Love Dr. Drennan! Earlier this year I had given my dogs rawhide to chew on not knowing how terrible it is for dogs. Woke up the next morning with one of my babies not looking well at all! The vet I had originally been taking them too couldn't see him until later in the day and I could NOT wait that long. I called Drennan Animal Hospital and was able to come almost immediately. He seemed very knowledgeable and explained every little detail to me which I loved, helps me know exactly what's going on. We ended up finding out that he had swallowed huge chunks of rawhide which caused a blockage in his stomach. Dr. Drennan saved my baby's life and I'm forever grateful. He kept me updated the whole time, after surgery and his recovery as well. After all was well I took all three of my dogs to see him to get their vaccines up to date and again he was very knowledgeable, super friendly and lovable towards my dogs, even my pitt unlike some vets have been in the past. RUN SUPER FAST FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Dropped our LABRADOODLE off to get his shots. Upon our return later that evening we were told that he was startled by a car and twisted his foot as they were walking him. Four days later my dog could not move. Brought him back. They suggested that there was nothing that they could do for him ( DR. HUNT) She suggested putting him down, which we did but his eyes were still moving. Dr. Hunt stated that for some dogs it takes longer and told us that we should just go on and leave. Now I'm learning that he may have had an allergic reaction to the shot and could have EASILY been helped. Did they simply give him a sedative to put him to sleep? Did they actually rip us off for our dog for herself? This was our first time losing a dog. WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. It was at end of the day and she didn't offer any other alternative or solution. The breeder said that she should've offered to do an autopsy to find out what actually happened. She didn't offer this service to us. So now my son is wondering did they actually steal our dog for themselves, after all we paid $3000 for Oakley. All of this took place on my son's 14th birthday. WHAT A GREAT BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!! So if you see anyone from this office with a Labradoodle at their home it's probably ours. This will haunt us for years to come!! One of the best vets I've been to in a long time. Compassionate and caring yet pragmatic and willing to give an honest no nonsense assessment. My cat had cancer that was not curable and though I could have paid for surgery and bought a little more time. It would have been to my cats expense. The cancer was aggressive and very likely to come back. It was not fair for her to endure the pain of surgery and recovery just to maybe get a few months only to be back where she started. As it stood Dr. Drennen was direct and honest with me while being very compassionate to me and my cat. In the end I took here home as is and got a couple months with her and she got to pass not having suffered all that medical work. I've read some of these reviews and I think maybe some people have issues with a doctor that's willing to be direct and give an honest assessment. Even if it's bad news. Some reviews about him liking money over animals also seem skewed as Dr. Drennen was honest with me that surgery was likely to only buy a little time,  put her through pain, and in the end only make her suffer. That's a hard honest truth to tell someone, but he did it with compassion. So trust me he's not in it for the money otherwise he would have pushed for surgery. We have been using Drennan Animal Hospital now for 6 years and have never had any issues. We have a 5lb Maltese that sees Dr. Hunt for her yearly physical and any illness that may occur. We have never had a complaint! Our puppy is never sore after her shots and is never afraid of going to the vet! So rare!! We even have her nails trimmed here very often for only $10! Recently went with a sick dog to see Dr. Drennan. This wasn't the dogs usual vet but the closest one available.  The doctor was very quick to say the dog needed to be put to sleep but generally seemed to lack confidence and didn't seem to know for certain what he was talking about. When someone who seems unsure says to put a dog to sleep, that's a major concern. The dog received treatment at this facility and the end bill was terribly nickel and dimed. Low grade vet service, dog in crisis needing to be put down and this vet nickel and dimed us!! It did not seem he had a passion for animals, but rather a passion for making money. I will never give this place my business. I also will recommend others steer clear. I wouldn't trust this doc with my pet or my money. Read Less

HIGHLY UNETHICAL business practices. Dr Drennan would not cooperate with getting my mother's dog medicine after she moved states away. She had the dog examined and then needed to get the specific kind of heart worm medication for this region. He refused to authorize the fax sent. He would only mail the prescription. The dog then had to go without due to this. To force the issue of wanting people to buy from HIM - he wouldn't cooperate. We are over 1000 miles away. HIGHLY UNETHICAL business practice. I really cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Drennan and his staff!  My beloved dog Laila has been seeing Dr. Drennan for a few years and he has always been wonderful, but it was how he handled my dog's recent dental cleaning that prompted me to write a glowing review.  My dog is older (11) and had a bad reaction to anesthesia the one time she had been put under before.  Because of this, I put off having her teeth cleaned (and she needed a few extracted) for far too long.  When I finally decided to go through with it, I was a nervous wreck!  Dr. Drennan was so incredibly patient with me and my neuroses - after I dropped Laila off he called me not once, but twice to talk me through his anesthesia and sedation plan.  Because she'd had a bad reaction before, he decided to modify the anesthesia protocol for her so he could better control her doses of the various medications.  He spend a good half hour that morning on the phone with me between the two calls, just reassuring me and making sure I felt totally informed.  Shortly after he got done with her surgery, he was back on the phone with me letting me know that everything went great and that she was waking up just fine.  He also did a beautiful job on the dental cleaning/extraction itself - Laila's teeth look good as new, and Dr. Drennan even saved the teeth he extracted to show me exactly why he removed them so I could see what I was paying for.  Dr. Drennan is great not only because of his exceptional skill in animal medicine in dealing with animals, but also because of his great skill in handling their people.  He seems to know that a big part of being a good vet is actually having good people skills!  It is so wonderful to interact with a vet who makes time to really sit and patiently talk with owners so that they understand what is going on and feel comfortable.  The best testimony I can probably give to this practice: I live in Nashville and drive all the way to Memphis (where I am originally from) to take my pets there!  I have met the other vet there as well, Dr. Hunt, and she is also wonderful.  If you live in the area (or not!) do your pets and yourself a favor and take them to Drennan Animal Hospital!
