WORTH READING BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE. Never have I ever had such a worse experience in my dogs 14 years. Not sure how this clinic got almost 5 🌟! Took my 14 year old dog Precious in because I thought she had reoccurring bronchitis which she has previously had several times with the same symptoms. Dr. Fenwick didn't seem very interested in listening at all. He & the staff were non-compassionate & caring throughout the visit. One visit is all it took to know he could care less about my dog. He had several snide remarks to make as well. Such as "your dog is 14 years old" (to me that was your dog is just old nothing I can do is how it came across)  and "you don't have to carry her she walked back here". She could barely stand & had several falls prior. I love my dog & will carry her if I feel she isn't steady. Previous vets haven't even done an X-Ray, just got lab work & she has got well again. They did an X-ray 1st in which he didn't tell me the results I had to ask. She didn't have bronchitis or pneumonia. He gave me a broncho dialtor & checked her electrolytes saying she may be having an adesionan crisis which she hasn't had since her diagnosis in 2013 when we found out she had it. If I wouldn't have been so considered about my girl I would have been able to think more clearly about what was going on. At this point he was trying to find something to make more money. Her electrolytes were good but he never did do a CBC or any other lab work. That would've told us if she was fighting an infection or something else was going on. Labs should have been checked 1st just as they do to humans before an x-ray which is sometimes unnecessary radiation. Never did I get a call from this office checking up on her.  She got worse after visiting so I then tried to get the same antibiotics she was on last time, that got her well again. When I tried to reach out to Dr. Fenwick he gave me the run around making it difficult to get her meds. I usually go through pet care rx because they have reasonable prices. His office tried to charge me $90, using pet care rx I could save $50 on the same meds. After 3 visits to his office in one day I finally got the meds. Which that's all I was asking for to see if she would improve since it worked last time. He tried to up the milligrams & give her hydrocodone making it more expensive for me. Also unsafe for my dog who is older! After talking to him he mentioned that he saw this review. I then knew he was deliberately trying to make it hard on me because of this review which I am editing to add on to the horrible experience. Meanwhile my dog is NOT getting any better.  He didn't do the exam in front of my mother & I so who is to say he ever did it. The reason I say this is because when I took her to the emergency vet 2 1/2 weeks later they told me they felt fluid build up & said she could have a heart murmur just with the physical being done! The next morning when going to another vet she stated the same thing. If he truly did the physical exam we would have found this out from the get go. I know the fluid build up didn't happen after the visit. Because the reason I took her in was for breathing difficulty & wheezing. The other two vets were so compassionate & caring. Also both visits were equal to what I spent with one visit here! Being in the medical field I know what it is like to be compassionate & listen to your patients. Dr. Mike Fenwick did NOT efficiently or truthfully do his job. My heart goes out to those who trust him with their animals. I can't fathom how people that are this way lay their head down at night with no conscience of others! He was a waste of time, money & didn't help my dog child. With all this being said he is one of the older vets we have seen so I would assume he would have been pretty knowledgeable about animals. Sometimes people do things for the money not the benefit to help others! The report was a lie saying clear lung sounds! You could clearly w/o a stethoscope yoh could hear it! My heart is sadden with the lack of empathy we experienced here! Won't be back! Read Less

Dr. Fenwick exhibited unprofessional behavior when he humiliated my partner in front of his staff and other patients. She had asked what she was being charged for after having already paid that morning for our pet's visit. She had not been quoted fees prior to treating our pet. Communication regarding fees and regarding certain aspects of treatment is poor at best. Dr. Burch has also been insulting in the past. I would not recommend this office. We have found another veterinarian which we are pleased with. I have 30 plus years in health care. It is NEVER okay to treat a patient that way under ANY circumstances! This review is for Hermitage animal clinic, not just this doctor. If you plan on bringing your pets here plan on spending a lot of money.  It seems that this place cares more about making money than they do about treating your pet.  I have a lab with allergies, and I understand that allergy testing is expensive ($600).  I was fine with that.  The issue is that until his new medicine kicks in (which can take up to a year) he needs to get cortizone shots every other month to help with itching.  He has been in the office every other month for this, so when i made the last appointment i didn't think i needed to specify that he DOES NOT need an exam, just the shot like before, yet when I went to pay the bill it was $63, not the $25 i thought i was going to have to pay.  they told me that it was my fault for not saying which dr i normally go to; i was wrong to assume they looked at their records prior to making my appointment.  this has happened a few times now and i've learned my lesson but i am still pretty ticked about it.  i bring my other pets, and this pet for annual shots, to Value Vet. Read Less

From the minute I walk in the door until I leave I feel comfortable and confident that my children will be taken care of. Six years ago this clinic saved my Zach's life. Been a customer for 9 years. Called to make an appointment for a surgery. The new receptionist was clueless. Got off the phone feeling like something wasn't right. Started asking questions to friends who go here. Found out Fenwick sold out to some corporate entity from the upper northeast who is buying up other vet businesses up and down the east coast. We don't need another "Banfield". Looks like we're looking for another place. Read Less

If you're a professional, act like it! Read Less
