Even though our Baby Sassy passed and went to the “Rainbow Bridge”, Dr. Honey was the most compassionate veterinarian I have ever experienced. He and the staff at Barfield Animal Hospital treated us with the utmost sincere care and concern for our current situation of our 15 year old "Angel". The staff at Barfield Animal Hospital are as kind and thoughtful as they come. My wife and I have taken our three dogs here for many years, and we continue to drive to Murfreesboro from Nashville whenever we need to see a vet. Last week I took my dog cali in for an infection that was causing her much misery. The vet I spoke with was very rude and took lightly her condition. He treated her ear infection saying she should be good as new in a few days. After surprising us with a 200 dollar bill for a simple ear drain she did not get better. I called back to find out what was going on. I only got rudeness and was hung up on for questioning their treatments. If I could give zero stars I would. This is the WORST vet you could ever take your animal to! They charged $185 to not even fix my dog's ear infection. Mind you they sprung the $185 on me at checkout and when I was $19 short tried keeping my animal until I brought the $19 back. They are very unprofessional. When I called after taking my dog to another vet,that would charge me $63 dollars to fix her ear infection that they didn't fix, I called and spoke to the vet who said he feels he did nothing wrong and hung up on me. While visiting from out of town our 7 yr old maltipoo became ill. We called Saturday morning and had an appointment scheduled for 10. All the staff was so friendly and helpful. "edited" Due to a phone call to my son that you'd bring suit for leaving a negative truthful experience review, which I made, not him. So here is a revised plain and simple experience review: The reason for a negative review was because both my vets receptionist (I, as well as my son and his girlfriend, was standing there as she spoke to your receptionist) called and I called also and we were both refused pups treatment records until the remainder of the bill paid was in full. It was almost office closing time on a friday and they could not treat the pup without that information so he would of had to go a lengthy time without additional treatment. The receptionist was firm, "no money, no records." The pup in life risk needed additional parvo treatment and records were critically needed for another vet to do so. I have been to this vet on and off for the past 9 years. Back then I would have given 5 stars, even with the higher cost that this place charges. But each time I go back, my experience gets worse. The folks here are mediocre at best, they do not do as they say they will. I mean can't even get a phone call back from them, have to keep calling in. This is after paying for treatments that do not work, these folks are for sure rookies and seem to start at the bottom till they luckily fix a poor animal. Dr Honey is a wonderful vet - very knowledgeable, thorough and interested in continuing education. We have a new Great Dane puppy, a breed prone to bloat/torsion which can be fatal. As a preventative measure, it's common to do surgery to tack the stomach so that it cannot torsion. There are different approaches to this surgery and Dr. Honey was eager to check to see what the currently recommended protocol is before going forward. Every time we've had our dogs & cats into the office, we've been very happy with the experience, the care and thoughtfulness, as well as the cost for visits, medications, procedures and foods. Dr. Barker is her primary doctor, but we have seen Dr. Tepp and Dr. Honey too. There is a reason that they do not post their prices online and it is because they will quote you a price and then change it on you! I needed to board my two dogs while on vacation. They were also in need of shots. I took them to Barfield Animal Hospital and was quoted $348. I paid a $300 deposit and offered to pay the additional $48 upfront. The lady at the front desk said to wait until I picked them up, because depending on the results of the fecal test, the price might be a little more or a little less. Her statement reinforced the fact that the price she quoted me was including their exam and shots. Upon picking up my dogs, my balance was $246!!!!! The dogs spent exactly the amount of time I indicated and the basic shots for boarding. No additional medical treatment was necessary and their fecal results were negative. When I questioned the lady, she said that the $348 was the cost of boarding and if I liked, I could speak to the manager on Monday. She offered no apology for the miscommunication but rather smirked, blew me off and went on to the next customer picking up her dogs. If there cannot be clear communication about something as simple as a price quote, then I question the quality of their services and will never take my pups back again! Total price: $546!!!!!
