Love this place! Vet care, boarding, grooming. Only minus is that they have grown their clientele and it makes getting appointments days out. However, you can come as a walk in.

I am new to the Mt. Juliet area and took my old pug to another local vet who did very little to remedy his worsening ear infections. After nearly losing him to a ruptured ear drum, I went for a 2nd opinion at Countryside Animal Hospital. Thank Goodness! After culturing both ears and prescribing appropriate meds, my old pug is like a young dog again!! They are the BEST in the area...I owe his life to them and their professional and kind treatment. You have to watch them or they start doing services that you don't ask for or need. Recently had my son take in my dogs for annual shots and they duplicated kennel cough vaccinations that they had given only six weeks before and performed heartworm tests when we buy the monthly meds from them. I would like to start by saying, I normally don’t give places negative reviews. I had been going to countryside with my 2 dogs for over 2 years. I loved the vets and have no issues. Until both of my dogs had to be hospitalized over 2 days because one of them ate a pack of orbits gum and I wasn’t sure which one did it. Fast forward to when I pick them up and over $1500 bill. I get my dogs home and one of them has severe urine burns on the back of his legs. They are bleeding and oozing. I call up there and they tell me to bring him back in and then the vet try’s to pass it off as an allergy. It wasn’t an allergy. They make me pay for the mess to treat it, over $50 and I go home. I spent that night holding my dog in a bathtub while he shook profusely in pain running cool water down the backs of his legs. I call them the next morning because I’m just upset and I talk with their office manager and she admits they were urine burns, apologizes and offers to give the $50 plus for the meds to treat back but nothing else... seriously!?!?!? It took weeks for him to get better and now he has nerve damage in his back legs from their negligence allowing him to sit in his urine for days. And you know, I didn’t write a bad review then. I write it now because my other dog was having a severe reaction to something, was having trouble breathing and welting all over his body and the receptionist at the desk refused to let him be seen by a vet because we were an “inactive patient.” They were open during business hours 15 till 7 and refused to help my dog because I transferred vets due to how they treated my animal. The absolute worst vet all about pumping money I have ever encountered. Watch where you take your babies. I wouldn’t recommended Countryside to anyone. Read Less

The old vets that use to run this place were great. Unfortunately there are a bunch of young and "green" vets that have very little experience. TWICE they have diagnosed my dogs wrong. The first time happened when I brought my 15 week puppy home. She had her shots and got deathly sick very quickly. They ran blood work, x-rays, and everything else. They told me she had GI upset. Well fast forward a couple days and I take her to another vet and come to find out she had canine flu. My puppy almost died. Literally. How can you confuse GI upset with the canine flu?? The second time was with my older girl. I came in because she had a small lump. They assured me it was cancer. I took her to get a second opinion and turned out to be a big zit!! They drained it in front of me and everything. Sorry, I was once a loyal customer but now I can no longer trust you all. You almost killed my puppy and you almost charged me for an expensive surgery my old dog did not need. I would like to think that maybe the vets are just young and inexperienced but now I am starting to wonder if they are just plain stupid. Read Less

We had gone to Mobley vet for almost 20 years in East Nashville before moving to Mt Juliet. Multiple people recommended this vet so we had Mobley send a copy of our records and made an appointment. Upon arrival we waited almost 1 hour to see the vet. Then they told us they had not received our records from Mobley. I called Mobley and they said they sent them but would send again and confirmed fax number and then called when they got fax confirmation. The vet didn't look at the records and was rude. They were not friendly towards our dog but I thought to give them a second chance and made an appointment with our cat.  When I got to the office they said they had no history of the medical records. I explained I was there when they sent them and I know they had them. I had Mobley send them again. The experience with the vet was mediocre. We buy our pet meds online and went to order heart worm prevention and flea control and they wouldn't sell the to us because - guess what? The vet had no record of us ever going to their establishment. We had to switch back to Mobley and I am happy to travel the extra 20 minutes for the care and consideration they provide their clientele. I have five dogs of my own and I have been a customer of Dr Parsleys before countryside animal hospital was ever built. I will not be returning for my veterinary care anymore. I have many reasons for my rating but I will go  with what happened to day. I had an emergency with my pet which I explained to the "emergency" phone call answerer. And they decided NOT to help me even though I am a client. My baby died because of you. I hope you are happy. Because I had toDrive 20 extra minutes to river gate, my baby died. Thank you SO much for your lack of compassion. This is not the first time they have refused service in an emergency situation. It won't be the last. Remember folks, lower price isn't always the best choice! I was aware when I called that there is an emergency clinic in river gate.... that is 40 minutes AWAY from me. That's why I called the one place I knew I was a client with and tried to get their help. Fat lot of good that did for me and my baby. I've been taking my husky mix here since I got her 2 years ago. They all seemed nice and concerned about what was best for her.....then she developed a lump on her arm and they kept telling me to let them cut it off. I did not go for it at the first few requests, because it didn't seem to be bothering her at all. But finally, I gave in and let them remove it. They said it would cost $245. She went in for the surgery, and they billed me more than double, and even worse they didn't remove the entire tumor, AND it's now infected. When I try to get answers as to what's the best course of action to get her healed and back to normal, I get rushed responses with no specific answers..... wondering if they even know......I'm done, I'm searching for a new vet Read Less

If I could give zero stars I would.  I had a situation where my dog was severely dehydrated from throwing up so much that they told me I should have her stay overnight with an IV to replace her fluids.  Or I could take her home, try to get her to drink and give her pills.  The overnight stay would cost me 300.00 and was due up front.  I didn't have that money available to me.  So I sat there bawling my eyes out and this vet gave me the coldest stare I've ever experienced before in my life.  It reminded me of the movie"Dead Man Walking" where the woman who administered the shot to kill someone on death row had the same cold look.  So I went home bawling all the way not knowing if my dog would make it through the night.  Mind you, I'd been taking BOTH my dogs there for 5 years and have never NOT paid.  I couldn't believe it.  I would have been good for the money.  It's not my purpose in life to screw people over but it apparently it is there's.  I have not stepped foot in there again.I have the right place and we have never gone to another vet in 5 years so I can assure you we have records with you.  Two dogs.  Giblet and Daphne.  I don't know why you would respond to my review that you have no records of us except that you are just trying to deny anything negative being reported about your place. I've been taking all 3 of my dogs to countryside animal for 5 years. We moved cities and I drive by 3 other vets to take them there. As of today I'm done with that. My dog's labor is stalled. I called to get advice and the secretary told me to bring her in and be prepared to pay $2000 for a c section. To quote her "I don't mean to make this about money but you will have to pay us before we would do anything." This is a complete 180 from the care and treatment we have received there before. First of all, they have always been very reasonably priced and concerned about my pets as if they were their own. I would rather take the risk and go to an emergency vet where I will probably pay a fraction of this price and not have to deal with the blatant price gouging and greed now being exhibited by people I used to trust. I you read additional reviews you will see this exact same scenario has played out before. I'm not sure if this practice has changed hands or if their recent expansion has caused them to believe that lining their pockets is better than patient care, but I'm done with them. Read Less

This place is absolutely amazing! I created an account just so I could brag about them. I originally brought my cat here after having a horrible experience with another vet. These people genuinely care. They will come in after hours, give you constant updates, and bend over backwards for your furry best friend. Over the period of 5 years, we have brought 6 cats and a dog in and recommended countless people to them. When Gremlin got a tract infection, they called me constantly to give me updates and let me come in and spend an hour with him while he was hospitalized there. The prices are reasonable and, as a college student, I sincerely appreciate that they let me know what they will be doing and the price before it happens. I feel so good about taking my babies here. After years of using their services for the canine and feline members of my family, I would cross 3 counties for the expertise and loving care found in the vets and staff of Countryside Animal Hospital. My experiences include both new puppies and kittens and very geriatric dogs and cats. Prices are more than competive and wait time is short or non-existent. If I have ever had to wait, it was due to an emergency that came in and I would gladly wait to put a sick or injured pet first. Even that time was only a few minuites as scheduling is so expertly done. My cat lived to be 23 years old under their care and was pain-free and medically sound under Dr. Parsley's medications right up to the day she passed. The choices for geriatric patients (the animals) are presented to you that range from simple lifestyle changes, medications, and the most advanced hospitals in and out of state to inform you of every possible procedure available for your aging pet. I have called after hours to be immediately connected with Dr. Parsley (I switched my meds with my small breed dog) instead of wasting precious time with a Poison Control and then having to go to a Emergency Pet Center. Before I came in contact with Countryside Animal Hospital, I have had to use Pet Emergency Clinics that were far away and the cost was extremely high to skyrocked. With Countryside, you have immediate care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year since you can be connected with a vet and they will come in. Of course, this service is a little higher than regular office visits, but tragic animal accidents and illnesses rarely happen on schedule. And, when the time comes, putting an animal to sleep as I have done once with Dr Day and once with Dr Parsley is done with such compassion, love, and devoted service to the pet owner that it softened the burden of grief in a way I have never experienced with any other clinic. Also, their fees for that service are cheaper than any other I have experienced. On second thought, I would probably cross 5 counties and 3 rivers for the love, compassion, and expertise of everyone connected with Countryside Animal Hospital. You will leave with a healthier pet and a passel of new friends.Linda Haggard Read Less

Dr. Parsley has exceeded the level the care provided by any other vet that I have visited. I have a six year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and Dr. Parsley and his staff have routinely exceeded the standard of care that I have experienced with other vets in Nashville, Denver, and Richmond. I am very sorry to hear about anyone losing their dog, though the review that was written about ""complacent-dog died"" is not at all consistent with the service, care for the animals and attention to my dogs health and welfare that Dr. Parsley and his staff have consistently provided me whenever I call or bring my dog in. My dog constantly tries and sometimes successfully eats and socks and other cloth objects, and Dr. Parsley's approach has always been explain his diagnosis, possibly options, and then let the pet owner decide they want to do and has never been dismissive about concerns I have over my pets behavior or health. Whether I bring my dog in for something serious as potential GI blockage, or simply want to pick up additional flea and tick medication Dr. Parsley and his staff always have made sure that my dog has been properly taken care of. MY DOG DIED - I WON'T GO BACK. I took my dog to Countryside 9/29 because he hadn’t eaten for a few days. Dr. Parsley did some blood work but couldn’t find anything & told me he ate something that didn’t agree with him and that I didn’t need to bring him back until his shots were due. I called the next week, they told me to feed him chicken and rice. I called again the next week; they told me he was being a finicky eater. So I gave them a list of what might have been wrong as I looked up all the different reasons on the Internet. I went in the next day. This was 2 weeks and 2 days after the first appointment. First they checked the stool for parasites - turned out negative. I thought they were going to send me home so I said, “You have to find it or he’ll die”. So they started going through my list. He had a high temp and fever, a large mass on his spleen and was severely anemic. I don’t know why Dr. Parsley didn’t take his temp the first appt. That should be standard practice when a dog is sick. I didn’t even know what a tumor on a spleen was but I feel like I diagnosed it.The mass was so large I had to get it out; it could be cancer. He was also severely anemic and needed a blood transfusion. That was on a Saturday but I didn’t want to leave him all weekend so I agreed to bring him back Monday. I took him back Monday morning. Leaving him was the hardest thing I ever did. Partly because I was questioning them at this point but I did call and talk to Dr. Gilliam that morning and I like her, she is the one who finally ran all the tests from the list I brought in. I asked if she had performed the surgery before and with success. She said yes. I felt like I didn’t have time to explore other options. He came out of surgery, they gave him the transfusion, he was recovering well but she thought I shouldn’t come in that night. I went to see him the next morning & again in the evening. He was doing better and I got to walk him outside & spend an hour. Dr. Parsley told me he was out of the woods when I asked & that I could probably bring him home the next day. They called me first thing the Wednesday & told me he had passed during the night. They thought his heart gave out. I went in & they did let me spend as much time as I wanted to say goodbye. They did let me visit after surgery, that means something and it would be much harder if I didn’t have that time. I had him cremated and he is home now.I don’t know if the outcome would have turned out differently, but how am I ever going to know. If they would have explored or even so much as taken his temperature when I first brought him in & given antibiotics then, his little body would have been stronger. They shouldn’t have sent me home. This type of cancer grows extremely fast. Maybe he wasn’t anemic then or maybe the tumor wasn’t so large. He vomited during the night and I wasn’t told that, I read it in the transcripts. The biopsy came back benign with no signs of a splenic tumor. That’s not saying another part of the mass wasn’t malignant but again, I will never know. I requested a copy of the test results and xrays so when I went to pick them up, Dr. Gilliam went over everything with me as no one had before.I lost my cat a little over a year ago under their care. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone back at that time but they are nice and I trusted them. I just feel Dr. Parsley is complacent. I want someone who will go the extra mile, someone who understands how much we love them. Not someone who won’t even apologize or look me in the eye after it happened.Sometimes you have to wait quite a while, but they have fair prices, it’s easy to get an appt and it’s comfortable for a vet. Although I won’t be going back, I want to be fair & list pros & cons. Read Less

I found a dog at the Mt. Juliet Bark Park one night. A storm was rolling in so I couldn't leave the little pup she was very young. I took her home and a friend of mine helped me in a search for her forever home. She started showing symptoms of sickness so we took her to Countryside. She was tested for parvo and unfortunatly she had it :( My friend and I pitched in for the treatment at the hospital ( at a very reasonable price for the kind of attention she needed) With the help of the Countryside staff and Dr. Parsley Josie made a full recovery and is happily with her family at her new foreever home!!!

Thanks Countryside! Read Less
