General Info
Animal Dental Services in Knoxville is a veterinary practice committed to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to pets in the community. Located in Knoxville, United States, the clinic is reputed for its professional and respectful approach towards animals and their owners. The experienced team provides personalized wellness plans, regular check-ups, and various treatments tailored to each pet’s needs. Services often include: Dental Care, Prescription Medications, Dental Radiographs, Diagnostics, Wellness Exams, Anesthesiology, and Radiology (X-rays). These treatments are performed with a great level of attention to detail and focus on both preventive and restorative aspects. The clinic is well-equipped, and the animals are made comfortable during visits to ensure accurate diagnosis for successful treatment. Clients often cite the empathetic and communicative nature of the staff as a reason they trust the practice with their pets' long-term health and wellbeing. Animal Dental Services continues to grow as a cornerstone of the Knoxville pet-owning community. Whether a pet is starting life and needs help with healthy habits or an older one is struggling with chronic conditions, the professionals are always ready to assist. Their passion for animal welfare is a driving force that continually pushes them to expand their knowledge and remain updated with the latest trends in veterinary medicine. This ensures that every pet receives the utmost quality care. The practice also actively advocates for responsible pet ownership and community engagement, making it more than just a clinic but a pillar of support for pet families. Animal Dental Services in Knoxville derives its care approach from pets’ long-term expressions and implementations of proactive strategies into Tennessee homes. The first visits are aimed at ensuring the pet’s comfort. Pets should be allowed to explore the space and act naturally without any time limitations. Before the physical examination, the veterinary team checks for subtle signs like eye movement, tail position and movement, gait behavior, or pressure sensitivity. Physical checkups include tracking the joints, monitoring weight, coat texture, and thermal regulation patterns. Through observation of their morning activities, sleep pattern, vocal behaviour and any other recent behavioral changes of the cat, owners assist in monitoring. Animal Dental Services develops treatment plans to address acute problems, performs surgeries, and provides care for seasonal health issues and chronic illnesses. Support covers lab testing services, diagnostics referrals, infection prevention protocols, senior animal care guidelines, and emotion-focused recovery checklists. Plans are spaced and sequenced appropriately. The goal is to keep the owner informed but not overwhelmed (especially when there are multiple pets or complex diagnoses). The essence of communication is the foundational core. Notes are sent after every visit, and follow-ups will be optional based on the pets’ adjustment and not just a calendar reminder. It helps them identify subtle signs of regression and advancement to the next growth stage. Long-term care also includes pacing, choice-based scheduling, and reassurance. The practice focuses on examining a pet’s behavior and respecting the family’s opinions to develop adequate care plans, which remain consistent and compassionate from start to finish.

Our cat had been run over by a car. This photo is 10 days after getting part of his upper jaw put back together at the ER. We were then referred to the Knoxville Animal Dental facility where Dr. Burton and her staff found the bottom jaw was also broken as well as several teeth and a shattered eye socket. With all that needed to be repaired he looks, acts, breathes and eats normally; however he is now an inside cat. I would definitely refer them to anyone with animal dental issues. Read Less

Took our husky, who has already had one surgery at a regular vet resulting in the removal of 13 teeth, to see Dr. Startup in February for extractions and cleaning. Turned out that she needed an additional 11 teeth removed, and the experience of this surgery was so much better for our dog. She was not overly groggy / doped up coming out of anesthesia, and didn't cry for her pain medication at any point during recovery (after her first surgery she was in a significant amount of pain, and it was only her tiny front incisors that were removed - this surgery was for premolars on both sides of her mouth). I cannot recommend Dr. Startup and Animal Dental Services enough, she did amazing work and her assistant Stephanie was very helpful with my post surgery questions. Read Less
