I have been a patient of Dr Bowling for 15+ years and when she joined Mckays Mill Animal Hospital I followed her. I have seen all the Dr’s in the practice and love them all! My animals are like children, my kids even call them brother and sister!! I trust that they will do everything possible to help my babies. I never feel like just a number or that they just want my money, they truly love my pets. The front office staff and vet techs are all amazing, friendly and loving also. Great team of people who go out of their way to care for you pet. Doctors and staff are friendly, and make you feel welcome. Doctors are great and provide lots of details about issues for your pet. They are also flexible in accommodations. My dog was suffering from an issues that needed immediate care and I was able to quickly see a dr and get him diagnosed. Then I brought him back in a few days later with additional symptoms and they looked at him again quickly and kept him two night. Prices for care are also reasonable. I never feel like my feeling and love for my pet are being taken advantage of with a price. Read Less

I have a pet rabbit, which is considered an exotic pet, so she has to go to a specific type of vet. I called multiple vet offices in Davidson and Williamson counties, trying to find an exotic vet with reasonable prices. McKay's Mill Animal Hospital was the end of my search because they do have reasonable prices, but they are also great in general! They treat me with kindness and respect, and they also are great to my rabbit! They send pictures and updates when something significant is happening, which I really appreciate! Read Less

Tried bringing my newly acquired rescue kid in since she has had diarrhea for the last 4 days. I looked in her records and she was diagnosed with Ehrclida so I became very concerned. If it goes too long it can be fatal. I asked if I could post date a check for Friday which is pay day and at first they said yes. I was glad they put animal well being ahead of anything else. Well they called back and said no...payment at time of service. Disgusting. They would have to wait only 2 days and possibly save my dog. I guess money means more to them than animals. Read Less

We have a 13 year old Yorkie.  His name is Jazzy.  Not that well bred as Yorkies go, but he is precious to this family.  We wouldn't trust him to anyone else.  In this clinic, from Dr. Bowling and beyond, we know that we have the best possible care for him. I do not believe there are enough accolades in the English language to express our LOVE for McKays Mill Animal hospital. When we first got our puppy in February of this year we went to another vet after reading multiple reviews on several sites... That vet sucked.  We were then referred to McKay's.  All 3 of the doctors are amazing, the entire staff from the front desk to the vet techs, to the groomer are amazing.  Moo (our 10 month old Shih-Poo) gets SO excited to go see her friends at McKays, whether it's to get groomed, or if its because my husband is on a conference call and she gets into dark chocolate.  The staff always texts pictures and I always know that our little furball princess is in the best hands.  We are getting ready to move to the opposite side of the city, but we will NOT be changing our veterinary care for our dog, and our future dogs!! I switched to this vet about 7 months ago after being very loyal to my previous vet for 13 years. I cannot say enough positive things about the doctors and staff here! They always go above and beyond for your pets.  They and are SO wonderful to work with and I would recommend them all day long to those looking for a new vet for your fur babies Read Less

Staff is very kind, but took forever for us to even be asked to come in back for our appointment (we were the only ones there) We had two dogs with us, and we're not offered any type of help while we waited. The associates upfront seem to ignore us the entire time while they were on their phones or playing with their own dogs. Read Less

I haven't personally taken my pets to this vet, but I did pick up someone else's pet from here.  I just have to say that the animal hospital was very clean and welcoming.  The staff were friendly and caring towards the animals.  I was impressed with their late hours and the parking was easy and abundant.  My only surprise was that the bills were a bit high, not high for the Franklin/ Brentwood area, but overall, it was.  I think boarding is $25/ day which adds up quick if you have multiple pets and are doing more than a week at a time.  And I guess, its ok if its just one pet for 3-4 days, but boy can it add up quick.  And for a simple skin infection, they do choose the more expensive meds when there are other choices just as effective but much, much cheaper.  In all fairness to the business, it is an animal hospital as opposed to a vet's office, so I guess a higher rate should be expected and if money isn't an issue, you would know that they are gonna take great care of your pets. They've always been compassionate, patient, and great about explaining what's going on, while listening to our concerns. We were referred to Dr. Bowling, who is awesome, but Dr. Merrell and Dr. Moore are exceptional as well. Our family has "frequent flyer miles" with McKay's Mill Animal Hospital, and everyone there has been absolutely wonderful in the 6 or so years we've been taking our 3 dogs and 3 cats to them for care and boarding. When we had to say goodbye to our 18 year old cat recently (RIP, Buddy!), we were very moved by the genuine compassion and warmth shown to Buddy and to us. Dr. Merrell and the staff have always provided loving and informed care of our Bichon "Bijou". With their assistance in recent years he lived to be almost 15 yrs. old before passing last month. Dr. Kimberley Merrell has to be the most compassionate, Kind, knowledgeable and best animal Dr in the country. The ENTIRE staff is so caring and nice and have given me and my sisters animals the best care they ever received. When we had to put my cat down, we received a card signed by every single employee with a note from each to say how sorry they were my cat died.
