I've brought my babies here since I moved to Smyrna years ago. Lightning Skye, my Husky/Malamute mix loved to come in. He thought it was a social visit. He got so much love from everyone. His buddy, Four, our black cat was docile enough we just carried him in. He knew he ruled over dogs anyway. I lost them both about 4 years ago. I still have a snauzer and a chihuahua, both getting up in their years. We also found brothers,black cats, that we named Trouble and Leo. We hoped to save money a while back and went to another office in town. Major, major mistake! My extremely beautiful and nervous cat had a breakdown there. They did not know how to handle a nervous cat. I later brought him to Dr. Duffy (hey, I had to! He was hurt!) and she has areas for "cats only". Pheromones are emitted into the air to help calm the cat. He did quite well for her. I never had a problem with Southern Vet. They still talk about my handsome boys, Lightning and Four. I'll never go back to that other place. It's not worth my babies health!Read Less

After 15 years I finally left. They are very nice but they over charge me every time I go in for a visit. Today they charged me an office visit for a cat and all they did was tell me sorry we can't do anything to help them. $50 to stick a thermometer in my cat's butt. Read Less

Thank you to the staff and doctors. This was a tough weekend for us. Today we came to the conclusion to put our Irish Setter Pudgy down to rest. The staff was so kind, courteous. Today I abounded my local vet for Southern veterinary clinic! My local vet was booked and my kittens were sick. Made a quick call and got an appointment same day. I was so impressed with the staff, their cat only rooms and waiting area, and how professional and courteous the doctor was. I had so many questions and she had all the answers and then some. I left with all the medications I needed, was shown how to administer it, a new cat guide that came with amazing information!Read Less

This vet is wonderful if you have a healthy pet. But, if they're sick, run as fast as you can away from this establishment. I have taken 3 pets there for years: 2 dogs, 1 cat, all elderly. When they experienced liver and kidney issues, the vets as well as techs said 'There's really nothing you can do. It just happens with age.' I had every imaginable blood test and trusted them. Then, I began reading online the many mainstream approaches vets take to remedy these issues and I was so disappointed NONE of these measures were ever mentioned at Southern Vet. I even asked the vet straight out about these treatments and she looked at me sideways. I tried a different vet as a "second opinion" and they immediately began antibiotics and other prescriptions to decrease ALT levels and even helped me modify a diet to address kidney disease. My pets are now doing great and their blood levels are normal. If you have a pet you adore, don't trust these people. The ladies who work up front are lovely, but the vets and techs are completely lazy when it comes to treating serious diseases. I've never written a review before and I'm only doing so in the hope to save other furbabies from what nearly happened to my own. Read Less

I had to make the decision to help my 14 year old Labrador Sebastian cross the Rainbow Bridge today. I could not have asked for a better group of people to help me through that time. The entire staff at Southern Veterinary Center are absolutely amazing. They are compassionate as well as professional. They met me at the car to see if i needed help. Immediately took us to a room. They treated my baby as if he was their own and that means more to me then I could ever express with words. I just want to say thank you . If i could give Southern Vet 10 Stars I would. We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Duffy and all the staff there. They have seen us through some good times and some dark times. But they always give us and our four legged family members more love and respect than you expect. We still have one elderly dog left and will only use SV for any other animals.
