Took my senior dog to Lebanon Road Animal Hospital for the first time today. The staff were friendly, efficient, and so wonderful with her. Dr. Cleveland took plenty of time to do a thorough exam and answer my thousand questions.The fees were more than reasonable and they were understanding about my financial limitations when it came to what needed to be done now and what we could do down the road. My happy healthy silky terrier went in for a routine dental cleaning and came back an injured limping whimpering mess. She has had plenty of dental cleanings and has always come out just fine. Dr. Wyatt refuses to provide any information as to what occurred during her cleaning to explain why she is limping so badly that she sometimes cries out loud while resting. He even said he was offended that I thought he did anything wrong. How does he explain that in one day under his care a healthy active dog became injured to the point that she rarely wants to go outside at all? He doesn't. His ego seems to count more than the health of his patients. It has been approximately 2 months since this cleaning took place and her condition has not improved. She has been taken to another vet, but they can't undo the damage that Dr. Wyatt Cleveland has already done. This used to be an excellent clinic, when Dr. Kay and her team were at the helm. Dr. Kay did a dental cleaning on this same dog and when we picked her up she was bright eyed and running around just hours after the procedure. Sadly, this was not what happened when Dr. Cleveland did the same procedure with the same pre- procedure testing. Dr. Wyatt Cleveland is simply a terrible veterinarian with no animal or people skills. Lastly, take note of reviewer S. Cleveland- sounds like that may be a relative giving a fake 5 star review. IDK about that, but I do know that there are plenty of better veterinarians in the area and I highly recommend that Dr. Cleveland be avoided. Read Less

This was our first time and from the first communication to receiving a sweet video after her surgery made me feel so at ease. Pricing was in line with others I've dealt with. Fiona, I seriously doubt your Vet just gave you the heartworm prevention. They had to test your dog before putting him on the prevention! What did you expect? A free exam and only pay for the certificate? You are one of those people that want things for free. You could kill your dog by giving him the prevention of he had heartworms and then you would cry and blame the Vet. Read Less

Our 16 1/2 year old dog Maxx started having serious health issues Monday (Dec. 26th). We had just moved to Hermitage and didn't have a vet relationship yet. I called mid morning and got an appointment for 1400 that afternoon. We took Maxx in and he had to be put to sleep. I know it must have been difficult for Dr. Cleveland to have to give us the news when he had just met us and Maxx. Everyone was very gracious and handled the situation with care. Coming from NYC to Hermitage, TN, I was surprised that I was charged more than double what I pay in NY for a simple check-up and a printed airline health cert. I was also surprised that it took over an hour for this service. I wouldn't be complaining if the actual time the vet spent "examining" my dog was more than four minutes but he didn't even check his temperature, just sort of manhandled him a bit and listened to his heartbeat. He asked a couple questions about him but we had already sent over all his health/vaccination records from NY so he actually had everything he needed. I was charged two separate charges, one for the examination and one for the cert/letter, all of which added up to more than double what my NYC vet charges for the same thing. The vet did mention to me that we should start giving the dog monthly heart worm prevention meds and told me the girl at the desk would talk to me about that, which she didn't. I then tried to purchase these meds online but needed to provide the vets info to verify it was ok for my dog to take them. I got an email back from the vendor telling me the vet had declined to verify my request - guess he needed to charge me a little more for that service too. Thankfully when we flew back to NY last week, my old vet happily obliged with the heart worm meds and we happily paid a reasonable price for the health cert to fly back to Nashville. Read Less

I can't speak highly enough about Lebanon Road Animal Hospital, though I'll do my best.The kindness of the vets and vet technicians is unparalleled throughout a pet's life. Dr. Kay came to my family's home to put our dog to sleep, and she was so caring and considerate to do this for us. We sat outside with him in his favorite spot, and she was patient with us and so complimentary of him, saying what a good dog he was and how much she'd enjoyed getting to know him over the years. Our pets are our family members, and you can never hear too often how highly someone else thinks of your dog, too.For my current dog, I'm easily able to book appointments (typically within the same week) and see either Dr. Kay or a technician, depending on my dog's needs. They're so sweet with him during exams, getting him to do tricks in exchange for treats, and they spend as much time with me as I need to ask questions. I never feel rushed into leaving out my concerns, nor am I made to feel I ask silly questions. They make me feel proud of my dog's health and abilities. They recommend alternate forms of treatment if a medication or behavior isn't going as hoped, as well as more economic ways to treat my dog for fleas and tics. I appreciate that both quality care and financial concerns go into their decisions tailored for each client.I'm so happy to take my dog here, and it'll be my veterinary choice for as long as I live in the area. Worst vet ever and overpriced. Worst treatment of my my small dog for something minor and ended up being something major but they still felt free to build me over $400 after it was their mistake that they nicked my dog's vulva. They had to take her to the vet everyday from my apartment because they were responsible but they weren't going to refund me the money for anything. Worst experience dealing with a veterinarian in my 30 years of having animals. Read Less

Terrible vet charged 300 dollars to spay my dog and used dirty tools and my dogs wound got infected because of their poor job and then they charged me for the antibiotics from their mistake and on top of that Dr. K didn't even do the surgery one of her interns did terrible vet ! Read Less

My entire family has been seeing Dr. Kay for so many years. At least a decade! They've seen our cats and dogs and they treat our pets with great care. I've been living a half hour from this location for the past two years and still will make the trip with my 3 cats just because I love this place so much. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it's nice when they remember your pets. They have a Facebook, send emails and mail you ID cards for your pets. I love the ID cards. I know they will come in handy if a pet ever gets lost.I highly recommend this vet office. The staff is wonderful and you can tell they love animals. Read Less

I've been taking my dog and cats to Dr. Kay Baker for 6 years. I have never met a more kind, caring veteranarian who truly takes the time to get to know you and your pet the way she and her staff does. This past year when my 6 yr old dog started acting not herself, Dr. Kay did everything she could to find out what was going on with her, by running test after test until we found out she had a rare heart condition that required meds. She is now back to her frisky, happy self, and I am forever grateful. I recommended her to a good friend who has a very skittish, rescued dog who is wary of strangers. Dr. Kay and her staff actually sat down on the floor with her dog for 30 min. just so she would feel comfortable with her to relieve her fear of being there! My friend then told me how Dr. Kay spend another 20 extra min. just talking with her and spending time answering her questions. She is now a client for life too, and also said her prices were less than the vet down the street she had been going to as well! My friend also went to the ""budget vet"" across the street from Dr. Kay who may be cheaper, but you never see the same person, and it's like a ""drive-thru pet vet"" -so that is never good if you don't have the same person who gets to know you & your pet! Dr. Kay will always will take time with you answering your questions, never rushing, and will help give you the best treatment for your pet. They always follow-up with a phone call a day or two after to check and see how your pet is doing after they have had a procedure or been sick. I had just moved here from Colorado in 2008 and had to find a vet for my German shepherd. When I was looking in the yellow pages I found a lot of vets. There were many that had multiple DR.'s in them and I felt they would lack the personal touch. I wanted to go some where that when I walked in the door they would know who I was and my dogs name. Lebanon Road Animal Hospital was able to get me in quick and helped me deal with the fact that my dog has severe hip dysplasia. Since that day and up till right now they have gone out of their way to help my dog and myself live the best possible quality of life that we have left together. Dr. Kay has always been very friendly and remembers our dogs names when ever we take them in there. I think they are great! The staff there has change but I think the Dr's are still the same. The only thing I don't like about the Hospital is the ""Dr call"". I don't know exactly what it is, but I know they don't call anyone because she tells me what wrong before any call is made. I have, in the past, done Chihuahua rescue, and have had literally dozens of Chihuahuas come through my home in the last 8 years. 7 of those years Kay & Ben Baker have been my vets. Dr. Kay almost always can identify the problem immediately and make a recommendation. Dr. Ben has performed numerous surgeries on my babies, some delicate, with perfection every time.
