My dog is 14 years old, and I have been taking her to McGehee Clinic since she was a puppy. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the doctors are wonderful. Dr. Rush is patient, kind and thoughtful. She answered all of my questions and calmed me down after I brought my big furbaby in their for an emergency. Rhonda did an excellent job with my dog. She stayed with her and comforted her during her sedation-and was the first person to comfort her when she woke up. She did an excellent job cutting her nails and providing excellent follow up care. We have been bringing our dogs to McGehee for years. They truly care about the small stuff and go above and beyond when it comes to the pets that come to see them. Everyone in the office is incredibly friendly and they always make the experience a convenient one, doing whatever is helpful for us. Also, the way they handled and helped our family when we had to put our dog down, they were (are) top notch from start to finish, and even until weeks after when they called to check on us. We moved a few years ago, but didn't change clinics. It is worth the drive for us. We trust them. They really are an amazing vet. Read Less

We were extremely pleased at the caring service that we received in an emergency situation with our black lab, Lucy.  The staff and doctor stayed after closing time to help us, and we are so appreciative.  They even called the next morning to check on Lucy!  And by the way, we were not even an existing customer!  I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone. After relocating to East Memphis, I was searching for a vet for my two rescue dogs, a 2 year old greyhound and a 5 year old labrador mix. A friend recommended McGehee's, so I took them there and have had all great experiences with them. I've heard that McGehee's has been a longstanding vet in the area with a good reputation, and from my experiences, I can understand why.Greyhounds as a breed have some particular needs, and the doctors at McGehee's were immediately familiar with those needs and took great care of my both my greyhound and my lab mix. They also caught something that could have easily been overlooked by a less thorough vet and it was caught early enough to avoid it turning into a much bigger (and more expensive) problem.The receptionists and staff were all extremely kind and friendly and I always got right in exactly at my appointment times which was important to me because I took time off from work to bring my dogs in.All in all I'd very easily recommend McGehee's to anyone who asked and I'll keep my dogs going there as long as I live in the Memphis area. My dog needed cruciate surgery on her knee. We are new to Memphis, having moved here from Michigan. We researched to find the best vet and McGehee sounded perfect. We soon found that to be true! The staff is kind, attentive and kept us regularly updated on our baby's progress while she was there. Our dog had the same cruciate surgery done to her opposite knee a couple years before we moved and the incision was 5" long and stapled, creating a large scar. At McGehee her incision is hardly 2" long and sutured as flat and even as if it's barely a scratch! Read Less

This vet clinic is amazing. Dr. McGehee is an outstanding surgeon & diagnostician, and the other vets are top notch as well. All of the techs, staff, and doctors are great, caring, and compassionate. Everyone there, in contrast to other vets, will listen to you and your concerns for your pet, candidly discuss the diagnosis & prognosis, & help you decide on a course of treatment. They have cared for 4 of my cats in the past (cured one of a highly-aggressive cancer with multiple complications that were solved, too), and are caring for 2 of my cats now. No better vet clinic in the Memphis area. You will be amazed. Read Less

I am very thankful for the excellent care my cat has received from Dr. O'Brien. She has managed my cat's care through several months after a diabetes diagnosis, and I am happy to say that with Dr. O'Brien's careful guidance, my sweet kitty seems now to be in remission. We switched to McGehee for our cats after a bad experience at Eastgate Animal, and after our first visit I knew we made the right choice. Our calico Trish is a furry little terrorist and they were so patient with her. She got a thorough exam, shots and grooming (under sedation). When I came to pick her up, her doctor met with me and gave me a "report card" on how her checkup had gone. The doctor and the techs were all so nice and understood how important my cats are to me, which means a lot. They're definitely all animal lovers. When we took our kitten Penny to be spayed they called regularly throughout the day to update us on her status and assure us that she was in good hands. When we picked her up she had two new toys in her carrier - she had grown attached to them during her stay, so they let her keep them! A few days after her surgery I was concerned about Penny's stitches, and even though they were about to close they let me rush her over and have her incision looked at. She was fine but they gave me a cone (at no charge) which I'm sure was more for my reassurance than for Penny's stitches.I know when I take my cats there that they're in good hands, which is comforting. Also the facilities are very clean, and there's a talking bird who lives in the waiting room and makes visits there interesting (unfortunately to my cats' terror). The location is great and there is plenty of parking. Being next door to Gibson's is also a bonus ;) Read Less

Above and beyond the call...My dog, Mr. B,  just underwent his second tumor removal surgery in two weeks. The care he received was excellent (he's on the mend as I type).Additionally, I cannot say enough about the "bedside manner" of not only the physician (who came in to perform the surgery and called me with reassurance afterward--even though he was simultaneously tending to a family emergency of his own) but all of the staff, from the front desk folks to the fella who led him back from the waiting area.AND they're letting me spread the payments out over time so that cost is not prohibive in getting the necessary care for my boy.
