Knoxville Animal Clinic

Knoxville, Tennessee
General Info
Knoxville Animal Clinic bases its veterinary services on transparent practices and relationship development to provide ongoing support to Tennessee pet owners. The majority of veterinary appointments begin with narratives where pet owners observe their animals becoming sluggish, missing meals, scratching excessively, or displaying altered behaviors. The veterinary examination process starts with an all-encompassing assessment which includes monitoring body weight trends alongside joint movement analysis while also checking oral health and respiratory patterns together with coat and skin evaluations and behavioral observations. Every observation gets recorded and reviewed to provide owners with understanding about normal conditions new developments and potential issues needing monitoring or follow-up care. Knoxville Animal Clinic delivers preventive healthcare services including vaccinations, lab testing, dental cleanings, nutritional planning and parasite control while also providing chronic care support for conditions like allergies, arthritis and metabolic issues. Every appointment functions as an opportunity to address previous issues while adjusting wellness objectives and presenting new care options according to age breed and home environment factors which may include lifestyle changes seasonal requirements or behavioral adjustments. Pet owners depart equipped with practical summaries that include treatment plans, symptom watchlists, follow-up schedules and digital record access alongside medication tips. Families with hectic schedules who care for elderly pets or manage numerous animals have the option to request adjusted pacing telemedicine when available or logs to maintain organization between visits. Knoxville Animal Clinic establishes unwavering trust and consistent veterinary care throughout Knoxville and Tennessee by providing a dependable approach for every concern from minor adjustments to significant life stages.

I've only ever received the best quality of service from the Dr and Vet Assistants at Knoxville Animal Clinic. I trust their thorough examinations and attention to detail. Additionally, they are ready to answer all my questions, and follow through with information that I may have been unaware even to ask. You might find lower prices around town, but likely not better quality of service and expertise. The receptionist is a bit coarse, however. Someone who is first point of contact for potential customers should endeavor to be more warm and welcoming on the phone or in person. Read Less

We have been bringing our pets here since we moved to Knoxville 5 years ago. Having used both their vet and boarding services, I can say that the service has been great on all counts. Above all I want to mention how wonderful this team was to us when we had to say goodbye to our dear 16 year old Beagle recently. The day we brought him in, the staff were extremely respectful and patient. This was one of the most difficult things we have had to do, and they handled it with great respect and compassion and we are so grateful for that. A week or so later we received such a touching card from the clinic with a note from everyone. Thank you again for all that you do for our pets and I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for vet or boarding services. Read Less

Dr Skinner is very knowledgeable and caring! I was impressed with the care here and other staff were also very friendly. I had taken my dogs to a much more costly group of vets that also has a much fancier building and looks great on the outside, but the care my dogs got there turned out to be not as good. When I had my dogs teeth cleaned at KAC I was surprised how clean they could be! They didn't look like that after the other vets did the same thing. I could go on, but what it comes down to is use Knoxville Animal Clinic and don't be fooled by fancier vets offices that charge an arm and a leg! Dr Skinner is a great vet and really cares about animals! Read Less

My first experience was great! I called and they originally had no available appointments until Thursday, but thanks to the nice receptionist, they managed to see me same day. Dr. Skinner is awesome! He's kind, he explains and answers questions, he doesn't seem rushed and he was good withy boy! I will definitely be back! However, when I called today to ask about vaccine prices and dental work, a different receptionist answered and was a bit rude. I'm thankful she didn't answer the phone yesterday! If you do not know the answer a, " I'm just the receptionist. I don't know the cost of things....." Is not a good response. You are the first person we talk to and see. Your personality on the phone CAN make or break if people even want to come in. That being said, I will still be back to see the Dr.! Read Less

We decided to switch our vet to this location several years ago to try something closer to our home since our dog was getting older. The few times we went initially, I was happy with the vets but was very dissatisfied with the customer service from one of the receptionists. I found her very impatient and very rude but decided to keep going since his treatment was the only thing that mattered. This past week, our dog had to go to the ER and I called to try to set up an urgent follow up on Saturday because he was having a new set of issues that I was concerned about. I even had the ER visit documentation that I told her I would quickly fax over so that they could see his notes/levels coupled by my summary of his newer issues/description that just had developed (to try to get a professional opinion about whether he was w/i normal limits or to confirm my concerns/instinct). After being on hold for over 10 minutes after she originally said she could get me in on Sat with a different doctor, she ended up telling me that "the info didn't matter" because she would not be able to get me in until the following week and suggested I try someone else. What?!?! I understand that we may not be the top priority and we are not their only patients but it made me feel like we did not matter at all. And not to mention adding this rejection to my already heightened emotions and fears regarding my dog's state. We ended up back in the ER later that night and my intuition and fears were correct--there was something else going on and he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, fluid in the lungs and had to be kept overnight on Oxygen. (something that they didn't find 2 nights earlier from his GI issue visit and just goes to show you how quickly the health can change) Fortunately, I ended up calling our previous vet after I got off the phone with this Vet (whom we had not seen in over 5 years). Once I relayed to them the exact same concerns and informed them of what had been going on, they fit us in the very next day. Therefore, we were able to pick him up from the ER and take him straight to Central. They even called us that am to let us know that if we needed to bring him in earlier than the appointment, to do it! The moral of this review--you may have a great practice of doctors but if you don't have someone representing the practice with the upmost customer service and someone that gives a good first impression, it doesn't matter. Customer service is not only about what is said, it is also how you make people feel. She clearly made me feel that my concerns were not valid and that my situation was not important. Therefore, I will be taking our doggie business back to the previous location for the remainder of his care and whatever precious time we have left.Read Less

The next day I send my mother to see him, and the pictures I received from her were terrifying! I urged my mother to rush him to the emergency room, and not to allow Knoxville Animal Clinic to give my dog any medications... The shelter manager immediately rushed my dog to the cage and locked him away, and held my dog hostage until my mother paid her for the entire 7 days(2 days early), and made my mother pay for 3 different antibiotics which I told them NOT to feed my dog... When they got him to the Emergency Room, they found sand and roofing material. KAC wasn't giving him water in his kennel and when they let him outside to play he went to the side of the building and drank from the gutter runoff.. Horrible people Read Less

They have always been responsive and thorough.  It's also great that they can both check out and then board my dogs.  Luckily for me, my dogs have generally been pretty healthy, even in their advanced age, so I have not yet needed care for anything truly serious, but the routine care and boarding have always been top notch.  It helps a lot that everyone there so clearly loves animals.  While having a vet close to home matters too, I have continued to use them even after moving out of the neighborhood. **BEWARE** NEARLY KILLED MY DOG- MISTREATS THE ANIMALS UNDER THEIR CARELet the horror story begin: I dropped off my dog to be cared for while I went on vacation... 4 days later, they contact me and tell me my dog has been sick for 3 days, hasn't eaten, drank or anything...

I've had pets all my life, and I'm 70, so I've had lots of experiences with animal clinics all over the country. Knoxville Animal Clinic has by far the most knowledgeable, caring veternarians and staff I have ever found, Anywhere! They follow up to check on the progress of your pet, and they treat your pet like it was their own, My dog loves them. How many animal clinics can say a dog loves to go there? Few and far between. I would recommend KAC to anyone who wants that special care for their furry family member. Knoxville is fortunate to have such a caring and professional animal clinic, and I would not even consider going any place other than KAC.
