Crossings Animal Hospital

Knoxville, Tennessee
General Info
Crossings Animal Hospital in Knoxville treats veterinary care as a trust-building practice aimed at fostering confidence among both animals and their human caregivers throughout Tennessee. Before permitting an examination cats often require indirect eye contact. Canine training may necessitate elongated step transitions while allowing dogs to investigate tools through scent exploration. The clinic utilizes a species-specific methodology combined with emotionally responsive techniques to prevent overstimulation while adjusting for individual tolerance thresholds. In this process owners appear as complete partners. Their understanding of domestic pet behavior including post-storm actions sleeping proximity and reactions to new textures serves as clinical input. Crossings Animal Hospital delivers medical support through preventive planning and diagnostics as well as internal medicine and nutrition advisement plus dental care together with multi-species senior pet wellness. Each procedure's timing is meticulously synchronized with the animal’s capacity to maintain a tranquil and present state. Certain pets experience diagnostic processes that span multiple visits while paired with anxiety-reduction preparation plans. Handlers implement specialized techniques for exotic pets to avert stress-induced health issues. Following medical appointments families receive signal-based post-care guidelines which include methods to monitor pain expression and assess overstimulation from sound or activity as well as timing for resuming normal interactions. Each treatment plan embodies a rhythm which dictates the appropriate moments to pause to engage and to perform follow-up checks. Crossings Animal Hospital delivers veterinary services to Knoxville pets and families along with nearby Tennessee regions by respecting each patient's unique stress signals physical language and timing needs through an emotional veterinary approach.

I used to like this company whenever I had an issue they were quick to help me. However, I will never take my dog here again! I dropped her off with an upset stomach before I went to work. I was notified that I could either have them give her subcutaneous injections and oral medication for 390.00 but, there was a chance that I would have to take her to an ER for an IV since it was the weekend or I could go ahead and pay 440.00 for the IV medication and bring her back the next day. Therefore, I chose the IV medication due to the fact the doctors said she looked nauseous. Well, I picked her up at 5:15 pm after work and took her home. Around 7:00pm I noticed her paw was swelling to twice the size of her other foot and tried to loosen the bandages per the ER vet's instructions. However, she was in so much pain that she started to growl at me. Therefore, I rushed her to the ER where they informed me that the blood flow to my dogs foot was cut off due to the bandages being wrapped to tightly and that she would have to be sedated again to take the catheter out of her leg causing an additional 126.36 for the ER visit. Well, I called the vet the next day to have the charges reimbursed since it was their fault that she had to be rushed to the clinic. However, I was told that since I had taken her home it was my fault because, I took that responsibility into my own hands. However, there is NO ONE at the clinic after 6:00pm when they close. Therefore, no one would have been able to see that her paw was swollen and in that time she could have lost her paw due to a lack of blood. Therefore, it is an extremely good thing that I had been there because, if she had lost her paw I would have been on the phone with a lawyer before I even walked out of the office. There is no reason that a dogs paw should have been wrapped that tightly. Finally, if you have an active dog and you let them wrap their and let them keep them you may need to change their name to tripod! Read Less

Lost our 12 yr. old WGS Gixxer last month and decided to get a new pup. Dr. Sullivan was very kind, listened to our concerns (being new puppy parents after 12 yrs. = lots of questions) and took all the time we needed to go over everything! Well on a whim we decided to rescue a 2nd pup the same age the weekend before Zoey's next appt. Walked in with Zaiden - no appt of course - and again gave a thorough exam, talked about needs and wants, she even took the time to play with the pups. We're recent transplants from FL who unfortunately had a horrible experience with a place down there. Our WGS was over-vaccinated and we were lied to on multiple levels. Crossings staff was a welcome change € a blessing to not be raked over with exorbitant fees but most importantly not pushed out the door. I feel our pups will have amazing care with Dr. Sullivan. Thank you to the staff for a very enjoyable experience ... we'll definitely be back! Read Less

I have taken two sick animals to crossings one cat that happend to be a stray. She had a runny nose and watery eyes, very thin, and had some hair loss. They charged me 148 dollars plus antibiotics and sent her home. Two weeks later we find out she has rabies!! How the hell does a veternarian not know the symptoms of rabies?! Luckily, this kitty was caged so no other animals or people were infected. My mother and I were the ones giving her medication and thank God we didn't get bitten or scratched. My uncle had a Maltese and he had absessed teeth. The dog was very elderly and I even told the vet I thought he would not make it through the surgery, because of his age and his loss of weight. She managed to con him into having surgery done on the dog and gave it a 90 percent survival rate. He started to suffer two days after we had the surgery done and they said it would be another 150 dollars to put him down after they managed to rip him off 480 dollars. This place is a joke. DO NOT take your animal here if you care about them! Read Less

Why I will never use Crossings Animal Hospital again:I have two dogs, who, as many of you can sympathize with, are like my children. One has extreme allergies – so bad that my vet dermatologist said to me that he rarely sees cases like my puppy Leia has. About a year ago, I relocated to Knoxville from Phoenix. Crossings animal hospital was the closest to me. Even though they advised me that they did not have a lot of experience with vet dermatology (both times that I requested orders they advised me I needed to call the allergen company myself), they ended up ordering the the serum for me, even though I had to coach them through it both times. The last time I was there, I requested another order. It normally takes 2 weeks to fill. So 4 weeks before I ran out of medication, I requested that the order be filled. I hadn’t heard from anyone (after 3 weeks), so I stopped in to see what the status was. The admin told me that she would look into this and call me back. She did. She informed me that it was not ordered because I would have to do a separate panel for Knoxville allergens, and they would not order until I paid the $400 or so to do this. She also advised me that I had already been informed of the need for the additional allergy test, and she could not order anything until this was done. I let her know that I was, at this point, out of the serum, and that I would be happy to do the test next go around. I also requested that a Vet from Crossings call me back. A few hours later, I received a call from the Admin (no Vet) and she advised that she will not order the serum for me until Crossings perform a local allergy panel. She also advised me that this was previously discussed with me, per the notes in the file. This was NEVER discussed with me –In FACT, I originally asked the question regarding the local allergy test for Leia. They advised me that they would look into it, as this was not their specialty, they would have to research. This is the LAST I heard of this, until they refused to order the serum. My frustration with Crossings Animal Hospital is around two issues. 1) I was never made aware that they would not order the serum without a local panel. When I ordered the Serum, no call was made to me stating that they would not order the Serum for me. I found this out 4 weeks after the initial order, when I stopped in to check the status of the order. 2) Notes in the account stated that they would not order the serum unless a local panel was done, and that this was NOT discussed with me. This conversation never took place. While allergy serum is elective and not serious circumstance, I have very deep concerns about what would happen with a more serious condition. Because of this, I DO NOT trust Crossings, I do not feel they have my pets best interest in mind, I will not longer trust them with my Pets health. I still have not heard from a VET at Crossings.

Read Less

The friendliest staff, they really do care about our pets, and our feelings toward our pets. I would highly recommend, They worked very hard to diagnose our kitten's issues, when there was nothing left to do, they were very supportive and compassionate about our pet. I was highly impressed with Crossings. Remember usually only bad experiences are the ones you see on here. Out of the few bad experiences in their ratings, there are thousands of great ratings that never get seen.Read Less
