Last night around 11:00 P.M. EST we noticed that one of our puppies isn't putting any weight on her back left leg. Our primary veterinarian is fully booked for another week. Our veterinarian recommended that we call another clinic or go to an emergency clinic. We called around until we found availability at Highway 58 Animal Hospital. I wish I had read the reviews and found another clinic... The front desk staff was nice but that's where the good part of our experience ended. We went back hopeful that they could help our puppy. The vet tech veterinary technician was very impersonal. The table was dirty and covered in dog hair. Our puppy is only 2 weeks and 5 days old so I was concerned about the risk of contamination and disease. When I asked her to clean the table she exclaimed that she'd just cleaned it. I pointed out the dirt and dog hair on the table. After giving me a snarky glare she sprayed and wiped the table down very quickly. Reluctantly, I set the puppy down on the table with a towel. She came back with Dr. Lebron Brock. Dr. Brock came off very impersonal, not compassionate and dry. He took the puppy and began to examine her. He listened to her heart but never check her ears, eyes, mouth, nose, or other parts. He only examined her leg and moved it different directions. He said that he couldn't feel any fractures, torn ligaments or joints. We were told to wait until Tuesday and then bring the puppy back in if she was still bothered by her leg. He didn't prescribe her any pain medication but said that she was in pain if she wasn't using her leg. He also wanted to take X-rays on Tuesday. I feel that I have been ripped off for my money. My own primary veterinarian recommend that she go to an emergency veterinary clinic. He treated the examine like quick cash in his pocke. He examined her for an estimated 5 mins. maximum. I've never felt that a veterinarian didn't care about the well being of animals. Regrettably, I paid and signed for no answers on my puppy. Read Less

This vet is fine if you are just wanting yearly shots, nails trimmed, etc. but I would not use them for anything else. My dog went in for a daily blood glucose test, at pick up time, the vet said she was having issues and needed to stay overnight. They informed use we would be called in the morning for an update. I asked if I needed to take her to a 24 hr vet, was told no. The next morning, we called to check on her and was informed we would be called back when the vet was finished with rounds. Keep in mind, They open at 7:30 a.m. We were not called back until after 11:00 a.m. and were told she had suffered from multiple seizures and was in kidney failure!!! The vet on duty informed us, that the vet on duty the previous day, had called him and informed him our dog was in very bad condition. That was not the impression we were given the day before. I understand things happen that are beyond people's control; what I do not understand and will not forgive, is the fact I was not informed for over three hours, my dog was suffering. By the time we got to her, she had no idea who I was and was almost unrecognizable. Had I been informed earlier, I would not have allowed her to suffer that much. We euthanized her shortly after my arrival because nothing else could be done. Read Less

She isn't friendly with anyone but us, so I was very worried. They refused to give her sedatives to calm her down which was very kind and they worked with her until she was comfortable days later. I have been to three other places in Chattanooga and two in Nashville. I used to go to the animal hospital on the other side of town. The quality of this clinic is the highest and I will not take my dog anywhere else. These people care. There are people with the dogs at all times and a doctor on call. They go out of their way, which is hard to find. The only thing I wish is that the outside was cleaner and they were open Sundays. I highly recommend Highway 58 Animal Hospital. Read Less

Luckily I had a few left from when I had my female fixed the year before at Wallys. Then recently I decided to give them another chance. Then he told me that if the 2nd xray and the ultrasound didn?t tell us enough, we?d have to get a CAT scan and probably call in a specialist. I guess I look like I can afford to pay out thousands of dollars at Christmastime, but that?s beside the point. I couldn?t understand why we wouldn?t just do exploratory surgery and get right to the bottom of it, without all this expensive testing that may or may not tell us anything. What I found out from my father (who has a doctorate in anatomy and physiology) is that you should NEVER put a steroid shot and an analgesic together, it can wreak havoc on your dog?s liver. He says any vet knows that. Also, it is not recommended to do any surgery except in cases of emergency so soon after a dog has had a steroid injection. So I took my dog to a new vet, who was troubled by the excessive use of steroids on my little dog (he?d had 2 or 3 shots from them) and the fact that they were combined with an analgesic. I have had growing concerns about the cleanliness of the place--it seems to have finally reached the point where you could call it ?filthy?--and I would not recommend this vet or this facility to anyone. I have been taking my dogs to 58 hwy since they were pups and if they came back with any kind of scabs or fleas or anything else out of the ordinary it was because the pet owners don't bathe their pets or take them into the vet to get checked out. These vets always take care of my dogs and if you don't want to have your dog or cat dirty when you pick them up, they do offer to bathe your animal for a minimal fee which i think is very reasonable, especially if they are going to stay there more than 3 days. I always bathe my dog before taking him in and if i feel that we are going to stay away a little longer than usual, i have them bathe him and trim his nails etc. Don't blame the vet for your laziness. I'll never ever take another one of my pets to Highway 58. Unfortunately, it took losing our pet of 7 years after he was neutered by this vet to realize their lack of professionalism. They allowed us to take our dog home after surgery, without relaying any concern for his labored breathing. He was already in distress - and we waited several hours before getting him to the emergency veterinarian during the night. Had we known how near death he was when we picked him up, we would have gone straight from Hwy 58 to the emergency vet and never looked back. He most likely could have been saved him at that point. As it turned out, he had pneumonia -- did they not listen to his breathing????? When they learned that our pet died at the emergency clinic, they showed absolutely NO compassion or care. I have been using Hwy 58 Animal Clinic for years. My 14 year old Cocker (Tiffany) has been going there since she was born. When I moved across town, I tried several other clinics, but ended up going all the way across town to go back to Hwy 58. The doctors and staff are very friendly and concerned about Tiffany. The doctors always spend all the time I need to make sure I understand what is going on and what I need to do. They have the best service, and they never try to rip me off financially like most clinics do. That's why I continue to travel all the way across town, and will continue to. Read Less

I have been using Hwy 58 Animal Clinic for years. My 14 year old Cocker (Tiffany) has been going there since she was born. This so called animal hospital killed 2 of my dogs! They didn't correctly examine my sick dog, they said she was just sick and sent her home with us and she died that night. Next, one of my dogs got pregnant and she was too little to push the babies out so they decided to do a C-section, they gave her too much medicine when they put her to sleep for the operation and didn't notice until after they cut her open, she died and they didnt even sew her up, they handed her to us in a bloody blanket and all they said was sorry. THEY ARE PATHETIC AND IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR ANIMAL.. DO NOT GO HERE!! Read Less
