If I can rate them in the negatives I would. Honestly, this place should be shut down. A few weeks ago I brought my cat in and told them my he was licking cement and was concerned that he may have a kidney stone. The doctor looked him over and told me that I should get him dewormed. A few weeks later my cat died in a puddle of his pee. Please save your animals and look elsewhere.

We have been customers for years and that is why it is truly unfortunate to have to leave this review. I have attempted to resolve this matter with the office manager, but she is very rude. She also happens to be the mother of one of the veterinarians and I was not allowed to speak with him.
Our dog needed his shots updated prior to boarding him for an upcoming vacation, I called and spoke with a male tech on the phone. He quoted me $60 for the shots and made an appointment for that afternoon to have the shots. I was at work and instructed my teenage daughter to take our dog to have the shots administered.
She told them to do whatever “my mom said”. To my surprise they charged for a $14 nail clipping that I never consented to. No big deal-Right? Apparently it was a BIG DEAL. So when I called the next day and told the office manager to refund the $14 she stated in so many words that she was not going to and that they had performed the services. I stated you were not authorized and to refund the money. She refused.
We refuted this FRAUD with our bank and my daughter did receive her hard earned $14 put back into her account immediately. So if this happens to you- your bank can hopefully do the same!!!
$14 and you lose a long term customer. I hope the veterinarians will read this- since I am not able to speak with them. This office manager(mom) will ruin your business!!!

The Doctors and staff are completely unrivaled.
I've been bringing my pets and my families pets to New Shackle Island Vet since 2010, and unless they aren't open in case of an emergency, I would never take my pets anywhere else.
Both Dr. Koelling and Dr. Layne are incredible. Knowledgeable, hospitable, and you can tell they both really love animals.
The staff are compassionate, caring, and seem to fall in love with every animal that walks through the door.
Thank you all for your continued amazing service through the years.
The absolute best vet practice ever.

New Shackle Island Vet Hospital, I was able to get in the day I called. I had a sick cat and couldn't get into my (prior) regular vet's office soon enough. I appreciated being worked in on the same day I called. The reason I called this vet's office is I had asked a lot of people who they recommended and this one kept getting mentioned with glowing reviews. Over and over and OVER. Now I understand why. The staff is very friendly and professional and caring. I had to leave my cat there for treatment and while the doctor tested my cat was kind and I could tell, very competent, he was also truthful in a very kind way explaining to me what was happening and what to expect. He explained everything to my satisfaction and did not rush me. He was gentle with my sick kitty and gave me examples of how well things could go but also explained that sometimes these things just don't work out. This message was delivered in a way that made me feel comfortable and I knew that if my kitty could be saved, this would be where it would happen. The pricing is extremely reasonable and while I have been to many veterinarians in my life, I have to say that there has NEVER been a clinic like this one. I see now why everyone who takes their pets here love it. I am a client for life and I will NEVER leave these wonderful caring people. I just thank God I found them.

I would recommend this vet to anyone! The staff and doctors are so incredibly kind. We unfortunately had to put our dog down and I was crying the whole time. The vet came in and help us feel confident in our decision and was so kind to our sweet girl. We stayed in there while they gave her the first shot to put her to sleep and the vet let us stay in there for a long time saying our goodbyes. When we left so they could give her the second shot the vet told us not to worry and she would take wonderful care of our sweet girl. When they brought her out to us the vet tech gave me a hug and conforted me while I bawled. If their kindness there wasn't enough, today I received a letter in the mail signed by all of them saying they were sorry for our loss. If you want a vet who truly cares then go here!

Would not recommend to anyone not only did I wait forever for the doctor to finally come in the room when I had an appointment and didn't even apologize for the wait but also they had my dogs name in the system wrong his gender was wrong in the system and they were calling my mother about my dog and his shots when she never had anything to do with it. And to top it off doctor was questioning me about my dogs name and why I would name him that... very unhappy.

I highly recommend this vet. I've never been more pleased. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't have to wait long to get into a room or for the doctor. We were in and out in less than an hour. One of the things I love most is that they don't push products on you that you don't need, I always had that problem with other vets. They are also very knowledgable and able to answer all questions.

I'd like to thank them for being very kind to our pets. They cared for all of our pets. The care was, well I can only say "incredible." Our oldest was 19 and I had a very hard time at the end. They were extremely kind and caring at that time. Our youngest Chihuahua is getting old too. I view the care as the reason they live so long. (for dog's) The youngest has not been a healthy as the first was. But if she does get sick, they've always fixed her up with great care, and "patience with me." They've done followup calls and followup checkups. I can't say enough good about them. I trust them and appreciate all they do for us "and the children." :)

Vet is good at giving shots and cutting hair, but they are only out for a quick an easy paycheck. all four animals that I brought to new shackle died a day later give or take because of their poor practice. one dog a week prior they told us she was in good health, the next week we had to put her down. we brought a cat up their because he wasn't eating or drinking and the pumped him with a fluid that paralyzed him and he died the next day. next we brought our dog which had been attack by another dog, and during the operation she died, not entirely their fault, and last we brought our cat who suddenly fell ill and could not walk up there to be put down, they left us in the waiting room while the cat was dying for an hour and took four people ahead of us for shots, after the fourth person we left and one minute later she died. when i call to talk to the vet about it they turned it on me and said i was a bad owner, needless to say i burnt the bring, had my files transferred to another vet and was hung up on. DO NOT GO TO NEW SHACKLE VET, BAD WITH ANIMALS!!!

I witnessed a black lab hit by a truck. They brought him to this establishment as nobody in the neighborhood seemed to know who he belonged to. I am an animal person and wanted to help this poor dog since he was in fact going to survive. I told the staff that I was willing to contribute money towards his recovery. Dr. Koehler started talking to me in a condescending way, and I didn't understand why since I was only there to help. He then told me that some people come in "portraying" themselves as good Samaritans to get a deal on the bill or to find out how much the bill will cost. I told him that I was insulted by that, we can't take in any more animals, and that his demeanor will stop any other kind-hearted people from coming forward. I received no apology. I am disheartened by this whole situation.

I can not say enough good about this doctor and their staff. I had a daschund for 14 years that I had to make the hard decision that he needed to be at peace and out of pain. He could not eat or walk and after sleeping on the kitchen floor with him all night I called his doctor and they helped me through it. Not only were they kind, understanding, and very caring the next day when I got home from work I received a card in the mail that the entire staff signed. They have been my animals doctor since I moved from NY and they always will be. Thank you to the dr and staff and I highly recommend them to anyone.

After a horrible first experiance with my 2 month old yorkie I took my Yorkie to Dr Layne and Dr K they were awesome they explained everything to me and went out of there way to find out why my little girl was not feeling so well. They even sent me a card welcoming me to there practice Hand signed by each member of there staff! Then I found a little stray kitty.........He was so very very sick and it broke my heart So I took him to see dr Layne......... after a wide range of options and some testing it appeared that our kitty was very very sick with a heart problem... He game him some medicine and told us exactly what to expect and all though in the end we could not save little Fluffy we made him as happy and comfortable as possible in his last 2 weeks with us... I called to notify Dr Layne of his passing and they were awesome! then a few days later in the mail I receive a card of sympathy for the passing of our pet again signed by every member of here staff. I cant say enough about this practice.. They are all soo super nice... they have to have the CLEANEST! office i have ever seen! and there prices are great! Thanks Dr layne and Dr K for taking such great care of our Four legged friends!

This Vet was so eager to assist me with an injured stray a few months ago. I had found a small Yorkie in need of medical attention and this clinic as busy as they were made the time to help him. After my first attempt at my own Vet down the road (no one was willing to attend to the poor animal) I shot down the street to this Vet desperate to get help to this little Yorkie. After a bath and a trim, with a few antibiotics I was able to nurse this little dog and find him a proper owner. They really were 'Good Samaritans'!

We have been customers for years and that is why it is truly unfortunate to have to leave this review. I have attempted to resolve this matter with the office manager, but she is very rude. She also happens to be the mother of one of the veterinarians and I was not allowed to speak with him.

The Doctors and staff are completely unrivaled.
I've been bringing my pets and my families pets to New Shackle Island Vet since 2010, and unless they aren't open in case of an emergency, I would never take my pets anywhere else.
Both Dr. Koelling and Dr. Layne are incredible. Knowledgeable, hospitable, and you can tell they both really love animals.
The staff are compassionate, caring, and seem to fall in love with every animal that walks through the door.

I would recommend this vet to anyone! The staff and doctors are so incredibly kind. We unfortunately had to put our dog down and I was crying the whole time. The vet came in and help us feel confident in our decision and was so kind to our sweet girl. Would not recommend to anyone not only did I wait forever for the doctor to finally come in the room when I had an appointment and didn't even apologize for the wait but also they had my dogs name in the system wrong his gender was wrong in the system and they were calling my mother about my dog and his shots when she never had anything to do with it. And to top it off doctor was questioning me about my dogs name and why I would name him that... very unhappy.

I highly recommend this vet. I've never been more pleased. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't have to wait long to get into a room or for the doctor. We were in and out in less than an hour. One of the things I love most is that they don't push products on you that you don't need, I always had that problem with other vets. They are also very knowledgable and able to answer all questions.

I'd like to thank them for being very kind to our pets. They cared for all of our pets. The care was, well I can only say "incredible." Our oldest was 19 and I had a very hard time at the end. They were extremely kind and caring at that time. Our youngest Chihuahua is getting old too. I view the care as the reason they live so long. I can not say enough good about this doctor and their staff. I had a daschund for 14 years that I had to make the hard decision that he needed to be at peace and out of pain. This Vet was so eager to assist me with an injured stray a few months ago. I had found a small Yorkie in need of medical attention and this clinic as busy as they were made the time to help him. After my first attempt at my own Vet down the road (no one was willing to attend to the poor animal) I shot down the street to this Vet desperate to get help to this little Yorkie. After a bath and a trim, with a few antibiotics I was able to nurse this little dog and find him a proper owner. They really were 'Good Samaritans'!
