The clinic’s techniques are species-specific and emotion-based to prevent overload, adjusting the tolerance levels of each animal in a safe environment. The approach considers the owners as full partners, without exception. Veterinarians consider pet behaviors at home, like sleeping with family members and responses to new textures, for clinical assessments. North Shelby Animal Hospital provides medical support through preventive planning diagnostics, internal medicine nutrition advisement, dental care, and multi-species senior pet wellness programs. Each procedure is timed carefully to ensure that the animal is able to remain calm and present. Some animals undergo several diagnostic sessions as well as a preparatory program for anxiety prevention. Exotic pets have custom handling techniques designed to minimize the risk of injuries and stress. Families are provided with signal-based suggestions post-appointment, such as monitoring pain expressions and sound/activity overstimulation, assessing interactions for normalcy, etc. Each treatment plan has its own rhythm on when to wait, engage, and follow up. It used to be good. Now there's new staff and the facility has just gone down hill from there. I eventually decided to change vets. The biggest problem I experienced was lack of attention. My dog has gone to this vet since he was 6 weeks old he's 5 years old now. The staff couldn't keep his records up to date. For example my German Shepherd only had one testicle drop during puberty. They had no records of this when we took him in to be neutered. This can be very dangerous for a dog it can lead to cancer. The vet never once informed me of this, I had to learn from a different doctor. After he was neutered they didn't assemble an e collar until we had arrived to pick him up. They never check his ears or do any other body inspection other than the ones that cost money like stool samples etc. 3 weeks after the neutering I received my new updated medical card for my pet to find out the information was incorrect, he was still labeled as not neutered. Finally I had one of my dogs receive his rabies shots only to be given the wrong County tag. I was given a Shelby County tag when I live in Tipton County. Also the shelby County tag cost 11 dollars more. When asked for a refund they will only credit the money back to their vet after we've transfer to a different vet. So the only way to get our money back for their mistake is to come back and spend more money. I'm sorry I refuse to come back to this facility after so many mistakes within 6 months. This clearly has to be a staff issue, as I stated before this was my dogs vet for 4 years prior. If anyone else has any issues I suggest going somewhere else because it seems to only be getting worse over time.Read Less
