I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Shallowford Animal Hospital. I have been going for over five years and the service is excellent. Both Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Mabe are A+ they provided the absolute best care to my late sweet Peaches and now for my two little puppies. When it got to the point that I had to take Peaches to RIVER because her lungs were failing, the doctor could only tweak her medicine doses because Dr. Mabe had done everything right. She talked with me countless times in person and on the phone over the course of those last difficult months with my baby Peach and I am forever appreciative of her knowledge, skill and compassion. As for the office staff- also EXCELLENT. Just today, I left for vacation with my pups and left an important medicine at home. Sarah spent much time helping me to find out how I can best get the medicine to Florida (if it could be shipped etc...). Initially I was really loving this place. Friendly service, knowledgeable staff, fairly priced.... Then I went back with a sick dog. They did a few tests, didn't have any real answers - which I understand due to her illness - and sent me to an ER clinic. The ER clinic spent two days trying to save my sweet girl to no avail. HOWEVER, since the appointment I have received a chipper follow-up call checking on my pup as if she was home bouncing around, not as if they were asking how things were going at the hospital knowing she was sick, when they were the ones who transferred her to the ER clinic. I brushed it aside, because careless mistakes can happen, but now it's been a week since my dog died at the ER clinic where they were keeping in touch with the SAH doctor, and I just received an email from SAH reminding me to order her heart worm medicine. C'mon, y'all. Follow up with the sick patient's ER care, and remove them from the email list/call list when they pass. It's a painful reminder that she wasn't saved. Read Less

I use them as my primary vet for 2 dogs and 2 cats. They're really great. Sometimes it seems a little slow, but it's usually because they're answering questions and taking there time with people and their pets. I cannot express just how great the entire staff here is.  The facilities are modern and clean.  The cost of care is quite reasonable.  When my dog was having issues in her old age they found time in the schedule to see her.  When it came to saying goodbye to my pup (only experienced twice) they went above and beyond to make sure my dog and I were comfortable and that everything was explained well.  I searched for a bit when I first moved here, and am glad I came across Dr. Hamilton and the rest of the staff here.  I highly highly recommend Shallowford Animal Hospital and the entire team. This place is absolutely amazing. We recently relocated from another city with our two poodles in tow and having to stay in a hotel until we could find a home. Both our dogs were having issues, one especially was having a hard time with really bad diarrhea. We walked into this office with both dogs, without an appointment, and they got us right into a room. Within minutes someone was taking our information and then the vet came in and took such amazing care of our girls. The office is clean and organized and the staff is incredibly nice. When we were ready to check out, we were surprised to find out one of our dogs visit was free since it was our first visit. Even without this discount, the prices are still very reasonable. Love Shallowford been going for years with my dog ,they have always been nice and informative never have I had a issue.Also love there preventive plans that save me hundreds each year.My grandparents also go with threre 2 dogs for years and never had a issue.Yes they can be expensive but as you well know you get what you pay for. Chose this hospital due to having a Groupon for it. They were absolutely outstanding! All of the staff were very nice and understanding. I have a puppy and a 9 year old and I was just blown away with how welcoming and comforting they were to me and my babies. They even gave us a surprise gift on our first visit. If you have any doubts, go here! Oh and I loved the specific rooms for cats and dogs! My oldest doesn't like cats and would have went crazy if he had seen any!Read Less

I miss this place so much. I found my dog Lucy after she was tossed out by some a-hole when she was about 6 weeks old. I brought her to Shallowford Animal Hospital at the suggestion of a friend and was blown away. It's very clean, the staff is kind and accommodating, and they definitely take advantage of 21st century technology, with computer in the exam rooms and a very convenient monthly automated billing system. Their wellness packages are totally comprehensive and very reasonably priced, especially since it meant that all her preventative services were included and would be taken care of. Their staff at the front desk are amazing, by the way - they have listened to me freak out hysterically after my dog was injured and have gotten me last minute appointments on more than one occasion, plus they are great with email correspondence which is oftentimes a lot more convenient for me.I have seen both Dr. Mabe and Dr. Bearden and found them both to be incredibly attentive and patient, which is helpful when you have a 50lb spaz dog like mine. I have also brought dogs to them that I have fostered, and I have recommended them to all my friends, even the ones who don't have pets.Sadly I had to move away for grad school, and I suspect my standards may be set a little too high after this since I'm not sure another vet will live up to the experience I've had here.
