Animal Hospital Of Signal Mountain

This place provides excellent care for pets. The staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and caring, especially those in boarding. However, this place is expensive! There is a charge for every little thing. Our dog recently was treated for a fractured nail (removal) and we were even charged twice for bandaging ($27). And we still had to re-bandage as soon as we got home. This vet practice is not doc owned. It is privately owned as a business and the docs are hired to oversee the practice. I liken it to a "for profit" hospital. So the bottom line is not compassionate care for the animals. It is to turn a profit for the business. However, for all intents and purposes, this is the only game in town (on the mountain), so unless your willing to drive a considerable distance, you don't have much of an option. Read Less

My lovely dog, Pilar, has been doing rehab at Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain for the past couple of months, and I couldn't be more pleased with the way they've treated her. She tore the cruciate ligament in her hind leg, and they've done an amazing job of getting her walking again. For folks that are unfamiliar with that particular injury, surgery is usually the only treatment option. Given Pilar's older age, surgery wasn't a realistic solution, so my wife and I decided t...o give physical therapy a try. Under Dr. Cornman's guidance, Pilar is walking without a noticeable limp and is completely happy. The entire office is extremely accommodating and friendly. Everyone in the office is truly amazing, and I trust them wholeheartedly with Pilar's treatment. I thought my Beta girl was going to hate therapy as much as she hate(d) the vet, but boy was I wrong. By week two she was practically dragging me into the office and ready to run straight back to her friends and jump on that water treadmill! Not only have they done an amazing job rehab'ing her back to 100%, they provided me respite from 24-hour care post surgery and kept my girl in shape mentally and physically. This staff is always amazing, from the receptionists who greet you at the front door, to the amazing kennel staff who make you feel like you’re not leaving your animals at all, to the knowledgeable vet techs, and last but certainly not least, a loving caring team of veterinarians that put animals first. I love that this hospital will get you in quickly at a time that's convenient to you. 95% the staff is super awesome and amazing! My husband and I (and our cats!) moved to Signal earlier this year.  We've been to a number of vets over the years, and AHSM is the best of the bunch in terms of care, compassion and overall excellence.  We recently went through the very difficult experience of adopting a severely ill rescue cat.  During the twelve days he was with us, the AHSM team squeezed him onto schedules at the last minute, kept in constant communication and treated this poor little thing (and his very emotional humans) with an incredible amount of tenderness and care, for which we are very grateful.  At this point, we've likely seen every vet, technician and receptionist on their roster, and they're all equally knowledgeable and overall wonderful people; I can't recommend AHSM highly enough. l On the morning of January 30th our ten month old puppy, Rudy, was hit by a car. Within 15 minutes of the accident, Rudy was rushed to the Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain to determine the extent of his injuries. He was greeted with warm, caring faces, spent the entire day at their facility and then sent to the RIVER for overnight care. The following day, it was determined that Rudy had fractured his back and needed immediate surgery in Knoxville at the UT Animal Hospital to have a chance of being able to use his back legs again. Without hesitation, we drove to Knoxville and spent a week there with surgery and recovery. It was finally time to come home. Rudy was not able to put any weight on his back legs and had to walk with the help of a €Help me Walk€ brace. He was primarily confined to his crate unless he was lying with us. At his follow up appointment the topic of physical therapy was mentioned. We knew Rudy needed some additional exercises besides the ones given to us at the hospital to prevent muscle atrophy. Our friends at AHSM took a vested interest in Rudy and were willing to give him the physical therapy he needed. I am so glad they did! Rudy began PT once a week, and then gradually moved to twice a week. He was always so excited about going. The whole office embraced him and made him feel special. We quickly saw improvement in Rudy. He gained strength and control in his back legs. Today Rudy is a happy, fun loving 1 year old who can walk, run, and play with his friends again. It has been a journey, but we have been blessed with the love and support of the Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain. Rudy would not be where he is today without them. Thank You!! After moving to the mountain... we found new friends...signal mountain animal hospital by far is the most loyal around... always willing to take your questions over the phone, get staff awaits to greet you at the door, grooming has gone Through some changing of staff but no complaints always great with my Duncan. Lucy my boxer is treated like a princess when she visits! Dr.'s are always kind and listen to every word and never try to push products or procedures on owners. I am fairly new to Signal Mountain, and we were excited to learn that Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain was about a mile from the house! With multiple dogs, it is super convenient.I was really impressed by the facility itself, it's clearly a newer building and I loved the fact that they have a groomer on premises. (BRILLIANT!)  The team of people there from receptionist, techs, and Dr's have all been fantastic, all of them pleasant.  They all clearly love animals and love what they do.There are only a few downsides of AHSM, but they are significant enough for me to lower the review from 5 to 3 stars. If it wasn't for these things they would easily get 5 stars.1. Upselling:The amount of upselling that is done from the moment you walk in is astounding. I came in today to have a new pup checked out and an existing dog needed booster vaccinations. While there  (45 minutes from when I pulled up in my car till when I was leaving) there was four instances of attempted upselling for a variety of different things from dog treats, to Paw Plans (their ins. plan that only works at their office and during regular business hours.) It felt as if they were being pushed really hard to sell stuff. This is what happens each and every time I'm there. Is AHSM owned by a big corporation? If so it shows. I have never been pushed to buy extras at a locally owned small town vet like I have been here. it is overwhelming and puts the customer on the defensive. 2. The constant emailing:The amount of email I get from AHSM is crazy. I receive so much that I want to "unsubscribe" but I feel that I can't because that will also stop me from receiving email reminders for any appointments. Please keep in mind that I was not asked if I wanted to be on their email list. I was asked for my address when I completed new patient information. I was never told that they would be putting me on mailing lists, etc. I was told it was only to send me appointment reminders. (that would be awesome, but not when mixed with tons of "hey, buy this" emails.)  Just yesterday I got three emails from them for random things. Today, while I was actually IN the exam room I was receiving emails to bring in a dog that was literally with me in the building at that moment. That wouldn't be a big deal except that the email was regarding a dog that they had never seen before, saying, "we need to see this dog again."A) You've never seen the dog before, heck, you didn't know it existed till a week ago B) Don't send people requests to see a dog when you've had an appointment on the books for that dog for an entire week! Get it together.Then, tonight I received two more emails from them!Don't get me wrong, the people there are wonderful. But it feels as if there is a massive disconnect. It's like big corporate vs. small business all in one place, and it is uncomfortable at best. I want to keep my animals there because I genuinely really like the people and the care they provide, but I won't continue to if I feel pushed to purchase things that are upsells and where I am continually emailed spam. I really hope that whomever owns this place will ease up on the hardcore selling pressure. and figure out how to eliminate the constant spam. I like the people there but am considering going to the other Vet on the mountain. If I am this uncomfortable, I can only imagine how uncomfortable the people who work there feel having to sell, sell, sell, all the time. Read Less

I just moved back to the mountain and took all 3 of my dogs, Gracie, Baby Bop and Killer to get their shots, teeth cleaned and complete check-ups and utilize their day care services. I can't say enough about their entire staff and the facility. The office is neat and clean and the entire staff made us feel like family. I was totally shocked at the reasonalbe prices, especially the plan they offer. I was paying triple the price in Nashville and this is the first animal hospital that offers a plan. This allowed me to spread out the expense for my dogs especially the expense when it comes to getting their teeth cleaned. Thank you, thank you, thank you, words cannot express my appreciation. We are newer to the area and coming from a 15-year relationship with our previous Atlanta vet. Naturally, we were anxious about finding well-educated and experienced vets, with the warm and caring attitudes that we have come to expect. We were referred to AHSM by our local SM friends, and I must say that we are thrilled to have found a first class staff. I found Dr. Cornman to be a generous listener and thorough doctor. I also appreciated the follow-up call from staff after one of our dogs was recently treated for gastrioenteritis. This type of attention to detail and execution is the 'above and beyond' customer service we've been searching for in an animal clinic. From the scheduling staff to vet techs, it's obvious to us that this office is a well-oiled machine in which leadership is choosing the right people with the very best people skills! We travel 35- 40 mins passing several other closer options that could offer care for our 3 babies. We followed Dr Cornman up to Signal Mountain because of the care she extended to all of our dogs each with specific needs. One that is very old and 2 younger dogs, all rescues. It was especially the care that she has and continues to provide for our youngest, who has had some very challenging health issues that has kept us driving the distance even when it could be easier to go just a few miles from our house. I work at a major hospital in town not for animals and it is interesting that the phrase is used "the PRACTICE of Medicine". Often this applies with our animals as well. Dr Cornman is dedicated to work with her clients to develop the Best treatment plan. She is not a miracle worker, although sometimes I say she is. If anyone is looking for someone that is willing to listen to your concerns, and work through options and alternatives with you, this is the Vet you are looking for. She will voice her opinion provide you with facts and information but realizes that you are the advocate in the treatment plan for your baby as well. Read Less

I took both of my dogs here to establish care since I am new to the area and I am so glad I came to the right place! Everyone is extremely friendly and knowledgeable! I would definitely recommend to any friends who wants excellent care for their pets!They also have plenty of healthy pet food choices and treats along with vitamins, collars, etc.I was most pleased to also find they have a very nice grooming room with very competent staff!I look forward to our next visit in!:-) Read Less

Professional and courteous staff, combined knowledgeable and caring doctors, is what separates the Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain from everyone else. I have been to other vets in the past and always felt like they rushed through things and walked out the door only to yell "NEXT!" down the hall. 1. I generally do not write reviews, I am in no way associated with or employed by any animal related company( that is importnant when considering reviews)2. I live over 1 hour anyway and pass several vets to go to this establishment. They are reasonably priced with EXCEPTIONAL service.3. My pets are poor boarders in kennels (one is a rescue who is sure she has been dropped off for good) they like this place, they stay there not me.4. The follow up and through is great. They offer medication or products by mail. The prices of which are very average to online pricing. ( I would suggest the bussiness model would support a small premium for convenience).5. My only gripe is no emergency coverage, how dare they want nights, holidays and weekends off! I recently moved to this area and was worried about changing vets. My 2 dogs have been to each vet at the clinic, in the last 1 and a half years, and have recieved great care. When they needed special medication the technichians went over how to administer it until i understood what to do. The check out process and appontment I made that same day with grooming were handeled with smiling faces and though I paid my bill IN FULL when i left. I did hear someone at the counter when I was checking out that was making payment arangements and they seemed to be very understanding and helpful with her. I have also never left my dogs before to be boarded and the staff there was amazing they came home happy and smelling wonderful. I am very upset to see a few of the emails that were posted and decided to let people know that as a new client i have never seen this or experienced this. I know most people do not take the time to write somthing when they are happy with service only when they are upset, so this is why I am taking the time to say I THINK THAT THEY ARE WONDERFUL.
