We adopted a 5 month old puppy a month prior to our first visit here. We were charged for a fecal exam that we did not request and did not need as we had already addressed worms with oral medication prior to this visit. Along with that, I question whether or not the tech was even able to get enough for the sample. Anyway we were charged 12.50 and no one ever even referenced the sample during the visit. Not a huge deal, but still frustrating. Then, both the vet tech and the vet both stated that the only vaccine he needed was the final DAP of the booster. When we left and looked at the bill we were also charged for the leptospira. Again, we did not request this, were not told that he needed it, or even told that he got it. I called back to question this after looking up the leptospira and seeing that it was not necessary. The lady on the phone was very nonchalant and stated that it was mixed and administered with the DAP. I reiterated to her that I was never told that he needed that or that he was getting that. She made no apologies. Overall, pretty frustrated by our visit here. I would be leery of returning there because just for a routine visit we were charged for items we were never told our dog needed. I have been to this vet over 5 times now. The main point I took away each time is that they seemed more concerned with getting your money than helping your animal and doing a service for the community. It is hard to get any estimate on what the cost will be until after it is done and the price is never what it's supposed to be when you get there. I think overall the prices are too high for the services and the explanations way too nonchalant. This is soley my opinion based on my experiences. Read Less

I had a male chihuahua named Buddy, he was misdiagnosed with allergies for three years and out of those three years they took three chest x-rays and all of the veterinarian's over there looked at his chest x-rays and came to a conclusion that he had allergies continued to say he had allergies and for three years I trusted them took them at their word and I blame myself partly because I should have taken him somewhere else because when he got really bad last October I did take him somewhere else and that veterinarian had East Brainerd veterinarian clinics chest x-rays of Buddy's sent over and this veterinarian looked at it for all of about 30 seconds and said he doesn't have allergies he has lung disease and he died the next day and if it would have been caught three to six months before he'd still be a alive today and knowing that for three years they had me treating him for something that was not affecting him and for three years they weren't treating him for something that was affecting him. I have used Dr Revel and Dr Carter for close to 5 years now, since moving here from Texas. They are incredibly good at what they do, and all of my animals relax with them. Their prices are reasonable and they have never pushed for a treatment if I wasn't comfortable, and have always been wonderfully open about holistic approaches. The last place I used, the vets were awesome (it kind of broke my heart to leave a certain vet), but the front staff were horrible. The one visit I've had at East Brainerd was awesome. We've had our dogs cared for by East Brainerd Animal Hospital (primarily by Neal Ligon, but also by the other veterinarians at times) for years. The care there has always been excellent. On Memorial Day of this year, our elderly Cocker Spaniel (Shadow) went into sudden and severe distress, and it became clear to us that he would have to be put down. Because East Brainerd Animal Hospital was closed for the holiday, we took Shadow to the Animal Emergency Center on Lee Hwy. Thankfully the staff at the Animal Emergency Center was skilled and caring, as we tearfully stayed by Shadow's side until the end. On the intake forms, we had listed East Brainerd Animal Hospital as Shadow's veterinarian. Imagine our surprise (and new tears) when, shortly after, we received a sympathy card in the mail from East Brainerd Animal Hospital, hand-signed with sweet notes by all of the staff. Apparently the Animal Emergency Center had informed East Brainerd Animal Hospital of Shadow's passing. When we had to have our first dog put down a few years earlier, we were able to take him to East Brainerd Animal Hospital, and afterward we received a sympathy card from them, hand-signed by the staff, as well as a paw print from our dog. So precious and touching. But to have received a sympathy card from them after Shadow had been put down at a different facility was beyond precious and touching. We were so moved and blessed by this unexpected kindness. East Brainerd Animal Hospital truly cares for its clients and their pets. Their love for animals and their understanding of what their clients' pets mean to them is outstanding. I took Libby to Dr. CARTER on the suggestion of my neighbor because no one could fix Libbys ears. Yep she's a Cocker spaniel. One visit to see dr. Carter and her ears are are so good they are almost normal." Didn't cost me a fortune" as it did in other vets that did nothing. She plays, she eats when she supposed to instead of having to feed her whenever, she's just a different dog. I just cannot say enough how good Doctor Carter is his staff is phenomenal everyone there is friendly everyone there cares about your dog or your cat or your reptile. After my 7 month old puppy was involved in an accident near their practice, my husband rushed him to East Brainerd Animal Hospital because it was closer than our regular vet. The staff and doctors attended to our dog right away and even though they are regularly closed over the weekend the doctor stayed late on Saturday to preform a necessary blood transfusion, and came in on Sunday morning to check on our puppy's progress. The staff were kind and sympathetic and the facility is clean and modern from the waiting room all the way to the operating room.
