I have worked in several vet hospital across the US and this is one of THE best vets I have ever been to. Everyone from the receptionists, techs and doctor are extremely professional and on point. When our dog Rose came to the end of her battle with cancer we were very fortunate to have the help of Dr Wehby, Elizabeth and the rest of the staff at Harpeth Hills Animal Hospital. Everyone there was understanding and did everything possible to make sure the procedure was completed in a competent and compassionate way without any distress to our beloved Rosie. Came in on Wednesday for annual shots and a rash to be looked at. Took care of me right away. I called back on Friday night because the rash spread and on Saturday morning they called back. They took care of me right away, even though they were busy, and gave my dog a shot to calm his intense scratching. They even refunded me for the food and medication my dog didn't like. Dr Strange is very professional and knowledgeable and made me feel like I wasn't a crazy dog mom. He is a very great vet and I will recommend him. We will be moving next month so I'm sad he won't be my vet in the future. Read Less

The vets here are great, the techs.......it depends on who you get. They insist on removing your dog from your sight as well, no matter what they are doing, It makes you wonder what goes on behind closed doors. They also act a little Self–righteous, and snobby at times and tend to act like your a complete idiot when it comes to your pet. Also I would not ever leave my dog with their groomer, they keep them for 8 hours or more. I have a small dog and she needs food and water frequently during the day, as she is a grazer and can dehydrate quickly. I dropped her off at 8 am, still no call that she was ready until the office was nearly closed, which was ridiculous. When I took her home she ate like she was starved and drank almost two bowls of water, so she had been denied water all day long, her gums were pale and she was trembling all over. Dr. Strange is the best. He has always been very patient and gentle with our dog and is unrushed in answering any questions or addressing any concerns we may have about one of our most cherished possessions. He's a nice person, knowledgeable and has an obvious love of animals. The facility is clean and well stocked with supplies. The staff is pleasant and professional. Read Less

The staff is very welcoming every time I bring my dog in for a kennel stay. While we don't use HHAH as our primary vet, they always treat us with the upmost respect during those 3-4 times a year we use boarding services. Read Less

Shopping around for vets as I've just moved to the area - my dog has to have a shot every month to keep him alive and so the price of this shot matters - asked what the cost might be person answering phone who responded that she was just the receptionist and did not know - she tried to be helpful and looked up what it cost another client and she gave me a price that was over 200% more than it cost me at my vets in Franklin - called back to confirm or to see if she could double check told me to stick with my old vet - will do hon. One of the most caring hospitals ever. The doctors really care and want you to have a the best care along with the vet techs. The front may be short staffed at times but they are always kind and do their best for you to have a pleasant experience. The kennel staff is absolutely amazing! Read Less

50% of them time, it's a pleasant experience without incident. Nobody upfront seems to be capable of listening, comprehending, and executing simple requests. Like filling a prescription. Pulling the correct pet chart. Running a card and posting the payment to our account. The care from the docs has been great and I feel Dr. Payne is very thorough. Really, the only confidence I have. I have been going here for several years and I was never going to mention this until now because these people have treated me fairly nice and have worked deals in the past for me. However since i was told today i would have to pay 50$ for each cat to just have them looked at and vaccinated not counting their vaccinations and other things(they used to only charge 50$ for the visit for me even if it was multiple cats). SO HERE IT IS. 2 Years ago i brought 4 sugar gliders( very expensive, Rare breed and sensitive) 2 of them were newborn joeys still too young to be handled. ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES HANDLED THE BABIES WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND ALSO PUT PICTURES ON HER PERSONAL FACEBOOK WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. they had to all stay together for my male sugar glider to be neutered otherwise they wouldn't have had the chance to mess with them. I still have screen grabs from the employees page a friend of hers sent me when she did it. I put up with this and didn't say anything because they were somewhat fair with me on their prices, thats now changed. SO DON'T BRING YOUR EXOTIC PETS HERE OR ANY PET FOR THAT MATTER UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO BE MESSED UNNECESSARILY WITH AND PUT ON FACEBOOK. Also baby sugar gliders are extremely sensitive and the pictures she took she was holding them in and it was obvious the baby was crying for it mother because it mouth was open. this is borderline animal abuse just for the sake of a picture. the babies were young enough to still be rejected and they were handling them carelessly. if these people will allow this to happen then their employees no doubt told people who i am and the exotic animals i have. No one wants people to know they have stuff this expensive in their homes so i would avoid this place if you value privacy. Read Less

I took my 8 month old Saint Bernard here for a few days and I am completely disgusted. When I picked him up, he had blood covering his face and there was no explanation as to why. He was completely filthy and had bruises and scratches covering his entire body. I measured out his food for every meal and less than half of it was used. The WORST experience ever. Read Less

10/2016 Update: So we contined going to this vet for the first year + of our dog's live (until we moved away from the area) and had nothing but excellent experiences.  For routine visits/vaccinations/spay as well as urgent issues (stomach problems and a mysterious sore spot on her leg), they were always fantastic.  We saw every doctor there, all of whom were nice and knowledgable.  Everyone there, from the vets and techs to the receptionists were so friendly and so clearly cared about our dog, which made us feel more comfortable entrusting them to her care.  One of the places we'll miss most in Nashville!Original Review: Anyway, we got a new puppy last weekend.  She's the cutest thing ever.  I called Harpeth Hills on Monday morning and they were able to get her in for a checkup that same afternoon. Everyone there was so nice - the staff, the techs and the vet.  You could really tell that they all love what they do and it made the experience so much less stresfull for me and for the puppy.Poor little puppy had some intestinal distress and they determined quickly that she had a few nasty things going on.  Gave us some medicine and an otherwise clean bill of health. I have taken my dog here for years and have experienced the best service ever from a Vet here. The staff always greet me and my dog with the most enthusiasm. Our dog is certainly treated as a VIP. The veterinarians took great care of her throughout a couple of surgeries and she has made a full recovery. I wish I was able to give 6 stars. Read Less

I went there Monday because my little dog, Precious, had ear infections. I saw Dr. Bulter. He was very nice and provided me with some information to take home and read about some pkaces on Precious' body. His aide came in with a tube of mecidine to put in her ears twice a day for seven days. She opened the tube and said she would show me how to do it. She showed me how to put it in the ear canal. The meds were all over her ears and on her hair under the ear. She said it wouldn't hurt anything to rub it around the outside of the ear. I had a tissue and tried to wipe some of the excess off. I had just had her groomed on Saturday. If you have a dog groomed here, you know it isn't cheap. It was late in afternoon when we got home so I did not put any drops in her ears. Tuesday morning, I took the tube out of the box, I was shocked!! The small tube was half empty. I calked the office later and explainec it to the person tbat answered the phone. I told ger there was only half of the tube left because the aide has used too much and I would not have enough to treat my dog for seven days. She said they ciuld refill it. The cost was $15.00. I told her I shouldn't have to pay for more mecidine because I didn't use the mecidine up. She said she would talk to the office mabager and call me back. She did not call me so I called the office again. I was told they talked to the doctor and the best they could do for me was to give me a 25% discount. Obviously, the health of my sick dig was not the priority there. They knew the aide had used the half of tbe tube. I told the lady I was going to use them as a permanet vet, but I wouldn't be doing that now. I also told her I would tell everyone hiw they treated me and I would also use social media. I will now have to go to another vet and have her checked again. That means I have to pay more money. I woukd never recommend this vet office to anyone. It doesn't matter to them that one of their employees used too much medicine and there was not enough to treat my dog.Read Less

I take my dog and cat there all the time for their shots and for the kennel. Everything seems good to me. My dog seems to like staying there for the kennel because when I take him, he doesnt even think twice when they walk him back. Read Less

I made an appointment with Harpeth HIlls today because I felt like the service at the other vets nearby was either lacking/incomplete, or in one case, dishonest. Harpeth Hills Animal Hospital (specifically Dr. Strange, with whom I had the pleasure of meeting today) has provided by far the best vet experience I've ever had. Typically, I'm in and out of other vets in under 20 minutes (for everything), implying that there is nearly no time spent evaluating my pet or explaining to me the reasons why things are being done/prescribed. Today, Dr. Stange took the time to evaluate our dog comprehensively, talk at length with us looking for clues, and provided clear and thorough direction on how to proceed. He also alerted us to two things that the other vets had missed (and showed us what was wrong) and treated something the other vets had blown off. It's clear that Dr. Strange cares greatly and will go the extra mile to ensure that his patients and their owners are pleased, understand what he's doing, and treated well. I have been taking my pets to Harpeth Hills Animal Hospital for years. They take great care of the animal patients, from little rodents to Great Danes. :) When I have taken a sick animal in to be seen, someone usually calls me the next day to see how he/she is doing. I like that! The vets give excellent and compassionate care. And you can tell from the caring way the staff handles the patients that they are truly animal lovers. The receptionists are very personable and efficient, making sure things go smoothly. When I go there, I feel like they are glad to see me and my animals! I changed vets because the staff at my other vet ignored my dog and kept me waiting too long. My dog barks anxiously wanting to ""play"" with other dogs. It is a little frustrating at times for me. The staff at Harpeth Hills comes from behind the counter and talks and plays with the animals. They are great, not like the other place that just looks at you like you are a bother. Read Less
