My Dachshund, Tootsie is 15 1/2 years old and has Cushing's Disease. I've had her since she was a tiny pup so she is my BABY. She suddenly started peeing blood and I was terrified it might be more than a UTI. My regular vet is closed on Sundays, so on their recommendation I took her into Family Pet Hospital right when they opened at 1pm today. They were GREAT!! They are a regular vet so they don't charge emergency vet prices. Dany, who talked to me on the phone before we arrived, was very comforting and informative. The vet tech, Ashley, was super informed and helpful. The Vet, Dr Blake, who examined Tootsie, was super friendly and informative, and put me at ease. After a urine culture and bladder ultrasound, we were out of there with antibiotics, and a daily ProBiotic powder for her bladder and immune system. It was very affordable. After visiting two other veterinarians in town I came here with a near emergency situation with my older dog. These guys got us in quickly on a Saturday without an appointment. The doctor was friendly and knowledgeable and knew exactly what was going on within minutes of seeing our old friend. The doctor prescribed medicine for our situation and did not try to sell us on additional tests of medication we did not need (unlike most vets I have been to). Friendly, caring and mindful of out pet's needs. These guys just won over a new customer. UPDATE: I personally want to thank all the staff. Last week we laid our friend Pepper to rest with their help. She had been with us 17 years and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Their staff were understanding, helpful, and caring through the entire process. When I went today to pick up her ashes, the young lady also gave me a small handmade ornament with Pepper's paw impression. This unexpected act of kindness brought me to tears (I am sorry I left so quickly but you really surprised me and I was a bit overwhelmed with emotion!) and reminded me of why we bring our family members here for their care. My husband and I wound up going here by pure luck when we adopted our dog, but so glad we did. The staff there is great at what they do and super caring. When we had to put our cat down they made us as comfortable with the situation as possible and even sent a nice condolence card after the fact. After Christmas was over that year they sent us an ornament that they had on the tree in their office for our cat. Took my dog in for her Rabies shot. I was told to bring her in and the vet would weigh her to see what she weighed and they could give her something to calm her for when she is groomed Monday. Told me there would be no charge just for the vet to look at her. I declined when they couldn't even give me a price what the pill would be to give her to calm her. I did get her rabies shot but I think I will just be going to my normal vet cause, they are much more helpful. Only reason came here to get her rabies was cause of the nasty weather and it was much closer then going cross town. I was very mislead over the phone yesterday. Then they started questioning me if she had all her other shots. I take care of my dogs as if they were my children. Only reason getting a 3 star is cause the staff is nice even though very misleading. But again I will be going back to my regular vet. Read Less

It's hard for me to believe that the overall rating is less than perfect. I looked a around and called multiple vets before making my choice and I must say I am extremely thankful I picked this place. I recently had my cat Hazel (Hazel Laser Eyes) fixed and chipped. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They took their time explaining everything to me and what to expect during recovery. I never felt rushed or like I was just another customer to them. Victoria and Jessica both were very friendly and professional they explained everything perfectly and made this much easier than I had anticipated. We have had our Sassy girl for 6 1/2 years now and have been using Family Pet for the last 5 of those. Last year we rescued a second dog and of course our entire world went nuts. The FPH staff were amazing with him, allowing us to bring him straight there on a Tuesday night (when they are open later) so he could get treated for Fleas, Ear Infections, Dewormed, as well as fixed. The staff were amazing and loved on our sweet boy constantly and updated us every time we would contact about him. Well, a month later our Sassy girl broke her tail and had to have it amputated and I was a WRECK!! The amazing ladies they have on staff there comforted me, allowed me to come by and visit with her after she woke up from surgery because they wanted to keep her overnight for observation, and assured me that everything was going to be okay. My cat had chronic diarrhea, after taking him to another vet and not finding a reason or solution I brought him here. They got me right in and sent me home with many medicines bound to find a solution to his problem. After my many calls and another visit he is now back to his normal self and I couldn't be more grateful. So many good things to say about Family Pet Hospital. I brought my English bulldog here for a c-section and the whole experience was delightful from the price to the medical care to the delivery of my dogs newborn. I called several places prior to her due date and they were the cheapest charging me $1100 including spay versus $2200 from other clinics. They also allowed us to keep her their while we were at work or busy. The next day my dogs stitches were bleeding heavily so I brought her in and they stalled her up and put a pressure wrap on her free of charge. the bleeding was due to the removal of so much scar tissue she had from previous c-sections. I chose Family Pet Hospital out of necessity due to my vet not being available for my big dog Gia. I was so impressed with the care and the staff that I have made them my vet permanently. We have been going there for some time now and my fur babies are never scared or upset to be there. My little dog, Eddie, is a very timid pup but he shows no fear with the staff there ever!! My dog is Very selective of who she will trust. At her previous vet clinic she was so scare and would be terrified going in. That's not the case at Family Pet. She absolutely adores the staff here.  I've even been able to board her a couple times and she does just fine.  The clinic is always clean and well maintained as well. Read Less

A couple months ago my dog Coco had some serious issues he had bladder stones and couldn't pee. I am not questioning the care Coco received but their customer service sucks. And when customer service sucks your whole experience is bad. What happen was I rushed Coco to the doctor and while my dog sat their suffering the vet kept talking money the same thing over and over it was like you better have the money or your dog will die. She spent at least 20 to 30 mins. talking about money before she would work on Coco. All she had to do was give an estiment and move on. I maxxed out my credits cards and used all my cash. Then one day I went in to buy some more prescription dog food for Coco and they had me on cash or credit card no checks. I will have you know I have never written a bad check to a vet nor am I on a list either. That ended our relationship then and there. As I went out the door I said I will not be treated like white trash. I had just spent almost 1100.00 on Coco. I will not recommend them to anyone you need trust on both sides. Read Less

I took my moms cat to their office to have him put to sleep due to lung cancer. After they gave him sedative shot, I was holding him until he fell asleep & saying my last goodbyes, unlike my dog I had to have put to sleep due to old age. He never closed his eyes. He was just limp, he started to throw up, & the vet assistant jerked him up like a rag doll held him over the sink & after specifically telling her I didn't want to see the process & what the animals go through, I saw that & then she turned him around & asked if I wanted to see him before they gave him the actual shot & his eyes were wide open & he had throw up hanging from his mouth. Not how I want to remember my pet of 15yrs. after seeing all that. I then had to pay, just wanted to get out of there I left afterwards. I called went back up there the next day after I had had time to regroup & asked for the owner. The woman at the desk said she was desk manager or something like that & told me the owners weren't there. So I told her about my experience. This vet was GREAT! Stacey went out of her way to make numerous phone calls to contact previous vets to ensure she had updated vaccination info for my dog. Dr. Bendorf came in, shook my hand, introduced herself, and was amazing with my dog- you could see she really loves dogs- both her and the staff were covered in slober and fur from my dog and they were delighted.
