Our dog, Macy, been a patient of Hillcrest Animal Hospital ever since Dr Goforth joined the practice. Knowing that Dr Goforth was retiring at the end of 2020, we made two visits in December, which included blood work to ensure that Macy had all of the necessary prescriptions, food and medicine, that would be needed for a smooth transition for our 14 year old dog with early signs of kidney disease, as well as arthritis due to multiple disc surgeries. Dr Goforth was an incredible vet, who always put our pet's health and well being, as her primary focus. Both our sons' pets WERE patients of Dr Goforth. The past two weeks have been a debacle with Hillcrest. We have been informed by Chewy that Hillcrest is not approving a medicine that Macy has been on for months. We were told that we needed to see one of their Vets before they approved the prescription. It is apparent that Hillcrest is more interested in generating revenue than doing what is in the best interest of our pet. We spent $2787 at Hillcrest last year, $494 in December. Giving Macy the best possible care is our priority, and Hillcrest has crossed the line. For Dr Goforth's patients, be aware of how you may be treated, moving forward. Read Less

Haven taken many pets here over the years I am done. They have gotten so busy the staff are very rude and short.. They seem to have lost sight as to why they got into veterinary practice to begin with. I am so dissappointed in this practice.. I have been talked down to and had my pet mishandled by vets there. Have had my pet pay the price this time. Didn't even get a sympathy card . I wouldn't recommend this vet to anyone who truly cares about their pet. If staff is in a bad mood it will be taken out on your and your pet. I promise you that. They have lost all personal touch. All sincerity and respect for their clients. (Human & furry) There is one vet there (Dr. Ledbery) who is one of the most wonderful vets there is. But it is difficult to get an appt with him and you still have to put up with the rude, disrespectful staff. Not worth it. Read Less

I came to this place because of Dr Steven Ambrose, as he was at my previous vet office.  But if you have a staff that is incompetent, all the great pet bedside manner is for naught.  I have now left Hillcrest because they neglected to send me critical reminders for 3 of my pets ( that I know of), one that hadn't been seen in 2 years.  Not acceptable.  You depend on your vet to remind you and the lackadaisical response from the front desk (" Oh yeah, a couple of people said they didn't get postcards") is inexcuseable.   REALLY?  And that is acceptable to you???  I'm done with this place. I used Hillcrest for my personal pets many years ago. I loved the Vets, but the front desk staff were always rude. That rudeness cost them. I formed a rescue. As my personal vet hospital I thought I would give them first refusal. I went in and was referred to the "office manager" when I asked about a rescue rate. Many Vets give rescues reduced rates due to the charitable nature of it, and because rescues do a volume business. Not to mention the tax benefits. I was laughed at my the woman and told it was hardly worth their time. (It wasnt the refusal but the laughing and denigrating manner in which she handled it..as if I were beneath contempt for asking) Great, I went elsewhere, am much happier, and I spend on the average of $12,000 a year on vet services for my rescue. In the 8 plus years since that happened that is close to $100,000 in actual revenue lost, as well as $100,000 in charitable tax deductions they can take by reducing their rate to a 501(c)3- by a rude "employee" who was on a power trip. I guess that is laughable after all, just not in the way she meant it. Read Less

I have taken my two boys here three times, twice for the vet and once for boarding. Every time we have brought them here the customer service has been terrible. Everyone who has worked with our boys has been rude, barely acknowledging our boys or my husband and me. Our boys can get excited and hyper, but they are the sweetest and friendliest dogs you can imagine. They are pit/lab mixes. I cannot imagine a veterinary hospital being rude to animals and their humans for a reason as ridiculous as breed, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that this is not the reason why they treat all of us the way they do.We took them there for boarding last night and they were very nervous. The two woman who got them from us to take them in the back did not say one word and literally dragged them to the back room, with absolutely no attempt to make them comfortable. When I asked the lady at the front desk about this the next day and letting her know we were concerned about our boys, she said "they were probably just busy and we needed to drop them off earlier"... We dropped them off and hour and a half prior to closing... And saying hello and petting the boys to make them feel comfortable would take only a couple of seconds, so that is hardly an excuse. When we brought them back home one of our boys went to the bathroom 7 times in a thirty minute period, leading me to believe they were not let out of their kennel at all this morning.Needless to say we will not bring our boys back to this facility. I hope they do not treat all animals and their humans that go in there the way they did us! Read Less

I foster for a local rescue that uses Hillcrest for some of their veterinary needs. Overall, I have had nothing but great experiences here. The staff have been helpful in more ways than one. My foster came in from MAS with a pretty bad yeast infection on his skin, making him itch everywhere, and the receptionist that morning came out into the waiting area to give him treats and help him get comfortable. The vet techs in the room would sit on the floor with him because he was scared of men. And the little old lady in boarding was so sweet to him when he finished his FHO. They've gone above and beyond for most everything. My only concern and the reason for the docked star is that the lobby receptionists tend to get snappy when they get busy. I expect that they must get a lot of customers that are in a hurry or rude overall because they did act as if I was taking up too much of their time and they had other things to do. This only happened one morning, but considering my dog had just had surgery and I needed care instructions, the way they 'handled' me was pretty inappropriate. Aside from that one disappointment, they've been wonderful overall and my foster baby is well on his way to being the healthy boy he was born to be! Read Less

Read Less
