Called to see if they could exam my dog. She had be bitten by another dog and bleeding. As we were driving to Knoxville I noticed they were open on Sunday's and thought they could take a look at her. I was so wrong. I called and was put on hold for 6.37 minutes before being disconnected. I called back and was put on hold for 4 minutes. After I was finally able to speak to someone they stated "we close at 5". This was at 4:15 and we were 5 minutes away. I understand it was a Sunday but aren't veterinarians supposed to help animals if they need it.? I have never dealt was such rude and uncaring people at a vet off. I guess that is how they prefer to run their business. I would recommend a new business though. Maybe one were people are not counting on you for assistance . Read Less

This place thankfully did an exam on my cat who was obviously in pain after being rushed an exam at another vets office. (Mountain Home Vet Clinic).
They were so nice and professional, made sure everything was nice and clean for my baby and took great care of him.
The vet took her time with me to answer any questions I had, which were a good many.
I appreciate the staff here so much. Every single one of them were friendly and professional. The only complaint I have is before they started anything on my cat, the vet told me they would keep me posted on the prices of things and how much my total was, which they did not do. When I was leaving, my bill was almost $350, which that’s fine if it helps my baby, but it would have been nice if they would have kept me updated on the price of the things they were doing like she said they would. I was in from Michigan with my 10 month old american bulldog/miniature husky mix; The hotel we were in is pet friendly and he got sick 2 days after arriving. So I called ahead having almost NO money to my name on Tuesday evening but enough for the test I knew we needed(parvo)...it was positive and at first we were devastated and resigned ourselves to the worst immediately. The VT that came out saw his energy levels and while telling us he had parvo she recommended we try pedialyte and fluid injections if we could, since he was still active. I drove 11 hours back home, getting him to keep down water/Gatorade and oatmeal. Over 48 hours since the bloody diarrhea started we've had no more vomiting or bloody stools since the first instances, we made it home and he is getting his fluid injections in less than an hour...he may pull thru and I AM SO GRATEFUL, someone was there to tell me not to give up just because I couldn't afford treatment. She told us exactly what he needed and because of that he is still here right now, not out of the woods, but he has a MUCH better chance of survival now. Thank YOU ALL so much for having such an amazingly helpful and compassionate staff. Even if he doesn't pull thru I feel so much better knowing we did all we could to save our fur baby. Read Less

My dog went deaf possibly because of the doctor. I was not pleased with the results. I had to ask them to look at his ears. the doctor said my boy had an ear infection of the right ear. I was told he needed antibiotic ear drops in the right ear. They sent me home with a anti-inflammatory inflammatory NOT antibiotics! 5 days later I noticed he wasn't coming when called, was depressed, not eating didn't want to go on our daily walks.... totally different dog. I tested his heari...ng by standing behind him and yelling doggy treats! No reaction. I took him to a different vet who told me that the drops were NOT antibiotics and he had an infection of BOTH ears! The ears had not been cleaned out of the debris and not treated with antibiotics. The bottle of drops cost $44.00! My total bill was over $112. I ended up asking for my money back and they refused! I then spent another $130 for treatment. I'm on a fixed income so I can't afford to buy gas or food for the rest of the month. And my boy's deaf forever! See More Read Less

Dr. Jenny was very kind to my friend's cat. The only thing that we didn't like was when they showed my friend a bill for way more than she could afford. They came up with a "Plan B" that was much more reasonable, and didn't include unnecessary tests and caring for his wounds that I was able to do myself. We were on vacation last week and our 10 year old Pug became gravely ill. We went to one clinic, was there before they ever opened up, because we had been up all night with her. They didn't even look over the counter at her. We were going down the list and saw Sevier County Animal clinic. Drove across town to them. I walked in and was greeted immediately by a very friendly staff. Told her our situation and we were immediately seen by Dr Brown. She was so caring and gentle. Ke...pt us updated on costs and treatment options we had. She had bladderstones and was obstructed and had to be taken immediately to surgery. As it turned out, once the stones were removed she had a blocked ureter as well. They had done all they could do, but in order to save her she needed a specialist. We picked he up straight from surgery still sedated and transported her to Knoxville to the UT Veterinarian school. Sevier County Animal clinic had already sent ahead the paper work and they were ready for her when we hit the door. She was again taken into surgery and the specialist was able to remove the blockage but it was difficult even for them. We cannot thank the kindness caring and support we got at Sevier County Animal clinic. Dr Brown and her awesome staff were amazing. We were a mess, mentally and physically exhausted. If you have a big dog or something that looks the slightliest scary, don't bring your dog here. They're definitely bias and prefer smaller dogs. We needed heartworm, flea, and tick medication (we bought 6 months worth of tablets at our old clinic in Dec but misplaced the last 3 we had left. We recently moved from VA and our place is just a clutter) for our 11 month old puppy who happens to be a Japanese Akita. I understand they have a bad rep/can be aggressive but automatical...ly leaving the room and giving him and us dirty looks the whole time was uncalled for. I don't mind you ignoring my dog but looking at us like we're criminals and saying we had no proof of ever giving him heartworm medication when our receipt was right in front of you. Paperwork is different at our last clinic so I'm sorry it isn't the same or good enough for you. Anywho, one of your employee wanted to tell us no, we didn't have enough proof and I don't mind doing a heartworm test right then and there but their other employee kept saying to sell the tablet so we can leave already was terrrible. We won't ever be coming back again, I'd rather drive to Knoxville to our usual clinic with employees who actually care about their clients. This was my vet for the last several years but I will never take my girl, Onyx, back. Right before Christmas she almost died. They treated her for several days, fluids and antibiotics, only to tell me her white cells continued to increase and they couldn't do anything else for her. This cost around $1000. I took her to U.T. and they found the source of infection and she had emergency surgery. What they found as the source of infection, a urinary stone and pymethria, Sevier Co Animal Clinic had told me they ruled out. On the day of the surgery I spoke with one of the vets at S.C.A.C. and I was treated with zero compassion and she was very defensive. Read Less

I brought my puppy into the office 4 times. Each time I was told that my puppy has Coccidia. They gave me a weeks worth of medicine for him to take and he did not get any better. I went back and they said that 50% of his Coccidia was gone, they gave me another weeks worth of medicine for him. In the meantime, my puppy is getting sicker and sicker. He was losing weight and would not eat. We finally decided to take him to another vet. They took a look at his stool sample and immediately knew that something was very wrong with him. A stool sample was taken at Sevier County and they did not comment on the color or consistency, they made us believe that this was normal. His current vet looked at it one time and told us "this is not how this is supposed to look or smell." The vet that he is at now, Tri County Animal Clinic, has deduced that he has a resistant strain of Coccidia and it will require special treatment, they also told us that he more than likely has a Protosystematic Shunt which weakens his immune system, they will have to do further testing to confirm. He was at their office for about an hour when they told us this. As i said we went to Sevier County 4 TIMES and not once did they think that his strain was resistant to the standard medication, they in fact said that he was getting better when he was not. We told them on each occasion how worried we were about his eating habits and the amount of times he pooped. They did not believe us when we said that he pooped at least 15 times a day nor did they do anything to calm our fears. If anything after any appointment we had we were more worried than when we walked in. My puppy now has to stay the weekend at the vet while they give him IV fluids and new medicine. He now weighs 1/2 a pound and is in a considerable amount of pain, we do not know if he is going to make it through the weekend. I can't help but wonder if he would be doing better or if he would have been completely cured if once in the 4 times that we've been here someone would have caught it. Read Less

If you love your Pet, please do not bring him to this Clinic. I have been a Medical professional for over 15 years. I brought my Dog to this Vet because he was not eating and somewhat tired. My Dog had a history of Congestive Heart Failure and has been on a Maintenance of Medications for a year and a half. I left my Dog with them on a Friday they did Blood work and Xrays. Upon the findings they determined that it was his Liver and told me that he was in Liver Failure. They then treated him with an IV fluid and Antibiotics and told me that he would have to stay through the weekend. We called them constantly and went to visit our beloved pet of 11 years daily except Sunday as they are closed. I was assured by the Vets and the Staff that my Dog was doing well and that his Liver levels had gone down and possibly he would come home on a Monday. They told me to call Monday morning to talk to the Vet and see if he would be coming home that day. I called as directed and the Vet told me that he wanted to conference with the Vet who originally was caring for my Dog and to call back in 4 hours. I called back as directed and he told me that we could pick him up at 5pm that day, We picked up my Dog and he was not home for 5 minutes and Died in my arms. As you can imagine, I was heartbroken and shocked. When my pet arrived home, I noticed that he was struggling to breath and had fluid in his lungs.. keep in mind that I am in the Medical field and knew right away what the problem was. I was going to rush him back in there but never had the chance as he died. This clinic gave my poor little guy an overload of Fluids knowing his history of Congestive Heart Failure. To put this in perspective they killed my Dog! Also they did not give him his Medications that he had been on for over a year because they said that it would harm his Liver.. does this make sense? Anyone who has a bit of knowledge about Congestive Heart Failure knows that adding more fluid in the body will in fact kill you!!!! I am so appalled and sickened that they even sent my pet home in ths condition. They never once indicated that he was in danger and could die! When we picked him up we told them that he was not right and that he was worse than when we brought him there.. their reply was ""he will be fine.. he just has not eaten in 3 days he will perk up""! To appease us the Vet checked him before we took him home and said ""he will be ok""! You mean to tell me that being a Vet he could not hear the Fluid in is lungs??? My pet although had this Heart problem NEVER was showing signs of fluid in his lungs. These people are the most insensitive, uncompassionate, rude people, I have ever met! Then they told us the bill was over $700.00 and that if we did not pay we would go to Collections. This was the very night my Dog died in my arms after being home for 5 minutes. This was said to us when we called them right after my Dog died! So. please do not bring your Pet here and spread the word as much as you can.. so this will not happen to another animal! They are incompetent and the office is unorganized and all the Vets and staff do not know what the other is doing. I had to speak to a different Vet every time I called. My Dog may have been sick but to put it as bluntly as I can they induced his death! Comment on Review Delete Review Read Less

I had to make a very hard decision this past spring, and am now just able to talk about it. My beautiful faithful loving doggy of almost 18 years was starting to have serious health issues. He had been struggling with partial deafness and cataracts but still seemed happy, until he developed cancer. it was to the point that we were unable to keep him comfortable and he was my baby, I couldn't stand seeing him suffer any longer. The team at Sevier County were so compassionate , worked with us in every way to make this as easy on my doggy as they could. I will always be grateful to them all for this. They knew exactly the right words to use in comforting me , and helped me get my baby ready for burial. They are an exceptional bunch and I would refer them to anyone!! Also, the John Sevier clinic also helped treat my baby and are just as special!! Read Less

I live in NC but use this vet clinic when I visit my family in TN due to the much lower pricing. In Raleigh you drop $200 everytime you walk in the door even for routine visits so I only use the vet here in emergency situations. I have always had great care for my rat terrier at Sevier County Animal Clinic. He has been there for routine shots as well as dental cleaning. Jennifer Darden picked up on a small liver condition that no other vet had noticed. My dog is a bit difficult with a loud shrill bark and fear biting and they have always treated him with kindness.

Read Less

Cannot recommend. Front office staff is unfriendly & seem bothered to help you. While waiting, my dog pooped on the floor. I told them (it's a small waiting room) and it took them quite awhile to clean it.. with no disinfectant, just a dirty mop. One vet here missed my labs bad knee (which required major surgery & was immediately recognized by another vet) and sent us home with instructions to keep him kenneled for 10 days w/pain meds. I took my old kitty there. He has had ear problems for years. We've tried so many different medicines and treatments. It would get better then come back. Finally I took him here and Dr. Jenny worked a miracle she's the only doctor to have ever gotten to the source of the problem. I followed her instructions and his ears have been perfect ever since! I can't thank her enough! She went beyond the usual quick fix. Read Less

We recently spent our honeymoon in the Smokies. Our dog was with us. She was old in age and during the time we were there, we had to have her euthanized. Such a hard thing for any person to do. When that time comes you know it's best for your baby, but you want to keep her around for yourself. Dinny was so kind to us and took much time for our questions and concerns. His compassion was everything we needed at that moment. Dinny and his staff will forever be part of the time we spent in the Smokies on our honeymoon and will be remembered fondly. Thank you Dr Dinny and staff.

You will not be disappointed at this vet! Read Less

The vet, Dr. Ryan is great but dont expect any personality from the staff up front, the China girl is whom we call the Ice maiden, if she does not like you and she does not like most people who come in it seems , particuarly women), she will stone wall you, if your pet is dying dont talk to her, she wont help you one bit and for the rest, no smiles or personality as well, you will be lucky if they even speak or glance at you when you first walk in, that is if they are not gossiping about the girls downstairs in front of the customers. But otherwise Dr. Ryan is a nice and very good vet, you will like, that is if you can get in to see him Read Less
