Tennessee Equine Hospital

Thompson's Station, Tennessee
General Info
Tennessee Equine Hospital is a veterinary practice in Thompson’s Station dedicated to ensuring pets’ health and well-being throughout the community. Located in Thompson's Station, United States, the clinic is reputable for its professional and supportive approach to animal health. The experienced team provides personalized wellness plans, regular check-ups, and various treatments targeting each animal’s specific needs. Services frequently encompass Regenerative Medicine, Radiology (X-rays), Equine Care, Cardiology, Nutritional Counseling, Cold Laser Therapy, and Laboratory. These procedures are performed with attention to detail and focus on both prevention and treatment. The clinic is well-equipped, and the animals remain comfortable during visits, thus reducing stress and facilitating successful diagnosis and treatment. Clients frequently praise the empathetic and communicative nature of the staff, which fosters long-term relationships and trust. Tennessee Equine Hospital continues to grow as a cornerstone of the Thompson’s Station pet-owning community. The specialists are ready to help when pets are young and require a good start for long and healthy life or when they get old and need proper care to manage age-related chronic diseases. Their dedication to animal health and safety pushes them to continuously learn and grow in their practice. This ensures that every pet receives the best care possible. In addition, it is committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and reaching out to the community. Tennessee Equine Hospital in Thompson’s Station bases every care interaction with the animal on the principles of spatial dynamics, tone response, and stimulus combination to ensure that every household in Tennessee can safely perform treatment procedures at home. When animals arrive, they go through the check-in observation which looks at their responses to the scent layers, flooring texture, eye contact, and nearby movement rather than just running medical tests. Clinicians incorporate the cues from the handling into their examination technique and may need to stop or slow down when they feel the baby is becoming uncomfortable (changes in breathing, resistance). The exam encompasses an in-depth analysis of coat density, hydration, muscle composition, limb responsiveness, dental surfaces and oral heat, and abdominal flexibility. Property owners are invited to attend events which provide insights into recent trends in their homes as well as any invitations for the next steps. Tennessee Equine Hospital ensures systematic diagnostics, immunization program procedural implementation, pain level monitoring, and aging wellness through collaborative disease mapping. Flexible appointments can be scheduled to allow for either a one-day visit or staged over several days depending on what the animal and household can handle emotionally. An assortment of visual aids such as diagrams, calendars for tracking, and photo logs are additional tools utilized to facilitate communication between visits. Follow-up care turns into a thoughtful conversation. Because the check-in is based on behavior, not merely time. Pet owners need to be aware of sensory regulation and re-integration back into activities, especially after a visit when the dog shuts down or becomes hyper due to the lack of balance. Tennessee Equine Hospital provides veterinary care offerings to horses in Thompson’s Station and other Tennessee regions by initiating treatment through awareness and support at home while respecting physical and emotional boundaries from start to finish.

I have nothing but great things to say about Tennessee Equine, specifically Dr. Allison and her team. I drove a couple hours to bring my mare for what I thought was her hock arthritis advancing, and was wanting to have a chemical fusion done. My mare was in an extreme amount of pain and limping. Her lameness seemed to jump from different legs. Dr. Allison took the time unwrapping the problem, that I'm certain no one else would have. Spending all day with me and some of the following day; running tests, exams, imaging, etc. We found out that not only did her arthritis advance, but there was a rock lodged in so far up one of the other hooves, which was found on imaging. I was approached with my options between the two situations and not pressured into any of them. I'm fairly new to the industry and never felt talked down, but everything was broken down beautifully.  After 5-star treatment and tons of tests, imaging, joint blocks, and even the fusion that I originally thought was the answer. I went to pay expecting several thousand dollars, and was pleasantly surprised... nearly guilty. I'm beyond appreciative and grateful for the amazing experience I had. I felt like the top priority and didn't feel that Dr. Allison was pulled from patient to patient. It would have been so easy to inject the hock and have me out the door. Or nickel and dime every little thing. I am so happy I entrusted Tennessee Equine! Thank you all so much! Read Less

I recently called to schedule an appointment for my horse who was experiencing respiratory issues. The front desk was very nice and accommodating and got him in at the time and day I requested. Dr. Christine did a thorough and focused physical exam and some minimally invasive tests including an upper airway endoscopy. She was quickly and accurately able to diagnose his chronic cough and initiated therapy after taking time to educate me about the causes. My horse is already feeling so much better! The veterinary intern Dr. Tim helped unload and load my horses in a friendly and engaging manner. From start to finish (front desk, veterinarian, technician, intern) I found TEH to be kind, thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. I am glad I chose to bring my horse here and trust them implicitly with his care. He is my big sweet boy and family to me. Thank you TEH! Read Less

My two twn-year-old mares Sophie and Serafina are charter members of the Tennessee Equine Income Protection and Enhancement Club. I was referred to Tennessee Equine Hospital on Thursday 1-15-15 for a possible broken hind leg. I was told they would be out sat. to do x-rays. I explained that I was at least 1 hour 30 min. away and all my info was taken. When asked if I could bring him to them, I explained that could not load. I was assured that they could come out sat. On Sat I phoned them to see if they could give me time they would arrive. I was then told that they was not going to be able to come out, it was just to far to come. I then called another vet to come out to x-ray and was then told the tibia was completely into and pressing to the inside of the leg. The decision was then made to euthanize my horse. As a nurse this is unacceptable. If I had been told on Thursday that they was not coming out I could have saved my horse from unnecessary pain. I believe when you say you will do something, you do it. I guess that you have to live within walking distance..... Read Less

Excellent experience. We brought my horse in for an impaction colic that was quickly progressing to him being extremely wobbly and unable to stand for even a second without going down. We were greeted, 9:30 at night, by Dr. Kelly and four techs. Even though we came in for colic, she immediately did a quick neurological/coordination test as well. She explained every step of the process -- from what was showing up on the ultrasound, what was normal/abnormal about his blood levels (these were taken immediately and were very helpful to have on hand), what she was looking for during each procedure, and why she used the approaches she did. All of the techs were helpful and super nice. We left just before midnight and left the horse there. I was most impressed with the fact that they checked on him and the other horses hourly and wrote a brief synopsis each hour (TRP, resting state, etc.); one of the techs showed me his hourly log before we left. They were able to see that he started going downhill about 3 in the morning, which is something I feel may have been life-saving if he had been at a facility without this level of care. We weren't able to come pick him up until after 8 the next night, which was perfectly fine with them -- the techs live above the stables. They hand-grazed him for about ten minutes every hour until we arrived. Dr. Kelly provided me with follow-up directions about re-introducing him to hay and grain, and also called me the next day to check in and answer a few questions. This was my first experience with Tennessee Equine, but I was highly impressed. Everything was very professional but not at all impersonal -- something that sometimes comes hand-in-hand with a facility of this size and caliber. I have recommended them to everyone who has asked, and have been met also with stories of only good experiences from people who have also been there. I get the impression that this is a facility that understands our horses are not only athletes but are also family. I genuinely feel that this is the most thorough, professional, and well-staffed equine hospital in middle Tennessee.Read Less

Dr. Christine came right away on a Sunday afternoon for my senior horse who was in need of immediate care. She compassionately, professionally, and efficiently provided care and educated us about the condition and ongoing care. She promptly checked in with us the next day. We found the answering service to be very professional, as well. We greatly appreciate the service provided by Dr. Christine and the TN Equine Hospital. Read Less

I would like to commend Dr. Christine for her professionalism and compassion during a difficult experience. We recently had an aged horse down on the ice. Under Dr. Christine's care and direction we were able to rescue the horse after 4 hours of hard work. Despite all that had to be done to upright him, Tweety came through remarkably unscathed. Thank you, Dr. Christine, for your knowledge, dedication, and patience with the humans! :-) Read Less

Read Less

I've toured several horse hospitals and this equine hospital is state of the art and located in a beautiful setting in Middle Tennessee. I was especially impressed with the staff, the surgical facility and the padded floors for the horses. This facility has a really good Lameness Evaluation Practice.
