Dr Dixon and his staff are wonderful. Dr Dixon is very knowledgeable and explained in detail what treatment my two Shih Tzu needed. Dr. Dixon and his team have been treating our animals for 24 years. When you stop and really think about why you take your animals to a vet it is not for your treatment it is for the best treatment of the animal. While he is dry, which I prefer, he is extremely compassionate and caring. He always finds out through thorough testing proper diagnosis for the best treatment of very complex medical issues. My friends who use other vets usually get sent to UT for lesser issues and have massive bills. All of my animals are now exceedingly elderly due to his care. Dr. Dixon and his father have cared for my dogs for 34 years. Yes, they both have had a dry bedside manner; however, I always drive 20-30 minutes just because my critters have received such excellent care. Dr. Dixon takes the time to explain and answer questions. It's not like an assembly line (getting you in there and out). My first dog lived to be 18 years old. I now have two dogs who are 16 and 13. I attribute those long lives to the good care and advice I have always received from Dixon Animal Hospital. Read Less

We take both our dog and cat to Dixon Animal Hospital and have been VERY pleased with the care. As described in some of the other reviews, Dr. Dixon does have a dry bedside manner, but is great with the animals. He always takes his time with them and is thorough with their check-ups. My wife and I have been taking our pet dogs to Dr. Dixon for about 20 years. Yes he has a somewhat dry bedside manner. I consider it my challenge to make him smile on our visits. However, the quality of service we receive is excellent. Three years ago he saved our dog Piper's life when he discovered a tumor on her leg. He removed as much of it as he dared and then referred us to UT Vet Hospital where she had to receive 19 radiation treatments. She is still with us three years later (with a slight dimple in her leg and a bald spot around it from the radiation). Dr. Dixon knows his craft. Healthcare for humans is expensive and vet healthcare is not much different; however, I believe that Dr. Dixon has always tried to accommodate our budget concerns, sometimes even when we didn€t really have any. Unless YOU'RE the one that needs to be petted, you can€t do any better. Read Less
