Dr Crisp's knowledge and experience with animals shows through her treatments and diagnosis. The building is dated, but you see the real value is in the doctor and her staff.

My 1 year old puppy was taken by a tech through an open door to be weighed on a scale visible to me at the front desk while I completed paperwork. The tech subsequently shut the door and I was refused entry into the exam room after asking the receptionist three separate times to be allowed to see my dog. The receptionist went back and asked the vet each time and stated the vet would come to get me when she was ready every time. The vet finally came out after she said she completed the entire exam without me present and without my consent. The vaccinations, blood test, and fecal test were supposedly completed, all under the premise that my dog was being weighed. I voiced how upset I was once she finally came to get me and the vet was totally out of it. She didn't remember the receptionist coming back and asking if I could be present three times and she did not allow me to ask any questions regarding the exam or other pertinent issues with regard to the puppy's health. In addition, I was unaware of what vaccines he was provided and that he was getting a blood test until after the exam was completed, at which time I was expected to pay for the exam in its entirety. I will not return and would not recommend this vet to anyone.Read Less

Cheekwood Animal Hospital is my favorite vet! When I first found my cat he was only seven weeks old, covered in ticks, under weight, and petrified. I took him as soon as possible to get a check up at Cheekwood, and they were very sweet and gentle with him. They gave me lots of advice and information about my little stray.
My parents had always taken their pets to Cheekwood, so I was not surprised by the great service and friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised though when I found how affordable my continuing visits were.
For a while I was living in another state and only visiting Nashville in the winter for a brief window. Bad experiences at other vets made me decide to time my cat's vaccines and annual check up so that I could continue to go to Cheekwood while I was in town.
Whenever I go in they are very thorough and helpful. They also ask me how my mom's cats are doing, especially since one of them is quite old. It's that kind of attention to detail that makes me feel like they really care about our pets well being.
Thanks Cheekwood!Read Less

OK, I have calmed down and want to clarify my previous review. DO NOT go to this animal clinic unless your pet can see Dr. Crisp. I took my pet there and she was given a clean bill of health. They said her teeth needed cleaning and this would be around 200.00. They assured me she needed no extractions. She also needed to be spayed which I paid for through Friends of Animals. Less than a month later, I took her in to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. This time it was Dr. Crisp. She discovered two mammary tumors and the technician pulled several teeth. Tooth extractions cost more than the tumor removal? I am grateful to Dr. Crisp for finding my babies tumors as she could have saved her life, definitely prolonged it, but it is frightening that the first vet did not find these tumors at her check up and it would have been great to have warning that this would be 1082.00 without spay.Read Less

FIND A VET YOU CAN TRUST! BEWARE of taking your animal here!!!! I have used this animal clinic through the years with a few of my animals and it was always a positive experience. I am not sure what has changed, but I took my Westie there A FEW WEEKS AGO for a check up. They said she was fine. I needed to have her spayed and she needed her teeth deep scaled. They assured me absolutely no extractions were needed. Today when I took her there to have the recommended work done they contacted me to say she had tumors that they saw before doing any surgery and she would need several extractions at anywhere from 70.00 to 150.00 PER TOOTH. The original estimate was 189.00 and now the estimate was 880.00. Why did they not find these outwardly visible tumors at her check up A FEW WEEKS AGO? They saw them today while trimming hair to do her surgery. How could 4 teeth go bad in three weeks? When I asked, the response was "that wasn't me. I didn't look at her when she was here before". SERIOUSLY??? At the end of the day, I have a butchered up, toothless dog that I am devastatingly concerned about and the total bill was 1082.00. That didn't include being spayed as I purchased a certificate from Friends of Animals. Read Less

Wow, after 5 years of taking my dog to a big practice where none of the vets even knew my dog's name, I've finally found how good a vet can be. This small practice allows you to really spend time with the vet and I feel like she actually cares about your animal. Your pet receives personal attention, rather than just being one of ten in the waiting room. And the prices are even lower to boot. To top it all off, Cheekwood Animal Hospital uses Pet Portal - an online system that allows you to view your pet's vaccinations, schedule and appointment, and even create special care instructions for someone taking care of your dog. After I adopted my kitten I took him to the value vet to get his kitten vaccines. They did give him the shots, but the overall experience was unpleasant, with an overcrowded waiting room and impersonal exam (they kept switching between nurses, I think maybe there was a shift change??). Well, I didn't want to go back. I tried Cheekwood after a neighbor's recommendation. It was the total opposite, and I couldn't be happier (and it was still very fairly priced)! I am glad to leave feeling confident in my pet's health, and to skip all the shuffle and stress. Read Less
