Value Vet's customers will take their business to vets of integrity - where customers are approached with genuine kindness and grace ? as friends. Read Less

They did not need to do that, but it was such a lovely gesture that helped ease our grief. If we ever decide to adopt a new pet, Value Vet in Bellevue will certainly be our veternarian of choice! I called and spoke with Amber at the front desk, this is my local Value Vet and I have been there several times within the last year. She was incredibly rude, placed me on multiple waits that were extensive and refused to share information with me about my pets bc my wife hadent "authorized" me on the account. I have never had anyone throw this many stones in my wheel, especially when I am trying to schedule a regular check up. She mocked me when I asked to speak with her superior so I decided to express make my opinion within the community via a google review. Read Less

But do not expect to recieve free things. We will help in other ways. But seriously dont complain because you didnt get something free Read Less

I took my dog for his annual exam/vaccines and my cat for an emergency situation and received excellent service each time - 2 different vets. Read Less

Hopefully. Value Vet's customers will take their business to vets of integrity - where customers are approached with genuine kindness and grace ? as friends. Read Less
