I never write reviews about places but they did such an amazing job with my dog that I felt the need to. I called about 10 a.m. and they had me in the office at 11:30. Staff is wonderful and every encounter is done with care, but also efficiency so we are not stuck waiting with nervous animals for more than a minute or two. Can't say enough great things about Belmont. We've seen multiple Dr's here but primarily Dr. Eadie- we trust any provider and know our giant breed Berner, Hamlet, will be well cared for. They never perform unnecessary treatments/procedures and address our concerns in an appropriate manner. I moved to Nashville this past year and needed quick and confident service within a month for my 5 year old French Bulldog, Walter. Walter is a particularly special case as he has hemophilia and can be aggressive in his attempts to 'protect' me. The staff at Belmont Animal Hospital went above and beyond to care for, comfort and respect Walter and myself. I am truly thankful for their expertise, understanding and respect of my dog and I. While I love the clinic, the people at the desk, and Drs. Eadie and Sewell are fantastic, I think I've been put off by sticker shock. We took our little Pepperoni in for his yearly physical. You can see by the attached photos that between the office visit, tests, vaccines, and year of heart worm / flea and tick meds, the cost was $631! Not cool. That's more than I pay for my two kids' doctors visits and meds in a sick year!!!The invoice is shown in the picture. In short:50 - office visit77 - heart worm/fecal parasite tests23 - rabies tag for 3 years143 - 5 shots/vaccines70 - 1 year of Heartguard (for heart worm protection)268 - 1 year of Nexgard (flea and tick)631 - Total --are ya kidding me?!?!I'm told to check out Parker's Paws on White Bridge or Value Vet on Main in East Nashville. I called the latter and told them what we had done and they quoted me under $160--about a quarter of what I paid. I brought my cat in to be treated for constipation. Two days later I had to put him to sleep. Something went horribly wrong with the procedure to cause my cat to suffer in pain for two days. This included my cat mysteriously obtaining what appeared to be a completely useless paralyzed front right leg from the carpals downward. A lesson for all: Never let a rookie vet perform even the most basic procedure on your pet. Plus, you are paying full price for a rookie vs paying full price for an experienced vet. The rookie vet is not worth a fraction of full price. Two procedures were done: an enema and subcutaneous fluids inserted at the shoulders. I have to think the enema was done somewhat incorrectly. When I picked up my cat ~4 hours after the procedure, the staff expressed surprise that my cat was still oozing fluid out of his anus. Such a surprise implies something was done wrong with the enema. Too much fluid? Did the rookie vet puncture his intestinal lining? Does the rookie vet not know an older animal will have a less pliable colon wall? Did something go wrong with the sub-Q fluids? Perhaps after an undetermined number of additional botched procedures the rookie vet will advance to being a very good vet by the time he reaches the age of the other vets at Belmont animal hospital. Maybe not. Medical procedures require art & science. The rookie vet may have the training to grasp the clunky science of veterinary procedures, but I doubt he has approached the basic skills needed for the art of these procedures. I would not hesitate to schedule an appointment with the older vets, but I would never let their rookie vets (I define that as those with less than 10 years of experience) ever give any care to your pet. The older vets appear to be highly skilled and compassionate. Belmont Animal Hospital is not the only clinic that has hired a rookie vet. This can happen at any vet clinic. My review could be used as a guideline for any vet clinic you choose. Rookie vets are horrible. They lack the experience necessary to be considered a good vet. They need experience, but let them get that experience on someone else€s pet, who is not aware of the downsides of a rookie. Read Less

I had just the perfect appointment yesterday with Dr. Gilliam.  I inherited an old kitty (17 years old) and she needed a lot of care...she has long hair and had several hair mats and she also had ingrown toenails and overall messy pads on the bottom of her feet.  She also does not like leaving the house so she can be really grouchy and mean and even aggressive.  Dr. Gilliam and his team sedated her and cleaned her all up and monitored and kept me updated along the way.  They actually gave her a "lion cut" because her hair was so bad.  She is now the happiest cat in the world.  She loves her cut and they did a great job.  She looks really cute and I feel good that she is now feeling great and healthy.  I highly recommend Dr. Gilliam and team. The emergency service I received at Belmont Animal Hospital was really great. I drove to Nashville from IL with my 12yo olde english bulldogge, Harley, on a Thursday evening and had to get him to the vet right away. I called Belmont prior to getting there to let them know the situation. Once I got him there they took him back right away and I went into a room with Dr. Sewell after he examined Harley to explain what happened etc.  He made some recommendations and while I would love to do everything to save my dog I had to think of money as well. Dr. Sewell completely understood and checked on Harley again, etc... trying to keep a long story short... we thought he was ok to go back with me with a sedation protocol for the ride back home in 2 days.  however, after I saw Harley, I knew he wasn't ok... and then his breathing issue started up again. I had to end up making the decision to put Harley to sleep. I was sobbing and calling my dad and trying to comprehend what was all happening... Dr. Sewell and his staff were amazing and understanding all the while. The receptionist was super sweet and asked if she could give me a hug not only because of my grief but also because she knew I was there alone and would have to drive back to IL with ashes instead of my sweet boy. Love Belmont Animal Hospital. We've seen Drs. Eadie, Zika and Smith, and all of them have been fabulous with our puppies. They are always available to answer questions via phone during business hours and routinely call to check in after the pups have been in for a visit. Great, caring veterinarians. We had our first experience with Belmont yesterday, and it was wonderful. Reception was kind, the vet assistant took time to look our dog over and listened to our concerns, then when we were introduced to the vet he too was understanding. You know how sometimes you go to a vet and they brush your concerns off as "crazy dog owner who jumps at an itch"? That did not happen here, each of our worries were addressed specifically, and he didn't rush us out the door. I must admit, I have been one to jump from vet to vet over my time in Nashville to find a balance between affordability, knowledge, and a shared ideology on pet care. I am one who likes to make sure I am preventative, but do not believe in over medication or vaccination unless it makes sense. IThis vet was perfect for my needs for this. They understood this and did not seem to judge me.The office is clean and modern. The staff is kind. They emailed me a price list before I committed anything so that I could make sure I was prepared and not surprised or sticker shocked. They are a bit more expensive, than say Value Vet, but you get a nice facility and prices are in line with most other non-value vets. I recommend this vet for anyone who does not need a quick, ultra affordable test or one-off look. Read Less

I trust them with my fur baby Maine Coon cat. They are great about scheduling and are happy to accommodate rescheduling. They helped me so much when my cat got fleas and nothing seemed to work; they got her on SAFE medicine and they even recommended carpet cleaner. Such a great and caring staff! I had an emergency with my 6 week old puppy so I didn't have an appointment and they fit me right in :) they told me it would be a while before my puppy was seen and it wasn't long at all! The lady at the front desk was polite as well and I appreciated when she offered me a cup of coffee. The vet and vet tech were both very nice as well and the vet tech answered all questions and even gave me info packets. We've been going here for six months and I wouldn't take my dogs or cat anywhere else. We've taken both of our dogs here for extensive blood tests, vaccines and nail trims, all of which have been informational and quick. We recently adopted a cat, and Belmont has been great at keeping us up with his vaccines. They're also treating him for a parasite and seem very knowledgable about kitten problems. We see Dr. Eadie, who is by far our favorite vet we've had. We've seen a LOT of vets, but Eadie is the kindest and most knowledgable of both dogs and cats that we've seen. Very Impressed...I adopted a cat from a local shelter, only to realize 2 days later that something was wrong. I called Belmont Animal Hopspital, explained my situation, and they got me in that same afternoon. Not only did they fit me in, they stayed an hour after closing. Never once did I feel rushed and Dr. Sewell was very compassionate and throughly explained all the possibilities, options and possible outcomes.
