I was quite impressed with Dr. Randy. I made an appointment with Northgate after several requests for calls back (both left with a human and on voicemail) went unreturned at the first vet I went to after I adopted my cat. I was impressed with Dr. Randy's willingness to educate me and teach me how to give my cat the medication he needed. I understand he is in business to make money, but it was clear his approach wasn't to do son on the backs of his clients. "This test was negative, but what I'm looking for is hard to detect. Sometimes it can take several samples and even sending a sample to a lab." But rather than telling me to come back and in X days and get another sample, he prescribed medication right away rather than go through the time, expense, and frustration of test after test. He also said as long as the food I chose to feed my cat had the AFFCO statement on it he would be happy with it. Higher price doesn't necessarily mean higher quality. Read Less

I have a quarrelsome cat that seldom likes anyone, but Dr. Jim Hammon has been gentle and caring enough to handle and treat my cat better than any veterinarian we have ever been to. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at Northgate Animal Hospital. Dr. Hammon has been taking care of my 3 cats for several years and I am very happy with the service. One of my babies developed a urinary tract infection 2 weeks ago. I just took her in for a checkup and she is fine now and feeling much better since the medications and change of diet have been done. Dr Randy has been Hollys vet over 15 years and is our best friend. He and the hospital educated us and gave lots of love and comfort as we battled the kidney disease. My Terrier Skipper is a rescue and has always had occasional itchy skin. I took Skipper to Northgate Animal Hospital to try to get to the bottom of the problem. Dr. Hammon said it was allergic dermatitis and that he needed to be on a special diet and gave me some ointment to use on his hot spots. He was scratching and licking a lot sometimes and now he is obviously much more comfortable. I am so grateful to have this problem under control. My Pug had been shaking her head for several days and then 2 days ago she cried out when I rubbed her ears. I thought at first she had some kind of headache because it felt like her head was hot when I petted her. I took her to Northgate Animal Hospital where the vet examined and then cleaned and medicated her ears. He said she had a bad infection especially in her right ear. My dog is treated as if she was their own and everything is explained so it can be clearly understood. My dog suddenly started having bloody diarrhea and vomiting. I thought maybe he had swallowed a foreign object so I rushed to Northgate Animal Hospital. X-rays were negative so not knowing what could be the cause I confessed to giving Shelby seasoned roast turkey for a Holiday treat the night before all this started. Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis caused by the seasoning in the meat was the diagnosis. I felt horrible that I had essentially poisoned my dog but I was relieved to have an expert vet to take charge of the situation and bring Shelby back to health. Read Less
