Animal Emergency Center

Memphis, Tennessee
General Info
Animal Emergency Center provides Memphis families with pet care that embodies repetitive minimalistic patterns and smooth sequences creating a rhythmic experience animals recognize throughout Tennessee. The daily setup of appointment rooms follows an identical sequence where furniture arrangements combined with lighting configurations and entry point placements remain constant to eliminate superfluous decision-making. The staff members execute minimal voice modulation while maintaining restricted movement arcs and introduce pauses between procedural transitions to help pets acclimate. Managing odors takes precedence where scents get neutralized between visits to prevent sensory accumulation. Pet orientation patterns dictate whether owners can sit near their pets or maintain a distance. Animal Emergency Center delivers diagnostics infection management joint health evaluation nutritional adjustments behavioral consults and recovery tracking. Services emerge within interconnected processes instead of appearing as discrete checklist items. When animals turn away or lower their ears staff members re-establish familiar cues by repeating low-impact actions such as stroking the air or offering a tactile anchor like a towel or sleeve. The reintegration process after care involves rhythm-based techniques. Post-procedure instruction equips families with techniques to maintain morning routines while learning to decrease home stimuli and employ gentle ambient sounds for sleep cycle regulation. Instructions transcend mere prescriptions by incorporating environmental adjustments that assist pets in resuming their daily activities without confusion. Animal Emergency Center extends its veterinary services from Memphis to nearby Tennessee communities by emulating natural animal regulation through gentle rhythms and predictable spaces combined with low-noise decision-making.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I'm still mad. DO NOT COME HERE. ONLY GO HERE IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH!!! OR IF YOU HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY YOU WANT TO WASTE ON INFERIOR CARE!!! I was horrified by their reviews, and made anxious by the fact the interior had bulletproof glass, but I had a late night pet emergency and MVS was full. This was my first mistake. We should have waited on MVS. So, I called my regular vet to let them (Animal Emergency Center) know we were coming. They couldn't find our records or last name. They charged us nearly 10 times what our regular vet would, but for doubtful services. I was extremely nervous seeing my bill and all the reviews that said they will hold your pet unless you can pay. They did not seem to have access to our patient history. I did not have the slightest faith in the competence of these employees moments after speaking to them. They said had no idea how long our dog's dosage of medication would be and they told us they would call us back 2-5 am. I had to verify they had our phone number. Needless to say, I spent all night worried whether or not my dog was coming home alive. I called at 3 am and they said to come back at 7 am to get her. I arrived at 6:45 and I'm still waiting at 7:15. They told me 10 minutes almost half an hour ago. They keep pushing timetables out. Are they trained professionals? They way they drag their feet around here, you'd think they were hourly. The way treatment works here seems to be designed to drain your bank account regardless of the patient's needs. They could not find our chart. They had no patient history. They had no idea what antibiotics to use. After speaking to our normal vet, they turned out to be useless and more than likely just a way to charge us again for something unnecessary. I found out when we returned to our original vet, they never sent over any records whatsoever. "Shockingly incompetent" comes to mind, but honestly, I'm not surprised at this point. I made sure to get documentation. We asked the doctor to bandage her wound and let us leave because we would be returning to our normal vet ASAP. I didn't want to incur any unnecessary expenses, but THE DOCTOR rolled her eyes at us and slammed the door. I assume she got upset because she couldn't gouge us for further services. I didn't feel like being charged another $300 for something our vet would do for a fraction of the cost and none of the headache. I was highly skeptical walking in and nervous upon reading their reviews. I now know why. I felt like a medical hostage more than a patient. If I could have found a field hospital with more competent staff and cleanliness, I would have gone there. At first, I had no idea how they stayed in business, but gouging their customers is how they stay afloat. I will never return to this place if physically possible. Read Less

On April 29, 2018, we brought our cat to this emergency center because he seemed to be having periods of pain and difficulty walking. The staff were pleasant and professional, but the veterinarian on duty did next to nothing to determine what was going on. Blood was drawn but no analyses were performed. Following the physical exam were told that he appeared fine, but were given no idea (differential diagnosis) what may have caused this and were sent home with the drawn blood in case the symptoms recurred - they did the next day. Ultimately we found a veterinarian who listened to what we had to say and his diagnosis came back as a Mycoplasma haemofaelis infection whose pathology explained the symptoms we were seeing and the findings seen in the labs from the blood that was drawn. I wouldn't go to this uncaring veterinarian for the care of any of my animals - especially in an emergency situation. Read Less

I'm so thankful a place like this exists and for the people who work here. I brought my dog here at about 8p on a weeknight to be treated for poisoning. She was promptly taken back and treated upon arrival. The vet was very knowledgeable in telling us what could happen while providing us with a list of potential treatments including overnight monitoring plus each cost. We were able to see what it would cost at the minimum and maximum treatment. We ended up leaving her overnight for monitoring knowing she was in good hands. When I picked her up, the same vet followed up with me about her night and everything they did. The vet tech was very helpful in answering all my questions and making sure I understood exactly what I needed to do. Read Less

So grateful to know there is a place like this in the neighborhood. Our trip to the emergency center was not one we were looking forward to as our beloved Doberman, Bagheera, was at the end of his time due to toumers on his liver. He put up a good fight, but at about 4am, Friday morning we found him unable to stand due to swelling, and not wanting him to suffer we brought him into the center. The staff was very kind and handled our emotional situation in a very professional manner (and, while it was not something that mattered to is at that moment, the cost for their service and our dog's cremation after was unexpectedly low for an emergency center). I appreciate the staff being there when most people are still sleeping, they even sent us a sympathy card after. Thank you all, you will be recommended by us to anyone who needs emergency veterinarian services. Read Less

I took my cat here on a Saturday after 5 pm. My cat had some existing issues we had been dealing with for about a year and the problem had come to a head once again. Dr. Hannon examined him and even showed us the X-rays. He explained why the problem kept coming back and that it would likely never stop (adverse to what our normal vet had been telling us). It meant so much to actually know what was going on and that prolonging the inevitable was all we could do at this point. Knowing gave me a lot of closure even though we had to make the hard decision to take the pain away from him. The doctor and all the staff were so kind and patient with us. Considering it was an emergency, I had a great experience with Animal Emergency Center and I would recommend them to anyone that needs emergency services. My dog, Willow, was bitten by another dog and needed staples. They did a quick exam and gave me a price-range estimate on the cost. I appreciated knowing what we were getting into. They assured me that my dog was in capable hands and that they would call me to pick her up after the surgery. A few hours later, she was ready to be picked up. They brought her out to us and explained that everything went well. Then they gave us some antibiotics and pain medicine and they made sure that we understood how much and when to give her the medicine. They also sent her paperwork over to our regular vet so we could do a follow up appointment the next day with our vet. The staff at AEC care very much about animals and they understand that they are our fur babies. I hope to not have another emergency - but if I do, I know exactly where to go! Read Less

If you have an after hours emergency with your pet go here. We tried the Emergency Center on Central and had a horrible experience. Our animal emergencies almost happen after hours and we've been at the Animal Emergency Center on Summer at all hours. I am glad they are there!! The veterinarian was very thorough and explained the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, ensuing quality of life and cost offering a written estimate of the proposed treatment. Down to Earth, very understandable. The whole staff is extremely compassionate to owners and their pets. I chose to have our cat Forrest put down. Before the procedure they were able to check us out in the exam room so we wouldn't have to hold his lifeless body standing behind a glass wall waiting to pay. Who could think of this? They even provided us with a print of his paw and a custom box to take him home in and contacted our regular vet to inform them of Forrest's demise. Grace had already given them report. It's always at bad situation to have to go here but I can't imagine anything the Animal Emergency Center on Summer could have done to make the experience any less traumatic. We called in because my cat is acting very strangely and we weren't sure if he needed to be taken to the emergency vet or not. We explain he is hiding under the bed, and wont come out so we don't want to over stress him by forcing him out to bring him in if we don't need to. They would not give us any information or advice regarding his symptoms, or even listen to what they were, and instead insisted that we just needed to bring him in. You hope you never have to go see them, but if you do, these folks do such an awesome job with emergency care. They're the closest emergency vet to my house, so I have them on speed dial and call them every few months with an "is this an emergency?" question. They always take the time to talk to me and try to figure out what the problem is, and only two out of probably like 30 different calls have they told me I needed to bring my dog in. Both times they took care of the problem and everything was fine. The other times they've given me instructions for what I could do at home, if it wasn't an emergency situation. Emergency care is not cheap, but their prices are fair. They do all they can to help homeless animals as well. I just cannot thank them enough for their endless patience with freaked out pet parents like me. Read Less

My husband and I are traveling across the states with our two dogs. We stopped in Memphis for the night and discovered our dog, Ziggi, was bleeding from her paw. My husband bandaged her up but I was worried about infection so I searched for 24 hour animal care. I found Animal Emergency Center and we headed to the location. We were taken back after just 5 minutes of being in the lobby. Ziggi's vitals were taken and Dr. Ambrose conducted Ziggi's examination. Ziggi had a superficial cut on her paw. The staff bandaged her quickly and precisely. The staff was caring and knowledgable. We were on our way out after only around 40 minutes with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. The doctor even created a waterproof booty to put on Ziggi's foot when we walked her in the rain. When I saw my dog in pain, 2000 miles from home, and at an hour that any normal Veterinarian office would be closed I was frantic but I found so much comfort at this emergency center. Our dogs are our children and it was so nice to have the care Ziggi needed in such a difficult situation. Thank you to Dr. Ambrose and the staff for treating my sweet baby, Ziggi.Read Less

Animal Emergency Center

Memphis, Tennessee
(32)
3767 Summer Ave
Memphis Tennessee 38122

There was no compassion and sounded like they just wanted us to just bring him there so they could charge us an arm and a leg for something that could be nothing.
