Ut Reproduction Facility/Vrec

Knoxville, Tennessee
General Info
The Ut Reproduction Facility/Vrec in Knoxville builds medical plans that encompass entire family units by providing support to both pets and their caregivers across Tennessee. Initial visits focus on creating a comfortable environment where pets can explore the space and express their reactions at their own speed. Before initiating hands-on examinations the veterinary team monitors subtle cues such as eye movements, tail positioning, gait changes and pressure response. Medical evaluations encompass examinations of joint movement records, hydration levels, body mass measurements, gum coloration, fur quality assessments, and thermal regulation patterns. Owners participate by recording morning habits alongside sleep patterns and vocal behaviors while noting recent behavioral changes. The Ut Reproduction Facility/Vrec delivers intricate treatment plans for acute medical conditions alongside surgical interventions while addressing seasonal health changes and managing chronic ailments. Support includes lab testing imaging referrals infection prevention senior animal protocols and emotionally-informed recovery checklists. The arrangement of plans through deliberate spacing and sequencing aims to minimize stress while keeping the owner informed without causing overwhelm, particularly for those handling multiple pets or intricate medical conditions. The essence of communication remains fundamental. Following each visit notes are dispatched while optional follow-ups depend on pet adjustment progress rather than set calendar alerts. Instruction is given to owners on detecting both subtle regression indicators and signs of developmental progress. Long-term care incorporates methods of pacing alongside choice-based scheduling and reassurance strategies. Ut Reproduction Facility/Vrec delivers veterinary services throughout Knoxville and Tennessee where treatment plans emerge from both animal behaviors and family communications creating medical approaches that remain consistent compassionate and well-informed throughout the care process.

We paid for a young cat to have a cleft palate repair. They did a wonderful job and now Mal is almost 2 years old. We fostered him and tube fed him and wellllll he never left. He was malnourished and only weighed 4 pounds. He should have weighed 7. He has a big bone structure. He is a very healthy 11 pounds now and the funniest red boy. They neutered him and he got his vaccines at the same time. Thank y'all for helping him get a great start. Our lovely veterinarian in Big Stone Gap Dr Shuler made the arrangements and we were blessed with the great level of care. I drove an 8 hour round trip to get him the day he was ready to be released. Want to thank the Drs and students of the large animal division. Our female llama Dark Secret had a uterine torsion that continued to tors, so c-section was tequired. Both her and her cria ..being 17 days premature are doing awesome. Cria is very healthy, wild and takes great delight on picking on the other crias. Lol. I was always, kept informed and always welcomed to be there with my llamas for as long as I chose to be. Hope that some of the vet students choose to come to Smith County TN as our 1 current large animal Veterinarian is retiring soon and looking for someone to take over her large animal practice Thank you again to all those at the Large Animal at UTCVM-University of TN Read Less

Late last night when I arrived home, I found our handsome tuxedo cat Boo, one of our seven cats, in extreme distress. He was unresponsive and felt cold to the touch. We rushed him to UT Vet School, not knowing what had happened to cause this. From the moment we stepped up to the counter, I knew we had come to the right place. Within 2-3 minutes a technician came to take Boo back for evaluation. Within another few minutes, she returned to tell us Boo was indeed critical and to ask if we wanted them to attempt to resuscitate if he arrested. After the doctor had time to assess the obvious symptoms, she met with us. Dr. Amanda Rainey was wonderfully considerate, sympathetic and honest about the gravity of the situation as she explained our options. It was with sadness we decided the humane path would be to let our 10 yr. old Boo go. We didn't want to put him through invasive testing and procedures with no guarantee he could be treated. Dr. Rainey understood we didn't want him to suffer any more. She offered to let us go back to say goodbye, which I chose to do. She talked with me and shared her own experience of losing a beloved cat in a sudden health emergency, and she reassured me about our decision to let Boo go. I really needed to know what had happened so suddenly to Boo, especially with other cats at home. When I mentioned this to Dr. Rainey, she said they could perform an autopsy at no additional charge since he had come in as a patient. Today, Dr. Rainey called personally to let us know the autopsy was performed and that we could pick up Boo for burial. She said she would also call us with the autopsy report when it becomes available. My husband and I cannot adequately express our gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Rainey for her sincere compassion at this sad time. Her soft tone and calm demeanor helped us deal with the emergency at hand. I'm proud our great university chooses such exemplary staff; Dr. Rainey is an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Clinical Services. Thank you to all the dedicated staff at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical School Small Animal Clinic! How reassuring to know you're there to help animals (and their owners) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Read Less

Dr. Newbold came in on a Saturday to see my baby girl Starr for an ophthalmic emergency. She actually arrived before me and although having 3 emergencies happening at once, promptly attended to my dog. She offered to perform surgery that while not life threatening, ensured my precious girl would be relieved of intense pain. She didn't have to do this on a weekend but did for me and Starr. I highly commend her for that. She, the student, and all involved, went above and beyond to help. Everyone was extremely informative, explaining the disease causing Starr to ultimately lose her eye and taking time to address my questions and concerns. She also addressed a problem in the other eye and hopefully because of this, we stand a chance at prolonging Starr's sight. I was very happy with our care. Despite it being extremely traumatic for me, I left UTCVM feeling confident the right decisions were made and proper protocol was followed. Kudos to Dr. Newbold, the clinician, staff and students. And for an added bonus, the cost was quite reasonable, especially for an emergency on a weekend, and actually was several hundred under quote! Thanks to all!Read Less
