I brought in my very sick kitty, in a panic. My cat was seen very quickly and they diagnosed her as having an upper respiratory infection and a UTI. They gave her an antibiotic shot and told me to follow up with her vet. They did not do any unnecessary tests and were very professional and compassionate. When I arrived home with my kitty, she sipped water and is now eating food. She had not had any interest in eating in about 3 days. I paid less then I would have at a non-emergency vet, and my kitty is feeling better! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!! Read Less

If I could post a zero rating, I would. I wanted to share this with everyone in our local area so that if anyone else should ever have an emergency with their pet - be it injury, illness, or, as in our case this morning, euthanasia - that they should NEVER take their beloved animal to NASHVILLE PET EMERGENCY CLINIC at Rivergate. The way we were treated this morning was appalling, disgusting, and unforgivable. I feel it my responsibility to put out the word about these people. We walked in at 3 a.m. with our precious giant kitty boy, who had been showing signs of significant illness for a few months, but especially so in the past few weeks. We had taken him to our local vet in Lebanon a month ago when the symptoms got bad, and they ran a full battery of tests. All labs came back normal, but his symptoms continued and he was showing definite signs of deterioration. We live with him day in and day out, hour by hour - have done since we adopted him at 8 weeks of age with his sister 14 years ago - and we know what his "normal" is. And he was suffering terribly last night when we made the decision to go. 9 years ago, when his sister died, she had had the same lab results and yet was slowly dying from intestinal cancer. It doesn't show up on routine lab work. Our boy was having identical symptoms for weeks now. Anyway, this morning, because he was not a shriveled bag of bones and "looked healthy," we were immediately judged, juried, and executed for bringing in a "healthy cat." We were also chastised three different times by the vet for his being "so very overweight." They even accused us of "wanting to get rid of him" because he was old and inconvenient. They didn't know us, they didn't know him, and they had no right whatsoever to make this assessment in a few minutes' time. We had requested that he be brought into the room with us when they euthanized him because we wanted to be with him during his final moments and didn't want him to be among strangers. They took him away to some back room to which we had no access when we first brought him in, and they finally brought him back in to the room where we had been waiting for an hour as they repeatedly interrogated us and attempted to shame us. He was so dehydrated from the constant severe diarrhea he had been experiencing that his veins had collapsed, and they kept poking him and jabbing him until they could shove a port into one to administer the sedative and ultimately the euthanasia drug. By the time all was said and done, we were both destroyed mentally, traumatized, and were complete basket cases. We had intended to have him cremated, but there was no way on earth we were leaving his body there with those heartless people, so we brought home his body and buried him under a beautiful Bradford pear tree in our back yard. We will never forget what happened there today, and we have since spoken with 3 other people who had horrible experiences there as well. Never again. Be forewarned. Please do not take your furry family members to this sad excuse for a pet clinic. Again - NASHVILLE PET EMERGENCY CLINIC AT RIVERGATE. Thank you. Read Less

Our 6 month old lab mix got hit by a truck last night. We live way out in the country in Kentucky, and we're lucky to see three vehicles a day on our road, but I'll be dog gone if one didn't run over him.  We're 35-40 minutes from Rivergate but had to get Willie somewhere fast (no emergency/after hours vets closer could be reached). They were very compassionate, completely upfront about the costs, and they got him back and on pain meds immediately. Dr. French was fantastic and explained everything very clearly and even called me later with results from blood work and X-rays. Willie was stable, but they kept him overnight to be sure no other injuries surfaced. We were so lucky our big guy's injuries weren't worse. The only complaint I have is the cost. It was around $1100, but they've kind of got you between a rock and a hard place there. Thank you Dr. French and staff for taking such good care of our pup. Read Less

My dog is dead! And was dying within 2 hours of picking her up from this place. This is the second animal I've taken here for emergency treatment and the overnight crew didn't do their jobs. 2 dead dogs is too many! My lab was severely impacted and couldn't poop. Xrays showed no tears or punctures from all the impaction. Even though she was terribly miserable, she didn't want me to leave her. Dr. Reed had to manually remove as much fecal matter as possible after administering an enema. At shift change, the overnight doctor was Dr. Kirk. When I got there to pick D-Day up at 6:30 in the morning, Dr. Kirk specifically told me the pain medicine began wearing off at 5am and she started to get uncomfortable. He said she tried to poop 3 times and couldn't. Then he told me she needs another enema but that he didn't want to do it! He told me to take her to my vet and have them do it. When he brought her out, she wanted nothing to do with me which was BEYOND WEIRD. All she wanted was to go outside and use the bathroom. She was more miserable than when I took her to this place. I got her home, and again, all she did was strain to use the bathroom. I went in the house and when I came out 30 minutes later to take her to my vet, she was bleeding from her mouth. After driving like a crazy person to the vet, we had to wait about 5 minutes for them to open. D-Day was bleeding profusely, and the blood was coming up from her stomach. The back of my car looked like a crime scene with all the blood everywhere. My vet didn't have any staff in the office at the time so she couldn't do emergency surgery, and made the determination that D-Day wouldn't make it to another emergency clinic due to the amount of blood she had already lost and was continuing to lose. I had no choice but to put her down. Rivergate pet emergency clinic Dr. Kirk knew what my dog needed and chose to not do it. He saw that she still couldn't use the bathroom and was in pain. $1400 later, my beloved D-Day is dead. Paula Milligan Read Less

Although my cat died in my arms right before we walked in. I did not like the fact that we had to wait 2 minutes to be buzzed in. Other than that the staff was great .
