Banfield is absolutely TERRIBLE . They diagnosed my 7 month old cat Yesterday with Ovarian Cancer and told me she only had 4-6months to live . I saw an oncologist specialist at River Emergency Hospital on Amnicola Hwy and my cat does NOT have cancer !!! Thank you Banfield for stressing me out to the max and putting me in a depression state to decide wether I needed to put my kitten down for absolutely no reason!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable . Love this place the staff and Dr.'s treated us like family. They were as concerned about my Brat as I was he had to have a minor procedure done and became hypothemic during the procedure one of the staff members came to inform me of what was going on and a staff member stayed with him until he was better.as far as my pets they will all go to Banfield they are awesome. Disgraceful vets. You can check their qualifications online and see they have no special education for any exotic animals- like everything sold in PetSmart. But do they tell management to take sick birds, lizards, and hamsters to someone who knows what they are doing? No. They google info and make an educated guess. Or just put it down if it seems like too much work. It's cheaper and easier after all. They can't even manage to do a fecal test for worms! That bird is skinny and might have contagious worms? Put it down. That bird is stressed and overheated? He should "eat nachos with Jesus." Actual quote. The hamster needs antibiotics? Well he might not make it and medicine costs a few dollars so let's not even give him a chance. Then they think it is normal for a snake's penis to pop out constantly. And be covered in mites. And it's OK that the hamster's behind is covered in diarrhea and is red. The guinea pig still has a URI? Meh. Sell it. Don't be fooled by friendly front desk staff, they don't make this a real vet. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The staff does not care AT ALL about your pet. All they care about is money. Unless you are standing there with an emergency, ready to spend $800, they are not going to give you the time of day. The Vet's are nice, but the staff is absolutely horrible. We were refused treatment for my dog because "an emergency came in" and were refused an answer as to when my cat's Dr would be there (an emergency situation on our end) because "we have an ACTUAL emergency in here." The vet seemed fairly knowledgeable, but the overall experience was a little like dealing with an overly-pushy used car salesperson. Story: we got a new puppy, and took him here that day sort of as a weekend trip to see if he needs a vet in a couple days or RIGHT NOW. Banfield PUSHED for their wellness plans. That's just sales, I know, but they went so far as to discount my plans to find a permanent vet and write-off my plan for veterinary insurance. Seems to me, when selling your animal health plans goes against the best interest of the animal's health, you've crossed a line.Read Less

I trusted Banfield with the care of my dog Lexi for the entire time I had her. Unfortunately, the most recent trip to Banfield was her last one. She was nearly 14 years old and time caught up to her. I was an absolute wreck but the veterinary staff gave me as much time as I needed to say goodbye and helped me choose what to do with her remains. WE HAVE A BABY WHO IS DIABETIC WHO RECENTLY BECAME BLINDAND HAS SEVERAL HEALTH ISSUES. WE HAVE NOW BEEN TURNED AWAY BY DR S STATING SHE DOES NOT SEE WITHOUT AND APPOINTMENT UNLESS ITS AN EMERGENCY. TO US IT IS WHEN OUR BABY FALLS OUT, PANTING, DISORIENTED BUT TO HER IT'S AN APPOINTMENT. SHE TURNS CUSTOMERS AWAY STATING IT IS HER DECISION ON WHO SHE WILL SEE AND WHEN!!!!!! Dr. Barnette is a fantastic vet! He always takes his time with your animal. He is our only vet and is taking care of both of our dogs. I would never bring my pets to any other vet but him! The staff are great people, and always have a smile on their faces. I will always come back! Read Less

Dr Martin is great. He always takes good care of my Yorkie. The staff is always friendly. The only downside is that the wait is usually very long, but this is an extremely busy office. They always take their time with me and my dog, so I don't mind the wait. Read Less

Vets perform extreme and unecessary procedures to make money. Kept my 10 week old puppy over night and gave her excessive amounts of medication (so they could charge me for it). Well all that medication killed her. All they could say was "sorry, we don't know what happened" Autopsy came back and said that the amount of pain medication in her system was higher than the recommended dosage. If you want your pets healthy (and alive), don't take them here. Read Less
