A great place to checkup on you pets health, boarding and other related needs. I have used Pet-Vax for many years, especially the Rains Rd. location ( closer to me ). This place is always well staffed and courteous. They remind you of your next upcoming visits and even call you to check upon your pet after a visit. This location will always hold a spot deep in my heart, it is where my American Fox Hound, my beautiful "Ms. Penny" went to sleep in my arms. They did everything to save her. Penny's 14 years & 20 days had cought up with her. She was a very humble pet. Pet-Vax will truly see to your pet needs and couch you along the way with their medicines and how to administer them. Absolutely love PetVax Southwind! Everyone is so friendly! I have a crazy chocolate lab and they've even offered to help me get him in and out of the car before. They always take good care of my sweet crazy boy and I love the convenience of being able to drop off for check up, vaccines, or a bath when needed. They even call sometimes to check on him after treatment for things and are good at reminding you when you're due for vaccinations!! Also more cost effective! Highly recommend! Today we took our sweet kitty to the Poplar location fearing the worst. Our vet was sweet and caring with her and helped us make the best decision for our cat. After taking her home to say our goodbyes, we brought her back and they gently helped us through our loss. I been taking my baby to them for 4 years. Bad service and customer service front desk bad. My baby been biting her paws for 2 years they claim they don't know what's wrong after I paid $110 for medicine that didn't work. We took my very scared kitty to get his shots updated, they were kind enough to quickly put us in a room away from all dogs! The room even had a sound machine that drowned out the barking in the lobby! Then an amazing technician named Megan came in and used her magical touch and made a friend out of my frightened cat! She is definitely their car whisperer and we will specifically request her in the future! We had a great receptionist, too! I've always been pleased with the care my fur children have received here. Our pets have been seen for vaccinations, annual check ups and emergency care when needed. I had my cat spayed at the East Memphis location, and she was still going into heat. So I took her back in, knowing that some ovaries can be missed in cats sometimes. I just wanted them to make sure she had all of them removed. They were not willing to look at her any further than I physical exam. I took her to another vet who removed the rest of her ovaries. Even with an appointment at other veterinary offices, you often have to wait longer than you do as a walk-in at Petvax. I have been a customer of PetVax for 6 years. Every year, the prices increase while the service declines. In fact today, they didnt even have a doctor on-staff that could write prescriptions. My wife took my dog to the Southwind location so we could refill his anxiety medicine. They told him that a doctor would need to do a $50 evaluation, no problem. Then, after the exam, they hand my wife an estimate for a $170 blood test (which needs to be done before they refill the prescription). Side-stepping the necessity of this blood test, my wife declined. They would not waive the $50 fee even though they NEVER told her that the blood test was a requirement. In other words, she wouldnt have consented to a $50 charge if she knew that a $170 blood test was also needed. One of the employees explained to her that this is how medicine works. I called and spoke to the administrator, Angela about the issue. She felt that the acceptable response is to argue with me throughout the conversation, and telling me twice, sorry you feel that way. We are pulling both of our dogs from their care, and our family and friends will follow suit. I hope they enjoy that $50. Be careful of this company and their tactics.Read Less

We have a 12 yr old King Charles Spaniel. She is Blind. She is Deaf. She walks with obvious pain. She has labored breathing. She is incontinent. She often loses control of her bowels.We make the difficult decision to euthanize. Our family says goodbye to her. My wife takes her to Petvax on Raines. Even with all of the above symptoms and her advanced age they refused to euthanize her. Instead they said that she must undergo $500 of tests and must be treated to the tune of $100/month in drugs and for what? Will she see? No. Will She hear? No. Wil she walk?  - Only slightly better.She is a 12 year old, very sick, very old dog and Petvax is more worried about making money off of her suffering than doing what is right.No sale. I boarded my cat there and they promised to keep her separate from the dogs, but they did not. I came back after a 4 day trip to find her right next to a dog and petrified and noticeably thinner. It took weeks to return her to normalcy as she was beyond stressed. While many pet owners have dogs and may not relate to this story the point is that they were DISHONEST and if they lied about this to me imagine what else they may be omitting the truth about.
