General Info
Hardin Valley Animal Hospital in Knoxville is committed to giving all pets in the area caring and holistic treatment. This clinic is located in Knoxville, United States. It is known for a professional and reliable approach to animal health and promotes the support of pet owners. The experienced team specializes in personalized wellness plans and regular check-ups for pets. Services often include Ultrasound, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Therapy, Telehealth, Acupuncture, Mobile Vet Services, Puppy and Kitten Care. These procedures are performed with attention to detail, and focus on both the prevention and correction of problems. The clinic is well-equipped, and the animals feel comfortable during the visits. Clients often cite the staff’s caring and communicative nature as a decisive factor, which promotes long-term trust and ensures that pets receive consistent care. Hardin Valley Animal Hospital is always looking to expand its influence, reputation, and quality of care to the pet-owning community of Knoxville. Helping younger pets start their life journeys on the right foot and assisting older pets grappling with chronic diseases, the clinic’s professionals have always been ready to help. Their love for animals also shines through their efforts to constantly educate themselves on the latest techniques and best practices in veterinary care. This guarantees that every pet gets the best possible care. The practice actively participates in programs meant to make the community better and strives to create awareness of what it means to be a responsible pet owner. The veterinary consultations at Hardin Valley Animal Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee, employ co-regulation techniques. The way the room space is arranged promotes standing still. Use the chairs wide apart in order to reduce pressure. Tables in exam rooms can be altered for stability and access. Staff members measure the caregiver’s breathing rate, vocal pitch, and eye movement before they interact with their pets because animals often look to their humans for cues. The intentional application of silence takes place. Under certain circumstances, the caregiver should initiate treatment by waiting for some time so that the dogs and cats can reflect decelerated rhythms. Hardin Valley Animal Hospital evaluates overall wellbeing with organ diagnostics, pain threshold, allergy factors, and hydration status—energy-based when appropriate. Visit timing was also part of the plan. A pet store’s animals in the morning could tolerate more stimuli and activities than those exhibited in the afternoon. Modulating vocal tones is vital since anxious dogs respond better to people using lower-pitched voices, while cats startle less at narrowed frequency bands. After the visits, pet owners receive instructions on rhythmical sequences for executing the necessary home maintenance acts of care based on tonal patterns of vocal communication (when to speak softly and when to step back from the animal) and spatial positioning (when to put the pet into sunlight or let it rest within enclosed darkness). This is because the intricate patterns are designed to enable us to reset our physical and emotional states to their baseline nature. Hardin Valley Animal Hospital, through its intricate connection of pet and owner nervous systems, performs clinical care standards that touch household hearts in Tennessee (Knoxville).

I love that when your dog has any type of procedure done, even if it is a basic follow up, they will call the next day to check on how your dog is. Brought our dog in because she was vomiting and not looking well. They ran tests to try and diagnose the issue, which included a fecal sample they took while we were there. We were charged $450 for the fecal sample, xray, and some other tests. Told that we would be contacted next day with results of the sample. We received a call asking if our pup was feeling better, but when asked about the results they said they didn’t have them yet. 5 days goes by and our pup begins vomiting again, among other symptoms. We bring her in and mention we never received the fecal sample results. Her response “oh yeah we took too small of a sample and it was inconclusive”. Then she acted as if she was doing us a favor by redoing the fecal and not charging us. This time we were charged $90 for the visit. Later that day, we ended up diagnosing our pup ourselves when she vomited up a worm (turns out she had roundworm). One $60 pill later and the roundworm is gone and she is back to normal. We are very upset that no one bothered to call us to tell us the sample THEY took was too small and ended up being inconclusive. We could have easily got a new sample done that day and avoided our dog having to sufer an additional 5 days, along with us not having to pay the $90 for the second visit, which would have never taken place had samples been taken correctly and she was put on the medication right away. Aside from how our issue was handled, wait times are very long and prices are high. Don’t expect to be in and out in less than 1.5hrs. We used them for this emergency as they were close by and our other vet was unavailable, but will not be returning. Read Less

Not a vet for large dogs. Probably fine for small dogs or cats, but these people have no idea how to deal with a large dog. They insist on putting my sweet rottie under for as little as a flu shot. The last time this happened, they called to inform me that they were unable to treat him even after two rounds of sedation and were “afraid to give him more” for fear they would kill him. I’m glad they called me at least so I could tell them to absolutely not give him any more! If that’s a “fear free zone” thank you, but I will pass. I picked him up a mess and untreated (other than excessive amounts of very expensive sedatives). I could barely get him into the car and he was ill the entire evening. Needless to say, we have changed vets. Good news is, our new vet is fantastic! Our rottie loves him and they have absolutely no problem treating him without sedatives and/or even a muzzle. This had been our experience at every other vet up until Hardin Valley Animal Hospital. Read Less

The techs talk with you in depth about good & bad habits and how to improve the animal's lifestyle. Dr. Greene is Jenny's vet, and she is kind and gentle, she calls to follow-up post treatment - even on the weekend! The ladies at the front explain always everything on the bill. I love the no-fear concept. Jenny can be a little on the nervous side when in unfamiliar surroundings, and that bottle of cheese REALLY helps calm her nerves! By far, best vet in town. Read Less

I've been taking my two dogs to HVAH since they were pups. The staff from top to bottom are all very friendly and helpful. They provide email notifications specific to each dog when vaccinations are due and always conduct follow up calls whenever I bring my boys in for something nonstandard. They are great at providing information and options for me to make decisions, and I appreciate that they are not always trying to push extra services and are sensitive to the expense that comes with having a pet. It's very nice to be able to make a less expensive appointment with a tech instead of the doctor when they just need something simple like a bordatella vaccination. Love love LOVE HVAH!  My 7 year old cat had a bad experience with a vet that was substituting when I lived in MS, so I am super picky with choosing a vet for her.  First of all, the office is in an old residental house, so it's very homey and inviting.  Second of all, they take appointments so you aren't waiting forever to see the vet.  Third, the vets and assistants love their job and love your pet.  They treat them wit the utmost respect.  They take the time to make the pet feel comfortable, and answer any of your questions.  Plus, you can call them with anything and they are happy to assist.  They have a website, hvah.com.  Please check them out for yourself! I can’t say enough good things about HVAH. I’m so happy to have found them. They take such good care of my fur babies. I have two cats (3years old) and 1 dog (7 month old goldendoodle). It is my first dog to own as an adult so I have had a ton of questions. They have been patient and kind. They have given pointers on things to help her. They also helped to get my animals acclimated to my new home. I love them there! So thankful. Read Less

Love the fear-free approach. One of our dogs has bad vet anxiety and they put him at ease in a variety of ways. They even have an outdoor exam room, which really helped.

Read Less

I've been taking my pup Jenny to HVAH since I adopted her, 1.5 years now. The service we've received has been bar none.

So happy that I found them and recommend them to anyone looking for a great veterinarian. Read Less
