I have been using this vet for almost 20 years now and wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets. They are thorough and compassionate and have always treated my fur babies as their own. I will not be returning here. My wife waited an hour or more after the appointment to be seen (nearly EVERY visit is like this. The minimum has been about 30+ minutes). I’ve spent copious amounts of money for half-assed service and lazy diagnostic work. They can’t give good recommendations for anything, and they medicate constantly. I still don’t know for sure whether my dog has a prostate, thyroid, or bladder problem after 5-10 visits over the past year, and each doctor tells me something different from the doctor before. Prescribed a specific food to treat a urinary problem (80 bucks per bag for over a year), only to be told by another doctor that he *might* be allergic to that food because he has high yeast production and licks his paws a lot. She proceeds to recommend a different food completely from the medicated food that he was prescribed by a different doc at the same clinic. Then I’m told he should see a dermatologist. Three different drops were prescribed to treat a corneal ulcer. Two were prescribed initially with an antibiotic pill for ANOTHER ear infection (I clean his ears 2-3 times per week, sometimes once at least). Then they say he needs a third after the initial two were administered flawlessly for at least 3-5 days as prescribed (with no success). Third visit for the same problem. Ulcer is worse after giving drops to the schedule and order they’ve recommended and yet ANOTHER antibiotic (this one’s pink). Ulcer is still not healed. He’s on his second E collar as well... Now I have to go to a specialist (250 just for the diagnosis, no idea how much for the treatment yet, and I’ve already spent well over 500 with McCormick). He’s been on thyroid medication (for over a year), but they’re not *100% sure* he has a thyroid problem (might be a prostate issue now?). Thousands of dollars spent at this place ZERO actual answers. Very unfortunate experience on our second visit. We saw Kristen Caslowe in the office for a small lump on our dog's skin we were concerned about. She said we needed to do an excisional biopsy, and she wanted to use general anesthetic. When I asked Dr. Caslowe if she would do an aspiration first since it's less invasive and would give us a better indication of whether the mass was malignant (cancer) or benign (not cancer) she refused. We went somewhere else for a second opinion by an experienced vet who offered an antibiotic cream in case it is simply an infected cyst, an aspiration for non-invasive diagnosis, or an excisional biopsy but with a local anesthetic as there is no need for general sedation. The second vet took the time to explain every option and possible outcome. This experience makes me think that the staff at McCormick Vet Clinic is more concerned with monetary profit than the real needs and health of their patients. In addition, Dr. Caslowe insisted on an ear cleaning (even though I said I could do it at home) and charged me an extra $22 for it without informing me of that first. Lastly, it was clear that Dr. Caslowe didn't review my dog's file before coming in the room. She noted the crepitus in our dog's knee, which indicates arthritis, and was very accusatory towards me about it. Had she read the file she would've seen that our dog is a rescue puppy who was abused by her previous owner and the arthritis is a result of that abuse. I left McCormick feeling like I still didn't know what was wrong with the mass on our dog's skin - just that it was "concerning", and feeling like the worst pet parent ever. Read Less

Dr. Hilary was excellent with my feisty male cat who has never been to the Vet before. She took excellent care of my cat and calmed me down when my cat was not cooperating with her. I have had terrible experience there with my 2 dogs,my older dog had enlarged heart and fluid in her lungs,which is congested heart failure.Over the course of 2 weeks she was not improving plus ended of having something go wrong with her eye Dr.McCormick checked her eye but gave no diagnosis for it but gave some ointment to keep it lubricated which did not help at all,eventually her eye turned red to where you could not even see the pupil at all,which he even took my dog off of diuretic medicine, but within 1 day her breathing became more labored, I then called them back to get more diuretic to help give her some relief from fluid in her lungs also they can me pain medicine as well.I never took her back instead I took her else where and had her euthanized because she was never going to get better and was suffering. My other dog which is a little puppy 8 weeks old for her first check up,she had some type of rash on her plus she needed to get her first shots going,Dr Lisa Kraus said she had a skin infection gave me antibiotic for it but never diagnosis what type of skin infection,and to me you need to know what type of infection to treat it.I then decided to take my dog to a more knowledgeable Vet.Wich got a diagnosis she had a fungal - ringworm infection.I did not find that they were knowledgeable or compassionate in any way.I would not recommend themRead Less

Taken our dogs there for about 7 years. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Just make sure you don't let them sneek in shots that you didn't ask for, such as rabies. I just moved to TN within the past 6 months and had to find my dog zoe a new vet and I am usually picky. The people here are very friendly get things done in a timely manner, good about getting you in and have reasonable priced services. Dr. Karst is awesome too. She was great with zoe took the time to calm her down before she even did anything to her and gave her a treat after too. She has a good upbeat personality. We have used McCormick Animal Clinic for our last 3 years here in Nashville. They are convenient for boarding since they are so close to the airport and we travel frequently. They are not only convenient, but we feel that they take good care of our pets, and they are very reasonably priced. This past week has been a very hard one for us. Poppi, our beloved black lab had declined to the point that we had to take her in for evaluation by Dr. McCormick and staff. Without all of the details (it's still hard for us to think about) Dr. McCormick gave us all of our options, counseled us, and let us make our own decision about the fate of our big girl. He was straight forward and we appreciated that. Ultimately we had to make the most difficult decision that a pet owner has to make. We were and still are very sad, but they were very patient with us and gave us all of the time and space we needed to make the right decision. There were no guilt trips designed to make us spend our money and put our girl through painful interventions that would make little difference in her fate. I often use this clinic for boarding. Over the years it seems like something has changed. I took my dog there in September (2014) for boarding. When i picked her up they took a longer than usual time to bring her up front. The doctor finally came up front to tell me that they had to wrap my dog's tail. It was wrapped up because when someone walks by she gets very excited; banging her tail against the cage/run that she was in. Totally understandable. Took my dog home removed the bandage 3-4 days later; its still bleeding. Blood was splattered all over my walls. I took her back for boarding again this time the lady at the front desk was very rude. asking me for shot records i had not idea my dog needed. after I just dropped her off 1 month ago with no problem. Needless to say I paid for the extra shots she needed and boarding. The front desk lady quoted me $130 for everything. A few days later i go pick up my dog and the cost was $141. The front desk lady misquoted me. Instead of making up for it they forced me to pay the extra money because all their employees have to make notes of everything they do/say. I was treated like a liar. it is not my fault your front desk person cannot add. I take my dog home and she has been acting funny every since. She "went" in our house; tail still wrapped up, she threw up, and her behavior is different; and she keeps biting her tail. Its like they did not care for her like they used to. She is a large breed dog Boxer/Pit Mix; very happy and energetic but now; not so much. I was very disappointed in this clinic. i used to give them high praise but now...i just don't know. I have been trying to reach the office manager for 2-3 days now and he/she is never in the office to make a formal complaint. Read Less

It was Friday Afternoon after 5 PM and I brought Harley (dog) who had been attacked into the Clinic. They immediately took charge, did surgery, and saved that baby's life. I just visited this clinic for the first time with my only 'child'. I was more than pleased with the cleanliness, professionalism, and above all, compassion and caring I found with the McCormick clinic staff. Dr. Karst was knowledgeable, compassionate and understanding. Judith and the other techs made us feel like we found a new vet home for our beautiful husky. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow and I have the utmost faith in the doctors and staff. I used to be satisfied with this vet, however when my cat recently got really sick they wouldnt fit him into their day. I knew they had openings hey just didnt want to stay late. My cat had cancer and died soon after. I do not recommend. Read Less

I had used McCormick for 8 years & always thought they were great. The staff is very friendly & the vets seems okay. However, last year my dog started sneezing way more than normal & started reverse sneezing. I took him multiple times & every time they said it was allergies, but they never tested him for any allergies, just gave him random pills. Even when he started weezing through his nose, they still said it was allergies. It wasn't until a bump developed on his nose they recommended I get an MRI. After I go the MRI, they didn't even call me back with the results...I had to call them. Over the phone they casually told me he had cancer & it had eaten through half the bone in his face, that there was nothing I could do. They didn't bother to prescribe any pain medication or medicines to help the infection the cancer was causing. Thank God I went to another vet & they helped manage his life for the last three months. Not once did McCormick test for anything, not once did they offer end of life care. Thanks to their ineptitude, the cancer was caught too late & I lost my dog two days ago. Stay away from this vet. Unless it's yearly vaccinations they are worthless. I recommend you go to someone who cares. Read Less

This place is great! I got my Macy and had only had her for a few days when she started acting strange. She'd gotten her first shots here, so I brought her in. She was very sick (I forgot what the name was), so she had to stay overnight for a couple of days. And the overnight fee IS ABSOLUTELY $15.00. They were great the whole time they had her - told me I could call anytime, even though they called me daily, and when I did call they'd go right on back and check on her. I live nearby so the office staff even said to drop by and could see her if I wanted to. After I got her back, she was healthy and happy. After a couple of days, the staff called again just to see if she was alright. Every time I go in there - with or without my dog - they know me and my dog by name. They commented several times about how she grew as a puppy. They even helped me with an issue I had about spaying her (I had gotten her out of state and they were demanding I get her spayed, even though they gave her too me at around 5 weeks - way too young). The staff worked with me and the other clinic nicely. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these people. Read Less

I would only recommend using this vet clinic for routine shots or picking up heartworm medication or flea medication as it is convienient in it's location. I was having major problems with my small dog who had been very healthy for 11 years. She began having episodes of fainting, possible seizures, frothing of the mouth and respiratory distress. I tried with 3 appointments and seeing all 3 vets to figure out this problem. One vet acted as if she was just an old dog and oh well - and also insisted my dog had cardiac issues and if I wanted to she could have an ultrasound done, but really there was nothing we could do about it as this is just part of having an elderly dog. I am in the medical field and knew she did not have CHF b/c those were not her symptoms. Another vet told me this was just common with this breed and she would not die from it - she would relax and start breathing again. Well, that is scary! My dog was turing purple, I had to give her cpr a few times. I knew this was not normal. The other vet did not offer much information - started her on prednisone thinking she had some allergies, and sent us on our way. I never got one phone call back from either of these 3 vets to see if the meds were working. In fact, this medication made her more sick and her episodes went from one a month to 3 a week. I sought a different vet who took her off this medication as it had induced cushings disease - now being off of the medication for a month - no more cushings. We found she needs an antacid - prevacid once a day - it has cured all problems! She was having a vagal nerve response to GERD causing her to pass out/heart stop. My old dog is fine now, playing and enjoying life now. I always felt rushed and like I was ridiculous when I went in McCormick Animal Clinic - like they only wanted to deal with the routine yearly appointments of shots etc. The easy stuff. I recommend if your dog has an illness, take them elsewhere. I gave them 3 tries. It seems the 3 vets do not consult with each other at all - I got 3 different diagnoses without any tests being run. I had to beg for tests and a thyroid panel to be run. I just felt they did not care about helping us and I take my dog's care serious as she is part of my family. I hate that I gave them 3 tries and caused my dog more harm in the process. Read Less

I moved to Hermitage in June of 2008, My 10 year old dog became deathly sick in November and I found this clinic in the phonebook. I called and took him right away. He was anemic and they had to do a transfusion immediately and saved his life. Thank God I took him when I did, Dr. Karst said if they would not have done the transfusion when they did my mack mack would have died. They are so very nice and really care about your pets. MCCORMICK ANIMAL CLINICS STAFF IS VERY KIND. I HAVE BEEN GOING THEIR WITH MY DOG SPARKY FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. I MOVED HERE FROM MAINE AND DIDN'T EXPECT TO FIND A PLACE AS GOOD AS MCCORMICK ANIMAL CLINIC. THEY TAKE THE TIME TO CARE FOR YOUR PETS NO MATTER HOW LATE THEY HAVE TO STAY. THE KENNEL PEOPLE ARE VERY REASSURING. I WOULD TRUST THEM TO LOOK AFTER MY SPARKY FOR YEARS. 60$ A NIGHT?!?!?! WHAT IS THAT PERSON TALKING ABOUT? THEY ARE ONLY 15$ PER NIGHT. I WOULD GIVE THE TWO KENNEL PEOPLE : BETH AND DANIEL A PROMOTION. IN MY PERSONAL OPINION THEY HAVE DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP WITH SPARKY. EVERYTIME I DROP HIM OFF FOR BOARDING, RATHER THAN HIM SCRAPPING THE FLOOR, HE WAGS HIS TAIL AND LEAPS OVER TO THEM. I HIGHLY RECOMEND THEM!!! Read Less

My animals are as important to me as my child and therefore, would only take them where I thought they could get the best care. I just lost my baby (Chris) a sweet loving poodle that was my best friend after 18 wonderful years. I have taken Chris to McCormick Vet Clinic since the day (1990) I got him as a small puppy. Everyone has always treated him as the special boy that he was and always made me feel that he was getting the best care possible. I moved to Mount Juliet and continued to make the drive because I truly trust them to give my babies the best care possible....why try someone else, when I know I already found the best? When Chris passed, my heart was broken as I loved him very much and the staff reached out to me to try to make this lost somewhat easier. I will always be thankful for the great care they gave to Chris as welll as the care that they currently give to Carly (Yookie-poo), Tay (Shizoo-poo) and now Corey (teacup poodle) and wouldn't take them anywhere else. I have used this office for my pet's for about 15 years. I have never had bad service and everyone that works here is very friendliy and loves pets. I have had numerous pets over the years and most of them look at going to this office as a social event. Both of the doctors are excellent in their 'bed-side' skills and act as the professionals that they are trained to be. The tenure of the staff speaks highly of the work environment as well. it is nice in this fast paced world to patronize a business that remembers your name and your PET's. They probably like them more anyway. .. No idea where the bad review came from, always courteous and will find a way to make time for you at a fair price. I remember when he had a small office in the plaza before building his facility! Anyone that I know that has used them has stayed a client. They will help you place abandoned animals on their posting board also. I hope to try out their kennel facility over Christmas, but they were full by Thanksgiving so someone please cancel so they can take care of my boxer... Mom's cats won't share the house with her. I just have to comment on the previous bad review. That information is completely false. I've been taking my dog there for 5 years and they've always been wonderful. The boarding area is very clean and I went back there without a single argument. And the boarding is $14 a night, so I have no idea where that person gets off saying it's $60! My girl was very happy there and I was gone for 10 days! She came back healthy and perfectly fine. The doctors and staff are very kind, compassionate people who truly care about animals. I also recently took a kitten that I found had been injured by a car in there and they helped me right away. Didn't charge me anything for it (yes, some places would). Read Less

I went to this VET because my sister said that they were the best........far from it. EVERY single time that I dropped off my dog she came back thirsty and hungry after boarding. The lady that answers the phone is rude and when called on her rudeness starts yelling. I have asked multiple times for animal records over the last 6 months and have not gotten them. Their boarding facilities are not kept clean and you have to demand in order to get access to the back area. For 60$ a night for a 20lbs dog it is truely sad. I instead have started going to PETMED on Bell Rd and I-24 they have been great. My dog after 10 yrs has finally gotten rid of her ear infection that they are cronicly known for having. Read Less

Dr. McCormick, Associates, and Office Staff are ALWAYS friendly, explain in understabable detail what going on and treat each case with upmost respect.
