My dog got into a fight with another dog. Foxy has undergone several surgery's and hydrotheraphy sessions over the past four weeks (90%) of that time in their care....I thought my dog was going to die. But they saved her. Read! Great people and good service. Just one issue!!! I took my dog in for teeth cleaning and extraction. During the review process of my quote I was told extractions are 10 to 50 dollars. From simple to worse case. So they quoted me 150 just in case they had to extract multiple teeth. ONE TOOTH. One tooth was pulled but because it was decaying badly they decided to charge me the $150 price! That is just ridiculous. First I'm told 50 dollars worse case per tooth. Disappointed in my experience here. We've been taking our dog Annie here for two years. Today we brought her in for a teeth cleaning, and they decided they needed to extract "a few" teeth. They tried calling me but they had my number wrong in the system (which seems weird to me since we've been coming there for 2 years and my number hasn't changed at all). When they couldn't get in contact with me, they decided to extract 13 TEETH from my dog's mouth without my permission. Aside from this, the person working at the desk hardly knew anything about the situation, and didn't even know simple questions like how many teeth a dog has in it's mouth when I asked. I know that they had our dog's best interests at heart, but I was very upset that we were not consulted in the decision to remove so many teeth. They did try to remedy the situation by offering me a partial refund, which I appreciated, but was overall disappointed in a place that I thought I trusted. Read Less

And yes, dogs can bark sometimes. What a bunch stupid things for her to say. Talks stupid, looks stupid, acts stupid..... She must be stupid. Anyway, I love this place and I love these people. I have dogs AND a cat. The place is clean. The doctors are knowledgeable, and the staff is professional. If you come on a Saturday, I suggest getting there as early as possible. This is a highly rated veterinarian in Nashville. Their clinic is walk in except for surgeries. It's extremely affordable and the staff care deeply about animals while taking into account how the people who come in live and spend their money. I recommend this place to everyone! We brought in a stray cat we rescued who was pretty beat up, so they had to do some tests on it to see if it had feline aids. As soon as we said that he was a stray they started acting like he was already dead. They said we needed to buy a $5 carrier because we didn't have one, and that the test would take 10 minutes. About 20 minutes later a nurse came out and started talking to the receptionist that she wasnt sure about the test because it was a faint line, but that they were probably going to put hI'm down, loud enough for us and our kids to hear. Then after the receptionist told her we were here and cared about the cat, she came over to talk to us about it. I asked about them doing another test since it was a faint line and she wasnt sure, and they refused saying they weren't going to release him because he could spread it. All of us were really upset especially the kids. When I got home I looked it up on various websites so I could explain it to the kids, and what I saw is that they are supposed to do a diffrent secondary test to make sure it was positive, that cats with it can live and some times get rid of it. We were willing to take him in and care for him and instead they chose to kill him with the excuse that it could be painful and difficult for them to live, but I think that's better than killing him and erasing his potential to live a loved life. I am from Ohio and called this clinic on Saturday in Tennessee to inquire about the preventative measures they use in Tennessee to combat the tick population on dogs which we are now experiencing in Ohio. My current methods were not working. They took the time to talk with me and share what they use, knowing there was nothing to be gained from my becoming a client in their office. That just doesn't happen in today's fast paced environment. Their only concern was the welfare of my dog. They care about your pet's as if they were their own. Almost lost 2 of my dogs due to possible poisoning and they saved them both. Even cared so much about them and there condition that a rescue foundation contributed to our bill which was very nice and a big help financially. Treat you and your pet's like family. I love this place. Helpful and friendly staff. I have 2 dogs and they both had health issues a mere one week apart! They were great in providing me options in which treatments to get and which ones could wait until I had the funds to afford it. I am not happy with what they did to my dog at all.They opened him up for no reason. They stiched him back super bad, when I had take the stiches off they left a couple stiches they forgot to remove and irritated his skin. Got the treatment my dog needed. However, short haired lady at the front desk was rude. Asked what kind of "mix" my dog is and when i told her he's an American Bully she turned her nose up and walked off and made a snide comment about his cropped ears.Which I found strange seeing how they have a large statue of a dog with cropped ears in the waiting room.But wait,there's more! Then I was lectured on why I should neuter my dog because if I don't im a bad owner. I would have enjoyed this place much more if the staff didn't try so hard to impose their beliefs and ideology on me. If you own a bull breed dog be expected to be treated as if you are ignorant and a second class citizen. You are automatically assumed an irresponsible owner. So it's back to the drawing board to find a good vet in Nashville that doesn't have an agenda or want to impose their own personal beliefs.Read Less

I used to dread taking my animals to the vet. The vets office is just like a doctors office; cold, weird smells, fake-friendly people...not at Animal House. This is by far the best vet in Nashville and I have been to quite a few. The staff is super friendly, even the doctors. They always take plenty of time to explain what's going on with your animal, giving each one the attention it deserves. What's more, they call and check on your dog after you leave. Not to remind you to come in, but just to check and see how things are going. I have used Animal House as a resource for foster dogs as well as my own forever dogs. Thanks to them we caught developing kidney disease early in my blue heeler and I was able to get him on the appropriate food to correct it. They're great. Very friendly and helpful. And you gotta love the name.It's a small, independent operation with a personal touch. Their price for spaying is cheap compared with other places. When there was a seemingly unrelated problem after spaying, they quickly figured it out and fixed it.Before going to Animal House, I took my cat her to an expensive national chain of vets that gave her a clean bill of health. This is the only vet I take all my rescue kitties to for medical care.  The fact that they're willing to work with me, most often only charging me the "rescue rate" is amazing considering their standard prices are insanely affordable. The owner, Dr. Herd is truly amazing for several reasons: she sincerely cares about the welfare of animals - she REFUSES TO DECLAW cats (ONLY VET in town willing to sacrifice the highly profitable, barbaric service) b/c she knows it's morally wrong!!  To me, that speaks volumes of her character. I have seen many vets, and I have to say that Animal House is the best vet I have ever been to. You do not need an appointment, and the veterinarians are extremely knowledgeable and down to earth. They also recommended us to outside funding for vet bills, because we could not afford some of the bills. The techs are also very helpful and friendly. It's clean inside and doesn't smell at all and the staff are very friendly. The vet clinic helps a few nonprofit animal rescues. (They do wellness checks for Big Fluffy Dog Rescue and help Pet Community Center to fix hundreds of cats and dogs) I saw a bunch of foster people there with their dogs or cats. And I really love all the animal art! They have paintings, sculptures and all kinds of stuff! Its really cool.  They also have an enclosure for big, fluffy bunnies! And there's an office dog!
